Workshop in the Garden
House for Trees by Vo throng Nghia
House for Trees as the precedent, because the building form, concept and site have the same elements with the proposed design.
Site:
- The house is located in Tan Binh district, one of the most densely populated residential areas which is similar to Taman Para mount where the site is surround ed by residential areas. - Overabundance of traffic causes daily traffic congestion. - Lacks of Vegetaiton on site
Planning:
- Fitting into the informal shape of the site, fragments of boxes are positioned with different angles to overlook the area as well as to serve as a landmark to the busy district.
The site is a center point wiithin the suburb, can be accessed by cars, LRT, bicycle as well as walking. Surrounded by old heritage shophouses, the Horticultural Artists Colony stands out like an oasis.
Taman Paramount The 8000sqm plot of land of the site is exactly where the iconic cinema is, which serves as a local community centre which connects the community to that focul point. The site is surrounded by institutional centers like high schools, music school and an accounting academy. Not only that, the demographic in Taman Paramount is very interesting compare to KL area which is always pack with younger generation. Taman Paramount offers a much down to earth demographics like people from their mid 30s working in the shophouses, families living in the residential surrounding ths site because there are high schools within a 2km radius from our proposed site. It’s a very convenient area where everything is within one’s grasp.
Fragmented boxes are positioned to create small gardens and a central courtyard inbetween where all the trees would dwell. Blurring the border between inside and outside, the colony offers a tropical ambiance that coexits with nature.
