Whether you’ve got the kids in the car and are looking for some adrenalin-boosting water slides, are a music buff who wants to experience the Grand Ole Opry’s 85th Birthday Celebration or an art-lover eager to take in the Chihuly exhibitions and art galleries, Nashville’s playing your tune. Explore the following pages for a sneak peek of what’s on the schedule this summer in Tennessee’s capital, and then get packing. No matter which week you book a room, you’ll want to make sure you hop on the new free Music City Circuit bus, which will ferry you to the downtown tourist attractions. Need more suggestions? The Rules of Attractions. Where to start? That's the question often asked by visitors when they arrive in Music City. Don't worry, with so many options, there's something for everyone! From music, history, arts, sports and more, there's a new attraction sure to say "summer fun" to you. For the music buff: In May the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum expanded its permanent exhibition, "Sing Me Back Home: A Journey Through Country Music." The second floor gallery has tons of new archival video clips plus info on contemporary faves like Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. Other music attractions include the world-famous Grand Ole Opry, RCA Studio B and daily tours of the historic Ryman Auditorium. For families: Buy your ticket to the expanded Nashville Shores and spend the entire day tubing down the new lazy river or surfing the waves in the new wave pool. Other kid-friendly attractions include the Adventure Science Center, Nashville Zoo and the Nashville Sounds AAA baseball team. For those who want it all: Music City's newest attraction is Fontanel Mansion. Opening in June, Fontanel includes the 27,000 sq.foot log home formerly owned by country star Barbara Mandrell, trails for hiking and biking, an outdoor music venue and a farm-centric restaurant. Other options for outdoors, food and history in one include Belle Meade Plantation, the Hermitage: Home of President Andrew Jackson, Bicentennial Capitol Mall and the Nashville Farmers' Market.
