INTEGRATION WITH DESIGN STUDIO
LIGHTING ANALYSIS . URAN INFILL MARKET
THE INFILL FOOD MARKET THAT I HAVE DESIGNED IS TO IN- CREASE INTERACTION BETWEEN CUSTOMERS AND PEDESTRAIN IN THE SITE AS WELL AS BETWEEN CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOM- ERS WITHIN THE BUILDING. THE GROUND FLOOR IS AN OPEN AREA WHERE STALLS ARE INSTALLED WITH COOKING STATIONS SO THAT CUSTOMERS CAN PICK THEIR FOOD FRESH AND THE CHEF WOULD PREPARE THEIR MEAL FRESH. THE FIRST FLOOR CONSISTS OF BAKERY, JUICE BARS AND NEWSPAPER STALL. THE MAIN FEATURE ON THE FIRIST FLOOR IS THE RAMP THAT IS LEADING UP TO THE BAR ON TOP. CUSTOM- ERS WILL HAVE VISUAL CONNECTIVITY FROM THE RAMP TO WHERE THE BAKERY IS, THIS WOULD INCREASE THE INTERAC- TION BETWEEN CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMERS, WHILE THEY WERE EATING THEY WILL HAVE GOOD VISUAL CONNECTIVIITY WITH THE BAKERY. UNDERNEATH THE RAMPS, THERE ARE KITCHEN, PANTRY, STOR- AGE AND WINE CELLARS. THE WINE CELLARS ARE OPEN FOR THE CUSTOMERS TO GO IN AND EXPLORE.
DAYLIGHT FACTOR . MARKET AREA
THE FOOD MARKET IS LOCATED ON THE GROUND FLOOR TO INCREASE PERMEABILITY AND INTERACTION BETWEEN CUS- TOMERS AND PEDESTRIANS, HENCE THE MARKET AREA IS SEMI OPEN WHILE THE SERVICE AREAS ARE CLOSED CONTROLLING THE DAYLIGHT ENTERING THE MARKET. NOT ONLY THAT, THE MARKET HAS PROVIDED A COVERED FIVE FOOT WALK WAY, THE SLAB OF THE FIRST FLOOR TO BE AN OVERHANG AND PROVIDE SHADE FOR THE MARKET PLACE AND FIVE FOOT WALKWAY. THE MARKET PLACE RECEIVES DAYLIGHT FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE BUILDING, THE FRONT AND THE BACK. THE AREA DOES NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DF (3%), HENCE SHADING DEVICES ARE NOT NEEDED TO INSTALL IN THE AREA.
ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING . KITCHEN AND PANTRY KITCHEN
THE HEIGHT OF THE KITCHEN IS 2600MM. DUE TO THE NARROW SPACE, THERE ARE NOT MUCH WINDOWS INSTALLED IN THE AREA, SO NATURAL LIGHT CANNOT PENETRATE MUCH INTO THE SPACE AND NOT PROVIDING THE RECOMMENDED DF FOR THE AREA. THEREFORE, FLUORESCENT TUBE LIGHTS ARE INSTALLED WITHIN THE SPACE. IT PROVIDES AN ARTIC WHITE LIGHT THAT CREATES A COOL AND REFRESHIING ENVIRONMENT WHICH IS SUITABLE FOR THE NARROW KITCHEN UNDER THE RAMP SO THAT THE WORKERS CAN WORK COMFORTABLY IN THE KITCHEN.
PANTRY
THE PANTRY IS A VERY ENCLOSED SPACE. THE SPACE DOES NOT HAVE ANY WINDOWS THAT ALLOWS NATURAL LIGHT TO PENETRATE INTO THE SPACE. HENCE, HIGH MAX LAMPS ARE CHOSEN TO INSTALLED IN THE SPACE BECAUSE OF ITS HIGH HEAT TOLLERANCE AS WELL AS ITS IDEAL USAGE IN BOTH HIGH AND LOW BAYS INCLUDING THE PANTRY. THE BODY OF THE LAMP IS VENTED WITH PATENTED AIR GAPS TO INCREASE COOLING AIR FLOW. FLO

BAR THE BAR IS LOCATED ON THE HIGHEST FLOOR IN THE BUILDING, HAVING MULTIPLE VERTICAL SKYLIGHT ALLOWING NATURAL LIGHT TO PENETRATE INTO THE SPACE ITSELF, NOT TO MENTION THAT THE FRONT ELEVATION OF THE SPACE IS A GLASS FACADE. HOWEVER, THERE ARE PART OF THE SPACE WHERE THE NATURAL LIGHT CANNOT REACH TO, SO THIS SPACE CAN BE USE FOR PSALI ANALYSIS. IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON THE NATURAL LIGHT IS STRONG ENOUGH TO PENETRATE INTO BOTH SIDES OF THE SPACE, HOWEVER IN THE CENTER OF THE SPACE, THERE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT NATURAL LIGHT. ARTIFICIAL LIGHTS SUPPLEMENT WEAK THE DAYLIGHTING IN THE CENTER AREA TO PROVIDE EVEN ILLUMINATION. PSALI IS ALSO USED TO CONTROL THE SWITCHIING OF LIGHTS ON AND OFF AS DAYLIGHT LEVELS CHANGE OVER THE DAY BY MEANS OF PHOTO-ELECTRIC SWITCHING.
