Nuclear Science and Technology has continued to play a pivotal role in acceleration the socioeconomic development in Africa. For instance, nuclear medicine and radiation is being used widely to diagnose and treat cancer; nuclear techniques are being used to improve human nutrition and food safety; radioisotopes are being used to manage natural resources. In South Africa, its nuclear reactors provide approximately 5% of electricity. Namibia and Libya are two of the major countries mining uranium. Africa is the second largest and most populous after Asia with over 60% of its population below the age of 35 years. Consequently, youth are among the key stakeholders in issues related to nuclear science and technology especially nuclear energy and there is need to continuously train and involve them.
