01 INTERNATIONAL HEALTH MEDICAL CENTER CLIENT HUICI HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT (SUZHOU) CO., LTD. ARCHITECT OLI Architecture PLLC. NY, USA ROLE Design, Modeling, Presentation and Documenting on Phase 2 Project overview Suzhou Huici international hospital locates at Suzhou Xiangcheng economic and technological development zone, to the north of Cao Lake. The site connects with Wuxi, Shanghai and Tai Lake by SuzhouShaoxing high way, covering main cities of Chang Jiang Delta. The site is located between Ezhengdang Lake and Cao Lake which has a particularly unique and beautiful environment. To the north of the site is Changyun road, to the west is Nanzhang road and to the south is Fengdangbei road. The hospital site occupies 132,863 sqm, and its construction has been divided into two phases. The first phase has 140,000 sqm, including general international hospital, rehab center, care center, and postpartum center. The general hospital part has nearly 100,000 sqm, which contains top-level medial service, completely hospital departments and advanced medical facilities. The patients will receive all-around medical services including outpatient, emergency, inpatient, physical therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy (Proton beam therapy), immunotherapy, DSA surgical service, etc. The hospital can meet 1000 inpatient requirement. 2. Design concept. The architecture design is inspirited by traditional Suzhou garden in order to combine garden landscape and hospital building together, on the other hand, to create comfortable rehabilitation environment based on its own high-quality landscape. Hexagon is the typical element for building form to surrounding landscape. Because of its polyhedral character, it can maximize the utility of landscape and reduce the visual disturbance at the same time. Moreover, hexagon is also one common element in traditional Chinese garden which would add some traditional design senses for the entire project. Through this concept, various functions can be crossed in this form, which guarantees efficiency and creates extended space perception simultaneously. We are making a great effort in creating a hospital in the garden. 3. Function organization The main entrance locates at the east side of the site. It is a vehicle and pedestrian entrance. The secondary entrance is facing to Fengdangbei road to the south. It is a nonmotor vehicle and pedestrian entrance. The first two levels of the main building are podiums, including functions of outpatient, emergency, operation rooms, and medical technology department. Third to seventh floor are inpatients rooms, care center, and rehab center. Outpatient lobby and emergency are on the east side, which is close to the main entrance. The main lobby is a double-height bright space for registration and payment. And the inner courtyards would offer natural and ecologica experience for every single clinic room. Patients can go to the sunken courtyards, surrounded by commercial and restaurants, through outpatient lobby, which brings vibrant atmosphere for entire hospital. Medical technology department adjoins emergency and outpatient that reduce the inpatient circulation. Surgery is located upon emergency in order to guarantee the rescues. Inpatient rooms and re-
hab-care center is in the north and south tower respectively. These two towers are mainly facing to west and east direction which keep opulent sunshine for inpatient rooms in double sides. And inpatient rooms are just on the emergency and surgery department so that it is very convenient for inpatient transportation. To the north of the main hospital building, it is the oncology center containing most advanced cancer therapeutic facility. Its ground part has purely glass façade, and the inside bare concrete space molds quite space to relieve the pressure of inpatients and their families. B1 and B2 part of an oncology center are Proton beam therapy facilities. To the west of the main hospital is the central lake landscape which expresses the idea of Suzhou garden. Trees, birds, brook, paths and villa-style inpatient buildings altogether create a modern Suzhou garden scene. The landscape extends the visual distance and enhances privacy of the inpatient rooms. Postpartum center and apartment-style inpatient room are to the north of the lake which connected with inpatient north tower by glass corridor. And its inpatient rooms are all facing to the south lake landscape. The second phase of the hospital is on the west side of the site with 50,000 sqm. To the north of it is the staff living area. The second phase has the same form and style with the first phase so that the whole hospital is in uniform and harmony. 4. Circulation & Parking Including east main entrance and the south secondary entrance, the site still has two entrance at the north side and one entrance at the west side. All for vehicles and walking people both. The B1 floor is car parking space, part of it the mechanical car parking space. Combined with some on-ground parking space, the entire number of vehicle parking is 1400. The entrance of underground parking is close to main entrance and sperate pedestrian and vehicle system. Non-motor vehicle parking space locates nearby south entrance. Combined with underground part, the entire number of non-motor vehicle parking is 1400 as well. In addition, in order to avoid the disturbance, the circulation of inpatients and doctors, circulation of normal and VIP inpatients and circulation of logistics and people are all separated.

ROLE Poject manage, Design, Drafting Design 2017-2019. Scheduled Opening Summer, 2020 The site of the Shanghai Pudong Fansuo Cultural Center originated as a ship manufacturer due to its adjacent location to the Huagpu River. Shanghai’s new culture center seeks to embrace the history of its waterfront site by bringing the memory of the past into the future. The center boasts three impressive court yards, each fi tted with sculptural steel staircases intended to catch public attention and bring outsiders down into the complex’s large underground spaces designed to echo early ship interiors. Concrete corridors stained in a deep, reddish hue evoke experiences of awe, drawing visitors back to the surreal experience of meandering between towering ship hulls on a factory fl oor. Alternatively, the suspended mezzanine level establishes a more intimate venue, complete with the nostalgic atmosphere of corner bookstores and other rustic retail options. With the striking characteristics this center and its history has to offer, our design delivers on a commitment to bring together arts, culture, and people in a space that is representative of the ever-changing backdrop of the city of Shanghai - all while introducing abundant displays of natural landscapes and public spaces for the local urban environment.

