INFORMATION: TRANSFORMED Digital Realty Data Centers is transforming the iconic Toronto Star printing plant in Vaughan, Ontario into TOR1 – a state-of-the-art facility, vital for meeting the increasing business demand for data centre capacity in Ontario. For over 25 years, it was the largest newspaper printing facility in Canada and one of the largest in North America. However, technology has changed the way we source our news – people no longer pick up the morning newspaper, they download it instantly. The innovative design will deliver perpetual power, high efficiency, reliable cooling, environmental friendliness and 24 x 7 x 365 security, making this one of Canada’s most advanced data centres. The facility is designed for flexibility, supporting a range of power densities and resiliencies. Once fully built, the Vaughan data centre will include 23 computer rooms spread across 226,000 s.f. with a critical power capacity of up to 46 MW.
