A
new kid in the block. Jerico
Villamonte, Editorial Assistant of Garage Magazine. Before he became EA for Garage, I always see Jerico Villamonte in Stylebible.ph as an attendee in the shows in Philippine Fashion Week along with his companions Ronnielle and Julia Villamonte.
He impress me with his sense of style. His simplicity when it comes in dressing up really makes me adore his style. Now that he is working in the only Men’s Fashion Magazine in the country, which is Garage Magazine, can’t wait to see more of his solo editorials and I strongly believe that he will learn a lot from the Garage Team most especially with Rey Ilagan , Adrianne Concepcion and ofcourse My favorite of them all the Style Director of Garage, Edlene Cabral So Lets Know him more…
1.
How did you break in to the industry? -Fashion Industry? To be honest I don’t think I am there yet.Hahaha! But where I am right now, I can’t reach without help from nicest people so I’m really thankful.
2. What did you do before starting at Garage Magazine? -I was a marketing officer and a contributor for a broadsheet at the same time.
3. Was Fashion always a part of your life? - Hahaha! I can say so. I can’t take credit for what I wore when I was a kid but as I remember, I’ve always wanted to experiment with what I can find on my father’s closet and mixing it with mine so..
4. What was your first job in Fashion? -I was a writer. I write about DIY stuff and actually make them.
5. How did working at Garage Magazine influence you? -I think it has made me more outspoken and less socially awkward. It required me to because if not, I’d get fired as early as now. Hahaha!
6. What does a Jerico Villamonte, Editor Assistant must/should do? -Must do? Everything. Should do? Everything! It’s a good thing because if you’re part of the editorial team, you get to be exposed on everything that happens on the magazine and learn from each one of them.
7. What qualities does an Editor Assistant need to have? -Always be prepared for anything. 8. What do you wear on set?
-I personally like to wear shorts and nothing tight because most of the time you do a lot of bending, running around and all other positions to make something work. Hahaha! 9. Favorite Designers
-Dean and Dan of Dsquared2 is one. 10. What to expect on the September Issue of Garage Magazine? -“FASHION!!!!!
11. If you will write a book, what will be its Title and Content and why? - Funny, my brother and I were talking about titles earlier. Not yet sure with the title but the content would be: what happens when the camera is filming and when it’s not. What really happens to the people who have to deal with the glamorous and the dull side of the fashion industry and also probably about the drama of love stories that happens on the life of people who work for fashion. Hahaha! 12. Any parting words of advice: - Be patient, be really patient. What you’re asking for may not be given but what will be given is actually more than what you’re asking for. It may sound like a cliché but things happen for a reason and you’ll understand why it has to happen when it finally happens.
