Brazil Innovation Center is a showroom for DuPont. The building design aims to create a space where the visitors can see and interact with DuPont products, while advertising their innovative approach through the building form. Despite its minimal dimensions, the impact created by the volume is enhanced by the curved Corian faรงade, which was the first curved facade made of Corian in the world. Together with this wall, other DuPont products were used throughout the building; making the building itself a part of the exhibition.

Sao Paulo, Brasil 5,000 m² America.Net 2009 - 2010 Design phase completed
America Net’s new headquarters comprises of the company’s office space and data center. The challenge was to translate the technical complexity of the data center areas to an architectural aesthetic that would be clean and minimalist, and also read as a high-tech company’s main office. An impactful first impression was also an important part of the design brief, which was achieved through a monumental entrance supported by a public square that makes use of water and greenery to create a different microclimate. Another requirement was to provide as much flexibility as possible, both in plans and façades since the clients wanted to have the option of leasing the building in the future, or changing the functions.

MERCEDES-BENZ SHOWROOM

Campinas, Brasil 720 m² Mercedes-Benz 1991-1992 Completed
This showroom was developed as a commercial space to introduce the company’s products to potential clients. As part of the design brief the building needed to be capable of hosting buses and trucks in the exhibition area while using a lightweight structure, since the building should to be able to be moved to different Mercedes-Benz sites when necessary. To comply with the requirements the building volume was fragmented into two parts. The first volume has a wide open space hosting the reception area and an exhibition area for the products. The second block contains a small auditorium and a lounge space, to host conferences and receptions.
Despite the fact that the plan was quite deep, providing daylight was one of the design parameters. The skylights, large glass panes on the faรงade and high floor to ceiling height were used to improve daylight conditions in the work environments.

SIEMENS HEADQUARTERS

Sao Paulo, Brasil 46,680 m² Siemens 2012 Ongoing
The site which will host the new Siemens’ Headquarters in Brazil is located in a remote area where public transportation is almost none existent. As a consequence, one of the challenges of this project was to allocate a large space for parking, which was almost equal to the area of the office spaces. The site had great limitations in terms of space, since the topography was very irregular and most of the site’s area was covered by a remaining natural forest which was strictly protected by the environmental regulations. The solution to such a challenge was to create a multi storey parking lot, partially under ground level. The office spaces were placed on top, standing out of the landscape, elevated.

Paulinia, Brasil 760 m2 DuPont 2008 - 2009 Completed
The technological centre was designed in 2008 as an answer to the growing demand for technological researches, especially in the agricultural field. This building houses several businesses. The challenge was to create a high-tech laboratory with a range of specific facilities and limited budget. The U form plan not only helped with the distribution of different facilities (ranging from multifunctional labs to shooting range) but the courtyard also improved the daylight and ventilation conditions in the office areas. Also, the green roof serves several purposes; such as absorbing rainwater and providing insulation.