It is an abstract of ship hulls throughout the space with mystical lighting above. In each area, the child would have a diferent experience with diferent treatments of the shelving, column and doors. The concept is spread throughout the Southeast corner of Little Fangsuo, Lego and Muyu Forest.

05 ASCENTAGE PHARMA R&D HEADQUARTERS CLIENT ASCENTAGE PHARMA R&D HEADQUARTERS ROLE Interior Design, Facade Design, Producing 3D renderings ARCHITECT OLI Architecture PLLC. NY, USA LOCATION Chuzhou, China Ascentage Pharmaceutical Headquarters is a new modern complex in Suzhou symbolizing the aspirations of Ascentage’s culture whose cutting edge research in Bio-technology has developed promising new drugs to improve the lifestyles of a future generation afflicted with diseases once thought untreatable or incurable. At the heart of the complex anchoring the site is the R&D Tower housing lab spaces for cutting edge research as well as Ascentage’s administrative offices wrapped in a molecular benzene ring inspired GFRC lacework providing optimal balance of visual transparency and privacy. Standing on a podium floating above a large reflecting pool, the soft tapering volume of the tower folds back into the building creating a basket of hexagons in the ceiling of the formal 2nd floor podium VIP entrance. Clean, white and modern, the grand Executive/VIP lobby leads to the showroom/exhibition center showcasing Ascentage’s importance in the bio-medical field and position in the future of pharmaceutical innovation. A helical spiral stair reminiscent of the DNA string leads VIP visitors from the exhibition center 2nd floor to lab spaces, conference rooms and executive offices on the 3rd floor and back down to the 2nd floor lobby podium level for their departure via the podium ramp across the reflecting pool. For general staff and visitors, the ground floor lobby anchored with amenities such as cafes and formal waiting areas as well as informal seating for quick meetings is accessed via pedestrian bridges across the reflecting pool creating a separation from the bustle of Xinqing and Jinfang road.

01 The project, ”INTERVALS” aims to provide adaptive, affordable housing modules within an historic metropolitan context. By offering flexible layouts, modular options and unassigned intervals for future expansion and communal space, this project expects to comfort the old inhabitants and welcome the new inhabitants in London The London housing crisis is characterized by high land value, steady population growth, and complaints regarding to tiny living spaces. These issues illustrate that dense micro apartments cannot be the only method to resolve this crisis. In addition to physical needs of housing growth, developing cultural conflicts in between a new influx of inhabitants and current residents in the city area requires consideration of the social engagements among city inhabitants. In an endeavor to resolve the above issues, the project has focused on providing appropriate housing size while striving to create ‘corner store moments’ to provoke social engagements among inhabitants with different classes and ethnicities. The unit design originated around the concept of loosened, spherical joints within grid structures. Highlighting the in-between spaces from stacking curved-surface objects that are adjoining each other, the project saw the value of intervals in affordable housing. The in-between void, as implied space, can be utilized as breathing room for light and air, as potential unit expansion, and as communal space for inhabitants. The base unit of the housing module is constructed with pre-cast concrete, not only because it’s weather retardant and durable, but it also offers flexible exterior finish options to match historic surrounding environments in London. In an effort to provide differing privacy in interior layouts, there are 4 alternate units designed to accommodate 1-6 people per unit. UNIT DEVELOPMENT 2 Base Module

As diverse art content develops, the perception of the white wall is changing. Can we create a new frame for art? Why are gallery walls static? Art movements are changing to capture the time toward flexible forms of presentation, reconsideration of the visitor’s role and physical presence is very active. If the contents are less static, should space also transform from the static concept of the white cube?

CLIENT MICHAEL CLARK COMPANY Michael Clark founded his own company in 1984. It has since toured worldwide to perform at leading houses in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, as well as on its home stage at the Barbican, where it has been a resident company since 2005. Michael Clark Company has also introduced dance to new audiences both by performing at unorthodox venues such as the Glastonbury Festival, the legendary Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern in London and in the Whitney Biennial 2012 in New York where the company occupied an entire floor for four weeks, and through Clark’s collaborations with leading artists, fashion designers and musicians SITE The Oculus The new port of entry to Lower Manhattan, Westfield World Trade Center is located at the site where 60,000 neighborhood residents, 300,000 daily commuters, 13 subway / PATH trains, multiple ferry lines, and an additional 15 million annual global travelers converge within one landmark setting. This new New York City experience brings together commerce, community and culture in a destination integrating the Santiago Calatrava’s designed Oculus, street-level space in WTC Towers 3 and 4, as well as the galleries that run underground across the World Trade Center campus (including to 1 WTC, now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere).

This Oculus allows natural daylight to flood into the WTC Transportation Hub; filtering down through all levels eventually to the PATH train platform, approximately 60 ft below the street. At night, the illuminated building will serve as a lantern in its neighborhood. Santiago Calatrava speaks of light as a structural element in the WTC Transportation Hub, saying that the building is supported by ‘columns of light.’
