These may seem a little daunting at this time of your career, BUT, some are already actually trading as creative professionals.

What are we going to do over the next series of sessions?

Setting up a potentially viable business

Because we are a fairly large group, we will be breaking it down into 11 groups of 5 designers, and we will be able to work as small enterprises.

Within the groups you can:

Within the groups you can: Give your business a name (If you wish)

Within the groups you can: Give your business a name (If you wish) Apportion specific tasks to each member.

There will be tasks that you will need to complete over a period of time which will culminate in a ‘pitch’ or a presentation, by your ‘business’, to the year at the end of the PPP period.

Sessions: Friday 28th Feb Introduction: Set up 9.30am Group A / 1pm Group B Friday 7th March A Business in a nutshell Q&A 9.30am Group A / 1pm Group B Friday 21st March Review and Q&A 9.30am Group A / 1pm Group B Friday 28th March Pre Presentations Review 9.30am Group A / 1pm Group B

On your PPP blogs you will all need to blog your own individual tasks toward the final presentation.

When we eventually arrive at a presentation that you are all agreed on, you can each put a copy onto your ‘individual’ blogs.

REMEMBER. If you are in a group, you will need to elect a ‘Manager’ to control the whole exercise, and to make sure that all tasks are completed on time and to add to all the other elements that will be needed.

Research is key, and you will be reporting to me (JW) as we go on with this project.

Your presentations should be as professional as you can make them. It is upto you which items, and what you will put together for a professional presentation of your ‘business’.

You will have to plan your presentation, see who will present it. if all of you, you will need to apportion sections to present and answer.

You need to be as serious as you can about the information that you gather and how it is presented. The tone of voice etc. is important. Try to treat this as professionally as you can.

BUT ABOVE ALL Even though this is a serious element within PPP, don’t forget to enjoy the process.

By engaging with this process and the tasks you apportion, investigate and consider. You will get a basic idea of what areas you may need to consider in the coming years. !

These tasks will be mandatory, and you will be marked for your PPP Presentations after April 25th 2014. !

NOTE I will also be showing within the next few weeks a presentation on the actions you should undertake to give you a 99.9% chance of getting paid for work you undertake for ‘clients’ within freelance.
