This exercise exposes students to identify and understand the different types of building material and its application.

Project Brief: Project 1b: Mood Board: Experiencing and exploring space through materials This project introduces students to various types of material that are applied in existing buildings locally in response to local contexts such as climate, concept, aesthetics, structure, occupancy and environmental issues. Emphasis is given to identification and understanding the effects of material, chemical and physical properties.

Project 2: Material Specification Project Brief: Project 2: Integrated Material Solution The second project is an integrated component where it involves material specification for final architecture studio and measurement projects. This project is designed to allow the demonstration of knowledge and understanding of building materials application and properties through materials specification or proposal.

Exploration and identification of various types of building materials and technology 3. 4. Produce drawings to visualize the architectural effects of proposed materials (spatial quality)
