LEADERSHIP
LEGACY
COMMITMENT
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT Jack and Jill of America Foundation was created during the civil-rights era in 1968 by African American women to improve the lives of children, especially those in disadvantaged and underserved areas. Local Jack and Jill of America Inc. chapters that execute the Foundation’s mission are led by members who instill philanthropy and leadership ideals in their children.
“To know the Foundation is to love it for all our wonderful works and acts of goodness that impact Black children and their families. I think of Jack and Jill of America Inc. as the ‘body’ of the organization and the Foundation as its ‘heart.’”
Young people who are part of Jack and Jill of America Inc., are taught the core values of giving back and raising others up through service. Programs are offered that teach young people the necessary skills and meaningful ways to help others in the community who need support. Examples include Teen Community Service projects and “Positive Change with Loose Change” Since 2002, making a “Positive Change with Loose Change” has been a thriving program that helps teach Jack and Jill of America’s youth, age two through 12, how to become philanthropists. Throughout the year, these young leaders set aside their “loose change” to donate to Jack and Jill of America Foundation. Recent recipients of "Positive Change with Loose Change' have been the Marian Wright Edelman Mobile Library, Obama Presidential Library, and families affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Less-advantaged African American children and families are recipients of Foundation support; moreadvantaged children are taught to give back to those less fortunate.
The Jack and Jill Foundation invested in health fairs and community service projects across the country to address childhood hunger and nutrition; it also provides health screenings and gives access to mental health resources.
OUR PROGRAMS The programs and services of the Jack and Jill Foundation support children and families in many ways. This includes health and wellness programs that fight hunger, initiatives to improve literacy, and scholarships to young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity for continuing education.
