What’s it like here?
These bloggers will tell you about it! How do you become a naturist?
How I was deeply transformed by this NATURIST experience.
“The very essence of naturism can be found here - living like a human being in their natural environment. A naturist aims to find experiences that are difficult to come by in everyday life. The simplest and certainly most instinctive human experience is the freedom to exist just as you are, taking advantage of the slightest ray of sunshine, the slightest breeze and the slightest bit of contact with water, wind or heat on every part of your body. It’s hard to put into words, and I am not trying to convince anyone, but naturism is accessible to anyone who doesn’t want to let go of their true nature.
“Naturism. It’s funny that a single word can shock you, disgust you, make you laugh and make you curious all at the same time. I, however, took the plunge. After much investigation. Me, a thirty-year-old woman with a figure so far from current standards. Alone. Was I really going to have to take all my clothes off? Yes. It’s a big culture shock, but the welcome was warm and friendly. People didn’t even look at me, they really weren’t bothered by me and my rolls. I headed towards a deckchair, got my self settled and quietly began to relax. I had imagined couples older than sixty, as brown as speculoos biscuits and wrinkled with everything flapping about. A cliché you probably share. Naturists are a lot younger than that, about forty years old at most.
Where freedom stops for one person it begins for another. It’s completely appropriate to give naturism a go in this safe place, where everything is first and foremost dedicated to the wellbeing of holidaymakers. While we were en route, Nino got a bit anxious. So I decided to find out if there was a guide on how to be the perfect naturist so that we wouldn’t arrive and look like ‘newbies who don’t know anything and don’t do anything right’.
They are open-minded, kind and very respectful people. That’s what I have taken away from the discussions I have had with naturists. It made me work on accepting others. There is a certain harmony, everyone’s choices are respected. I get the impression that naturists have life figured out. My first experience as a naturist allowed me to realise that I am beautiful on the outside, with my body as it is. A beautiful person full stop.
They told us that it was a bit annoying, for naturists, to see newcomers with a guide or a set of instructions, because for them it’s natural, the same manners and social skills are required as normal, it’s just that you’re naked. For naturists, wearing a bikini is just as inconceivable as wearing flip-flops to Fashion Week!
You don’t have to be especially courageous to dare to try naturism. You don’t have to be a high hippie, either. You definitely don’t have to have a perfect body. Anyone can do it if they want to discover something greater than they could imagine. Personally, I only want one thing - to do it all over again!”
The easiest way to get to know what naturism is about is to leave all your prejudices at the door and come and experience this serenity for yourself. Explore the magnificent places, go on a holiday that respects others and the environment, relax and take advantage of the rays of sunshine and drops of water on your uncovered skin.”

Live naked, at my age? The senior experience. “My body is what it is, but not what I would have hoped for. It has lived through my turmoil, my victories and my failures. It has suffered, exulted, loved, been loved and carried life. It carries the marks of everything I have lived through, and it serves me faithfully, even if it sometimes reminds me that I am no longer 20 years old. And even naked, this body is mine and I don’t want another one. Naturism turned out to be a gift from me to my body. Free from compulsory constraints, clothes, the weight of societal norms. Ah, swimming naked, without a swimming costume, just nothing. Simply feeling the breeze on your skin, the heat from the sun, the freshness of the water. Just experiencing the sensations. And delighting in the laughter and happiness of the children running about, naked and happy on the beach.” Read about more of Mamie Solange’s adventures on her BLOG

What are the major differences between the France 4 Naturisme campsites and other naturist campsites? Discovering a naturist campsite is always a surprise. They’re all so different, you never know what to expect. The France 4 Naturisme campsites have the advantage because they demand a high level of respect from everyone. So before we even arrived at our first France 4 Naturisme campsite, we were already certain that all the family would be met with high-quality accommodation and services.
In your opinion, what are the best parts of each of our campsites? BÉLÉZY: the activities and the art. ARNAOUTCHOT: the grounds and the spa. SÉRIGNAN PLAGE NATURE: the high-quality facilities and the big naturist beach. SABLIÈRE: the amazing nature. EURONAT: a true naturist village that you will only have to leave if it suits you! RIVA BELLA: We have to go there next...

is in search of new holidaymakers But who are these new naturists? Our reporter in Arnaoutchot, in The Landes, asked Stéphane and Frédérique the question, a couple aged 55 and 49. “Our 1stnaturist camping experience. Being used to traditional campsites, this was beyond anything we had ever imagined. From the very first day we quickly got used to being naked, because everyone around us was also naked. In addition to the high-quality of the campsite and the services, we have only met lovely people, who are very respectful of others and the campsite. People were happy to be there, full of
kindness and smiles, taking advantage of the sun, the beach and the facilities. Having already reached the end of our week-long holiday, we are very satisfied with our first experience and we have already booked a trip for next year. We will no longer consider going on non-naturist holidays! We’ve found what we’ve spent a long time looking for.”

