Related Information
- 1. Using the Look it Over BLM or by creating a T-Chart, have students list textual and non-textual features, in a What I See column. Features chosen should provide students with information about the text (Example: title, subtitles, preface, illustrations, picture captions, chapter questions, and summaries). 2. Ask students to interpret the textual and non-textual features from the What I See column, in the What This Tells Me column. Students note what they have learned about the content of the text and its organization. Ask advanced students to record observations about the purpose of the text and its tone.
