lways works in a positive way, that’s

how I see and feel during our conversation in Social Networking Site ”Facebook” and it really reflects of how Roland Alzate works. He doesn’t let bad vibes enter his mind so that he can work at his best, which really shows up in his designs. First time I saw him was during Exhibit “Manila Fame ” , which then I don’t know yet that he is Roland Alzate. Though I always hear his name but honestly speaking I don’t know how he looks like. What caught my attention then was his Givenchy Bambi Print Shirt and his Givency Pandora or Nightingale. (Not that sure anymore) Roland Alzate was awarded Look Style Award 2012 Winner of Look Magazine that gave him a privilege to study in Central Saint Martins in London. With the Guidance of his Two Mentors Noel Crisostomo and Francis Libiran, Roland Alzate really made his own name in the Philippine Fashion Industry and really a Designer that Philippines should be proud of. A Great Designer & A Down-to-Earth Person Lets Know Him More…



How did you first become interested in Fashion?

-I have always love the arts, I enjoyed drawing and painting at a very young age and had joined drawing contests when I was younger. At a young age, i wanted so much to dress up differently i remember..But pursuing fashion as a career came in 2009 when I started being an apprentice to Noel Crisostomo and a short stint with Francis Libiran What qualities does a designer need to have?

-Designers should learn, should know –Edit I think ideas comes in batches and we tend to be so excited that we lose, sometimes, perspectives of what is good and what is right..



What are the challenges you had experience in the fashion industry?

-In my almost two years in fashion i think it has been a rollercoaster ride. Success came very quickly for me but along with it, came, people who wants to put you down, people who you cannot please and sometimes, its heartbreaking but i always keep my focus and come unfazed with whatever difficulties

Where do you get your inspiration for your collections? -I am a very optimistic individual and i prefer celebrating life, victory,

success and great news than harbor hatred and sadness Life in general inspires me. A simple hour of waiting at an airport can excite me. The world is so vast, so many stories so many things to be inspired by/with.



Designers that you look up?

-In local scene i am a big fan of Noel Crisostomo, he is a well rounded designer and has sophisticated fabric and colour taste. I admire Inno Sotto for his romanticism and i am also a big fan of Norman Noriega..i admire his confidence in his collections. Internationally, who do you thinks is the best muse of your designs?

-I would say Kate Middleton , hehehe her strong position in the society and her kind heart defines the woman i aspire to dress


If Coco Chanel is alive and she invited you for a talk, what is the first thing you will ask her? -With Coco Chanel, I’d ask what’s her grandest accomplishment?

And hmmm why she hated knees and short skirts

If Anna Wintour asked you to have a dinner with her and she asked you to describe and discuss Philippine Fashion, what will you say? -The Filipinos love fashion and that Filipino designers have so much

potential in the big world of fashon and that she should take note of it
