My Morning In my morning, I found you And like a sun you shown on through me You cast your new light on my road And took on your shoulders the major part of my load. Like a flower on the mountain side Like a shell in the sea You are exactly where you are I’m only going to love you, besides that I’ll let you be Come wake me and give me my morning Don’t give the dues you’ve paid the time of day I’ve grown a garden to keep our minds in We can dance to the swaying rhythms we can play Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett © All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts

Rain Look outside, the wind is blowing Look outside the rain is falling Look out don’t you go out into the rain Stay inside where it’s dry Please don’t stop to wonder why You’re longing to go out into the rain Memories they start to come About catching raindrops on your tongue And missing one that caught you in the eye And the memories are getting stronger yet rolling through the grass all wet with someone who knew the reason why rain brings me down, now cause I see hit the ground now and the world that I once knew and called rain is gone from me now thunderheads drift away the sun comes back and starts a brand new day but somehow I just still can’t go outside I cross the room, the door stands open I stand outside and search the sky for tokens Of a love I had and somehow cannot find rain brings me down, now cause I see hit the ground now and the world that I once knew and called rain is gone from me now Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett ©All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts (2011)

I Think It’s Gonna Rain Today Broken windows and empty hallways A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today rom: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/r/rahtml ] Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles With frozen smiles to chase love away Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today Lonely, lonely Tin can at my feet Think I'll kick it down the street That's the way to treat a friend Bright light before me the signs implore me To help the needy and show them the way Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's going to rain today Words and music by Randy Newman © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc.

Stealin’ Stealin' (also called Stealin', Stealin') is an American folk song from the 1920s. The song is particularly identified with the jug band tradition, but gained wider popularity after several folk and blues artists recorded it in the 1960s. Although different artists have recorded different verses, the chorus has remained consistent: Stealin', stealin', pretty mama don't you tell on me I'm stealin' back to my same old used to be The lines “If you don’t believe I love you, look what a fool I’ve been / If you don’t believe I’d fall for you, look what a hole I’m in” were recorded by the New Orleans jazz musician Clarence Williams in 1921 and again by Leona Williams in 1922 as “If You Don't Believe I Love You, Look What a Fool I've Been.” Gus Cannon claimed to have written the opening line, "Put your arms around me like a circle 'round the sun." On this basis, Cannon is sometimes credited with authorship of the song. However, this line doesn’t appear in any of his recorded songs. It does appear in the folk song “I Know You Rider” and may actually predate Cannon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stealin'

Living On

Lyrics by Tommy Hall / music by Roky Erickson

If you see me rockin’ It’s that the times are right I’m bringing in my stocking If the score gets tight I may drop in And plant smokestacks Clean living leaves no tracks What’s ugly’s wrong And we’re just living on I hear you talking You’re only poppin’ spit

Automatic walking Thru the sniper pit The dingy he just circles insane And take the lord’s name in vain Vetted kings of all Are living off not living on Living on past the ice age And the walrus harpoons Living on past the space age And the yellow balloons In the age of the exit Comes the moving cartoons Bringing you right along Helping you living on If you miss my special I’m out alone Be sure to keep a level I’m talking on my on Don’t be taken by what I say If it’s too rigid, throw it away But you’re never really gone You’re just living on If you miss my watching Sometimes I’m catchin’ all I can In the steady watchin of the profit’s plan whoa, and the good life we live may foretell will keep us our souls very well and the wisdom of right ever long and the spirit us is living

Just Give Me The Gun Just give me the gun I’m gonna put it away You never needed it anyhow There’s other games we can play No one said it would be fun Keeping the demons at bay Just give me the gun I’m gonna put it away That day by the river So many went down It tore out my heart It turned us around If we stand in the river It could wash us away If we stay on the shore This could be the last day The last day of loneliness The last day of fear

The whole world is holding on For the waters to clear We just can’t go on livin’ hard It will break us apart And we’ll lose all the love we made I told you right from the start Just give me the gun I’m gonna put it away You never needed it anyhow There’s other games we can play No one said it would be fun Keeping the demons at bay Just give me the gun I’m gonna put it away Just give me the gun I’m gonna put it away Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett ©All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts (2011)

A Heartbeat Away Hey there lady, I like the way that you smile I’d like to keep my eyes onya all of the while That I dancing through the desert Tryin’ to make it to the sun I hope that you’re with me when my dancin’ is done We could be so like the light from the sun or even the pale shining white light from the stars at night, if you’d only stay just a heartbeat away Then every breath I breathe in would be giving you air And we could mingle in the river and we just wouldn’t care If our thoughts combined should be dumped into the sea I’ll still be there with you, you’d still be there with me We could be so like the light from the sun or even the pale shining white light

from the stars at night, if you’d only stay just a heartbeat away Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett ©All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts (2011)

Gaia Blame it on the night Blame it on the games we play Blame it on the wind The wind that blew it all away Now there is no fire No light to show the way Back to the heart The fiery heart with sword and flame Blame it on the night We all came looking for the love that shines The love that keeps the Earth spinning round in time Oh, the love we lost The love we left behind…defines Blame it on the night Blame it on the games we play Blame it on the wind The wind that blew it all away Now there is no fire No light to show the way Back to the heart The briery heart with sword and flame Blame it on the night On and on, Gaia dances like the snowflake falls Round and down and round Swirling twirling till it gives it all and dissolves Into the night Into the games we play She’s just like the wind The wind that blew it all away She dances like the fire The fire that lights the way Back to the heart The briery heart with sword and flame She is the night Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett © All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts

End Of The Gun You laid that lady like you were a mad dog You took from her the thing you had to have You’ll never see the retribution coming You’re gonna pay for all the pleasure that you had From now on you’ll sleep with one eye open You’ll live your life forever on the run You can’t escape your fate And you know that You’re gonna wind up on the wrong end of the gun All the men are meeting at the crossroads They’ve got dirty deeds they’re gonna do They’re making plans to kill with wild abandon And you know what’s gonna happen when they’re through From now on they’ll sleep with one eye open They’ll live your lifes forever on the run They can’t escape their fates And you know that They’re gonna wind up on the wrong end of the gun After all is said and done You have to face the truth Destiny’s aim is sharp and true And it will never cut you loose You hit the wrong notes from the first Now justice will ring your bell Some righteous man will hunt you down And send your ass to hell You heaved him to the block And called his number You sold his body Never sold his soul Now you’re burned into his brain Like the brand upon his face And he’ll see you in his dreams until you’re gone From now on you’ll sleep with one eye open You’ll live your life forever on the run You can’t escape your fate And you know that You’re gonna wind up on the wrong end of the gun Words and music by Johndavid Bartlett ©All rights reserved by Singing Hearts Arts (2011)
