KENYA AND BRAD
A Southern Wedding Kenya and Brad’s southern soiree has our hearts melting!
From the rustic backdrop of their “I dos”, to the tables topped with lush florals, to the wooden church pews perfectly placed for the outdoor ceremony, we can’t stop oohing and awwing over this darling wedding planned by the bride herself. Everything from the fun groom’s shoes and delicious burlap detailed cake to the live entertainment, created the most memorable event.

Tip: when using a muted color palette texture is a key component in ensuring an exciting and dramatic atmosphere.
Don’t forget: your fiancee is in the spotlight too, let him wear or keep something on him that he loves to make him feel more comfortable on the big day.

The Proposal Kenya and Brad had been dating for 3 years prior to Brad’s proposal, which came on a warm summer morning in New York. That morning she was supposed to be meeting with friends in a local park, but instead she saw him there, 2,000 miles away from home, waiting for her. She said yes, and the rest was history!
The couple got married in a local church in their home state of Oklahoma. With modern, clean lines and vintage touches the mixture of new and old make this wedding a one-of-a-kind treasure.

the braided crown The newest spin on an old favorite, the look of this braid is pulled together, yet still laid back. In essence you french braid your hair around the crown of your head, let’s take a closer look... 1. You want to start by pulling the majority of your hair forward (in front of your face) from nearly the back of your hair line. This is going to feel very Cousin It but you want most of your hair to be toward the front of your head before you begin. Start on one side of the base of your neck and separate three strands of hair. 2. Begin braiding these three strands together.
3. As you braid, follow along the crown of your head and add a little hair to each strand as you braid around. 4. Once you’ve braided around the front of your head finish the braid and use an elastic band to secure it. Pin the braid in place, tucking and pinning any loose pieces. If your hair is not long enough to braid all the way around your head you might consider adding hair accessories, such as bows or pins to where your braid ended, to sort of disguise any loose ends. Don’t be discouraged if your first few braided crowns are a little messy! It takes a little practice to get it looking just right.

classic pin curls Have you ever wondered how to style vintage inspired pin curls? Just follow these easy and simple steps! 1. Pin up all of your hair except for a section at the bottom. 2-4. Spray with water and begin taking small sections (about 1 inch) and rolling the hair up to the root. Pin in place.
5-6. Once you finish with the bottom section, release a new section from the pinned hair and continue as before. Do this until all hair is rolled and pinned in place. If you have any shorter hair left on the side, take it and pin it around one of the curls. 7-8. Finish off your bangs by wetting thoroughly and rolling to the hairline.
Tip: If you have shorter bangs you may need mousse or gel to hold them in place. These curls are also great as “no heat curls, but using bobby pins will create a dent in the curl. Instead, use 2 prong curl clips (also known as pin curl clips).

the beehive Beehives can be intimidating, but they are actually pretty simple to style when you have the right supplies. Here’s what you’ll need: • A bath loofah (any color), • A piece of fabric that matches your hair color (just large enough to cover your loofah), • a rubber band, bobby pins and hair spray (I use Got2b Glued). Step 1: Cover a bath loofah in a solid fabric that matches your hair color. Step 2: Pull one small section of hair forward (leave unteased). Gather a second 1-2 inch section, spray and back-comb it. Repeat with 2-3 more sections until your hair looks like this… Step 3: Add the loofah to your hair. Wherever you position the loofah will be where the bump sits. Cover the loofah with pieces of hair and pin each piece down. Continue to cover it from every direction until the loofah is hidden! Step 4: Pull pieces from the sides of the hair back to cover the sides of the bump. This creates a beautiful shape. Step 5: Choose to pull the back of the hair up or leave it down.
Tip: If you have shorter hair use just the fabric (tied in a big knot or ball) and skip the loofah.

Outgoing Mail a guide to writing the perfect thank you note
When to write a thank you note The short answer is always, and now. Always. If someone took the time to buy or do something for you, take the time to thank them – no matter how small the gift or gesture was. Now. “Better late than never” is most definitely true, but try not to be late. Once you get over that thing that’s making you put it off, it only take a couple minutes of your day. If you’re putting it off because you don’t have the supplies, it’s time to stock up. Invest (yes, invest) in a few boxes of personalized note cards (blank ones, so they work for any occasion), a pile of forever stamps, and a good-quality pen.
What to put in the card: Start by writing the date in the top right corner. That’s for people like me and your grandmother, who save everything and love to look back and remember when you wrote it. Then, write your greeting. Stick with “Dear,” because I really can’t think of a time when it’s not appropriate. As for the name, it should (in my opinion) be exactly what you’d call the recipient in person, be it “Aunt Soandso,” “Granny,” or whatever. We’re going for thoughtfulness here, not formality.

Acknowledge your gratitude, and don’t be afraid to use truthful adjectives: “adorable sweater,” “interesting book,” “beautiful bouquet,” “fluffy robe.” I love a good adjective. (Note: If the gift was cash or a check, thank the giver for his or her generosity – don’t ever mention money.) Briefly explain how you plan to use the gift. (Note: If the gift was cash or a check, don’t itemize your shopping list. Instead, explain how you’re planning to use the money to buy something special for your brand new apartment, for example, and – optional – send a photo after you do.) If you don’t like the gift and never plan to use it, don’t fabricate a flowery scenario, no matter how much you’re tempted to. Get creative, and highlight the teeny tiny truth. It’s there, I promise. Start wrapping up the note by telling the recipient how nice it was to see them when they gave you the gift (if applicable), and tell them how much you’re looking forward to seeing them next (whenever that will be). Thanks again. Too much is never enough when it comes to gratitude! Pick a closing that feels right: From, Your friend, xoxo, Love, Love you, Lots of love… all great options that I use frequently. Sign your name, and you’re done! See? I bet that was easier than you thought.

What not to do.... Do it properly. An email, voice mail, or text message is not good enough. A thank you note is more thoughtful because it’s more personal, and it takes more time. Don’t write a novel. Keep the breaking news and life updates very brief, or save them for a phone call. You don’t want your thanks to get lost or diminished. Don’t lie, be honest. Remember, it’s the thought that counts. Even if you don’t like the gift itself, find an honest way to express your gratitude for the thoughtful gesture. Don’t write like a stranger, write like you speak. Yes, it’s a formal thank you, but your writing doesn’t have to be. Write in your own voice, and don’t be afraid to show your enthusiasm and sense of humor! Remember, make it personal!
