A Chat With Peter Casey

HOW DO YOU STAY UP TO DATE ON THE LATEST TRENDS?

For different trends, it is closely aligned with the women’s fashion industry with colours and textures. I would look to that industry for upcoming or current trends, some of the fabric or colours that you can see becoming popular in women’s clothing would follow in furniture.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE CASEYS PIECE?

My favourite is the Percy Chair. It’s a beautiful vintage chair that fits well in any space. It has a distinctive look and feel of classic and sophisticated but also has a modern twist to it. The colours and natural leather just make it an overall stunning and quality product that is made to last.

HOW HAVE INTERIOR TRENDS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?

In the beginning, we used to manufacture the furniture on site but now our furniture comes from all over the world. Colours and pieces are often bolder than past trends. We have a wider range of products which covers more styles than before. Trends tend to change faster now than they did when I started in the business, I am constantly checking in to see how things are changing.

WHAT PIECES OF FURNITURE SHOULD HOMEOWNERS INVEST IN? WHAT IS YOUR TOP TIP FOR BUYING FURNITURE?

Homeowners should invest in the pieces of furniture that they are going to be using the most. The key pieces to any home would be beds, sofas and dining tables. Anything that will be getting a lot of use in a home is worth investing in so that it stands the test of time.

FOR THIS SEASON, WHAT TRENDS DO YOU THINK ARE GOING TO BE BIG?

I can see recently that an emphasis on sustainability is becoming important for every industry. More and more people want to have sustainable products, so I definitely think this trend is one of the biggest at the moment. We have incorporated this into our brand and have some amazing sustainable products such as Harrison Spinks bedding and Nova living range. Another trend that is showing at the moment is the mid-century look, reimagining traditional pieces. Our Giovanni range is a great example of this.
