hine the brightest from the others,
Seph Bagasao shined the brightest during his graduation in Fashion Institute of the Philippines for his simplicity, clean tailoring, and sharp minimalism for the finale of his collection. Which made him proclaimed as the Designer of the Year and won a Trip to Paris and an opportunity to sell his creations on The Ramp, Crossings. Seph was given recognition also as he became a part of Preview Magazine’s PEFTA or Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awards 2011. and recently Seph also been recognized by Look Magazine to present and to be a finalist for their Annual Look Style Awards. I personally saw Seph twice already though haven't had the chance to say Hi to him, but I find him a quiet guy which is totally different from other designers that are so noisy and loud. And that makes me like him and his aesthetics more than others. A Great Young Designer with so much Potential. Lets Know Him More‌
How did you first become interested in Fashion?
-Growing up, I always see my grandmother dress up. Having her clothes made by her favorite couturier during her time. I did not know what fashion is back then but I knew what style was. When I was in 4th grade, it was the time I started watching fashion TV. I remember watching Versace and Gucci and I already appreciate the beauty of their fabrics. What qualities does a designer need to have?
-I think in any industry one must have passion. I also believe faith, dedication and hard work should go hand in hand. One also must have a strong point of view on what his/ her label is all about.
What are the challenges you had experience in the fashion industry?
-Bringing my brand out there. It’s not enough that people get to see your clothes in the magazine; they have to understand your sensibility as a designer in order to create a market for your brand. So introducing my aesthetic and sensibility has been quite a challenge.
Where do you get your inspiration for your collections?
-Anywhere! Can be a painting, running water, old news paper or a certain film
Designers that you look up?
-Stella McCartney, Haider Ackermann, Alaia, Jil Sander, Phoebe Philo and Ivarluski Aseron Internationally, who do you thinks is the best muse of your designs?
-Tilda Swinton and the Olsen twins
If Coco Chanel is alive and she invited you for a talk, what is the first thing you will ask her? -Can I do internship with you?
If Anna Wintour asked you to have a dinner with her and she asked you to describe and discuss Philippine Fashion, what will you say? -Ill Discuss with her the potential of Philippine fashion and ask her if
she can create something like the CFDA awards to help young untapped designers here in our country. One of the most important things that a young designer needs to make it big is mentorship, and that’s what cfda awards bring in to the table aside from the monetary assistance.
