R&I Reality is filled with reflections and illusions. Photography has long been the tool famous for its ability to capture reality. I'm sure you have heard the expression that "Pictures don't lie." Well, in fact they do lie and always have lied.
R&I As artists, sometimes these false perceptions of reality and "truth" are often the most interesting things to us. Our perception of reality can become monotonous and common. We can take for granted the things we see every day. We ignore them because we think we have seen all that there is to see. The roll of the artist is to look closer at the common perceptions of reality and truth. A good artist finds the irregular in a world of regularities and finds the uncommon in a common world.
R&I By looking at reflections and illusions our eyes often lie to us. We wonder what is the "truth". Your charge on this assignment is not necessarily to lie, but to make us wonder about truth and perception.
R&I Assignment (100 Points) Take at least 24 exposures of "Reflections and Illusions". Make a contact sheet to turn into me along with your enlargement. Your print must be a full size 5" x 7" or a full 8" x 10" and dry mounted on the appropriate sized matt board. Remember to put a black boarder around your print if it would look better. Please shoot outside with natural light whenever possible.
