THESIS 2014 ASPIRAS - A RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL CAMPUS

THESIS 2014 ASPIRAS - A RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL CAMPUS

INSDAG 2013 Made it to National Round, was among top 12 teams in INDIA

INSDAG had selected the topic to be the design of a Steel Intensive (B+G+8) storeyed Super – Speciality Cardiology Hospital in Kolkata.

INSDAG - 2013

ACADEMIC + COMPETITION PROJECT

THE BRIEF

Participants were required to design innovatively the Building and other units as specified in brief, using the unique advantages of Steel as a medium of Architecture expression.

STRUCTURE HIGHLIGHT Light Weight Structure Many forms Achievable Easy to assemble Use of Prefabricated Structure

BUILDING HIGHLIGHT

INSDAG - 2013

ACADEMIC + COMPETITION PROJECT

To promote Steel, we have to differentiate the structure from the usual column-beam structure to show the uniqueability of the structure in its inheritance itself. Here in the structure, we have maximized the free space and pace construction keeping in mind the demand for easy to handle prefabricated structure. Distinct character about this building is its String Visual Impact from all sides of elevation.

PLANS EVOLUTION The design was to be as per the local climatic conditions. The students needed to design for both phases keeping future provisions at eighth oors as conceived by them.

ABOUT THE BUILDING

PROJECT

In the Year 1904, on the order of Zamindaar from Bengal province, this Kothi was constructed in the name of his daughter Lakshmi.

The State Agriculture Department, with technical support of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) decided to restore the building and turn it into an agricultural museum.

In the year 1952, this Kothi was sold to Bihar government at the cost of 55 Lakh (5.5 Million) Rupees Approx.

It was once the functional office of Agricultural Dept. (Bihar), but after Fire incident, this office was vacated.

Here focus was set upon three factors: Building materials and Design Details and Construction Detail used in the interior as well as Exterior portions of the building
