5 Minutes With David Casey

WHAT YEAR DID YOU JOIN THE BUSINESS? WAS THERE ALWAYS AN INTEREST THERE?

I joined the business in 1990 after spending some time working abroad. My father was happy for me to join the business on the condition that I worked in the industry first. I worked for furniture retailers in England and Germany before returning to Caseys with some fresh ideas.

CAN YOU TELL US WHAT IT IS LIKE HAVING A BUSINESS IN THE HEART OF CORK CITY ON OLIVER PLUNKETT STREET?

Oliver Plunkett Street is a vibrant and diverse street steeped in history. We have an ever-changing customer passing our door, both young and old. We are surrounded by some wonderful landmarks and businesses such as the English Market which is only a stones throw from our door.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT WHILE IN LEADERSHIP IN CASEYS?

I am very proud to be the third generation here at Caseys, getting the company to the 100-year mark is my greatest achievement to date. We have faced many challenges over the years but have always managed to overcome them.

IN 2005, YOU OPENED YOUR LIMERICK STORE WHICH WAS PURPOSE BUILT FOR YOU, HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION?

Our Limerick store is a state of the art store with anon-site café, ample parking and is located on a main thoroughfare. We chose Limerick as it was ideally located for our customers in North Cork, Kerry and Clare.

WHAT PIECE OF FURNITURE DO YOU THINK BEST REPRESENTS THE BRAND?

I think our Leopold Collection best represents Caseys. It is a quality range with a classic design that looks well in any setting. A truly timeless collection!

WHAT DO YOU HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF CASEYS?

My hope for the future of Caseys is that we will continue serving our loyal customers and bring them quality furniture at affordable prices.
