Back to Aamir. After having breakfast he goes up to the 7th floor where he does his shift at the Human Care Center as a part of his high school studies.

The Human Care Center is a place where the oldest and the weakest individuals from the community gets accomodation and care.

6 hours later Aamir’s shift is over and he goes to have lunch together with his friend Jukka who is making his shift at a design studio in the neighboring building.

The design studio is located in an old industrial building which is renovated in order to meet current needs.

They decide to go to ‘LoCAL by Granny and Grandpa’ to have lunch.

The restaurant itself is run by entrepreneur Pentti, who also lives in the building.

Unfortunately he is undergoing a divorce with his second wife and they are just about to divide their big 4th floor family apartment in to two separate apartments. This makes it easier for them to take care of their children while still living new separate lifes.

Back to Aamir again. After lunch Aamir and Jukka decide to go to the ground floor common space to play a quick telecommunication game with Aamir’s cousin Radi who lives in Mogadishu.
12:55 Our Neighborhood | Copyright Š Joksu
The common space is a great place for these kind of telecommunication games and also for other social activities such as neighborhood dinners, reading clubs, afternoon clubs and community meetings.

It’s afternoon and Aamir and Jukka is at school. In the meantime the common garden fills with life. The animals come out from the animal shelter and the neighborhood cow says MOOOOOO.
15:30 Our Neighborhood | Copyright Š Joksu
Aamirs mother Shamilah’s helps her divorcing neighbor Pentti by taking home both her own and Pentti’s kids from the ground floor kindergarten and then by preparing dinner for them. Pentti in turn helps Shamilah with Finnish bureaucracy.
