Athletics report

Athletics continues to grow in popularity, with a large number of pupils competing at the Harrow Borough Track and Field Championships, the Middlesex County Championships and the Harrow Athletics League this term.

Following their excellent performances at the Harrow Borough Championships, it was excellent to see Benaiah I (9EKM) (100m), Doneil W (10NMB) (Shot Put), Alexander S (8SRP) (Discus), Ritchie G (10KS) (1500m) and Tio E (10JNL) (200m) all compete at the Middlesex Schools Athletics Championships at the StoneX Stadium on Saturday 18 June, with nearly all competitors setting personal best performances in their respective events. In the Harrow Athletics League, it has been particularly pleasing to enter our first ever girls’ team into the event, with the Year 7 girls performing incredibly well against some strong opposition. Notable performances include third place in both the 800m and 1500m for Elsie N (7AJM) and some excellent sprinting by Jiya P (7JOC) and Niska K (7ADH). Thank you to all the athletes for your efforts this term. We look forward to another exciting cross-country season starting in autumn 2022. n