t in Bélézy : «“Our paradise: the best spo the world for naturist holidays”, “A campsite that showcases nature, with thoughtful and attentive staff members.”
Riva Bella : “I had my first naturist experienc e at Riva Bella so that I could join a group of friends who were already on board. Although I was a bit reluctant at first, I was quickly and pleasantly surprised by how calm the place was and the kindness and goodwill of other holidaymakers and the staff ! I absolutely loved the idyllic scenery, with the beach and the clear water only 100m away from our accommodation. In a nuts hell, I was able to completely unplug myself from everyday life in a magnific ent environment! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!” 6

Stories from our staff members... What is your favourite memory?
Joke, manager receptionist
“My best memory is my job interview in March 1992, in Arnaoutchot. No one had told me that this was a naturist campsite, so it was a big surprise when I arrived for my first day of work. I hesitated a lot, but in the end I walked in with confidence and I still don’t regret it. Arna has changed as the years have gone by, but it has always kept its spirit and natural beauty.” Joke, receptionist manager at Arnaoutchot for 28 years.
“On the 23rd July 2019, the holiday village Riva Bella was chosen as a destination on the Royal Clipper naturist cruise, thanks to its stopover in the east of Corsica. We were all gathered on the beach to take pictures of, and marvel at, this ship carrying 250 passengers, who were mainly American. A few chairs and a table, and we were set to welcome the naturist clients right there on the beach, with our feet in the sand. I borrowed a kayak during my lunch break and decided to approach the ship. It was a giant, I’d never seen a boat like it in my life. Once the boat was anchored, you could catch a glimpse of the Riva Bella beach, the vineyards on the east coast and even the mountains in the distance; the environment was magnificent, as was the weather on that day. I returned to the shore happy with my trip. Delighted with the day, our American friends left us to get back on the ship. It was a day that we won’t forget any time soon.”

What a pleasure! I recommend that everyone goes back to nature.” 7
Euronat : “It’s alw ays a pleasure to stay here. Relaxi ng, recharging your batteries, resp ecting others... we are impatient ly waiting to come back to this peaceful spot. • NATU’ SPIRIT •
naturism from yesterday to today Naturism was defined in 1974 by the International Naturist Federation as “a way of living in harmony with nature, characterised by the practice of nudity in common, which aims to promote respect for oneself, respect for others and for the environment”.
A short history of natu- France, the leading rist tourism
naturist destination
Naturist tourism began in Germany in the early 20th century, spreading to France, the United Kingdom and Spain. In France, the Durville brothers, who were physicians, created the first facilities, including the naturist area of Heliopolis (1932) which quickly became a reference. The French Naturism Federation was born in 1951, owing to the Lecocq couple. In the 1960s, France integrated naturism into its tourism policy and attracted German and Dutch customers. After May 68, mentalities changed and naturism gained ground by becoming a symbol of freedom. The next generation abandoned this practice a little before the real comeback observed today: there is now a desire to reconnect with nature and a wish to simply be rather than focusing on appearances.
France is today the leading naturist destination worldwide. The beauty of the landscapes and the capacity and quality of the accommodation offered have built a fine reputation in our country. Paris, however, is no exception, with, for example, the creation of a naturist area in the Bois de Vincennes, a naturist restaurant, and the organisation of a naturist visit to the Palais de Tokyo exhibition centre.
Increasingly more followers
Each year, about 2 million French people and 2 million foreigners practise naturism in France - there are about 13.5 million naturists in Europe and nearly 16 million in the world. 11 million French people are also ready to try the naturist experience (2015 IFOP survey for the Tourism and Naturism Cluster of Atout France) and about 4 million French customers have already enjoyed naturist holidays. Naturism is bringing together more and more enthusiasts, and its followers are increasingly more varied and younger, including young families with children. As a couple, with family or friends, at any age, naturism has lots to offer!
20
Naturism, a philosophy? First of all, care must be taken not to confuse naturism with nudism: nudism simply means occasionally undressing. In contrast, naturism is a real lifestyle that is particularly fulfilling. If it’s popular, that doesn’t mean that it’s a fad. Why this growing interest? To begin with, naturism is synonymous with freedom. In addition, the benefits of nudity for the body and mind are real (p.17). Then, with clothing, the social differences disappear. With the body freed from unnecessary constraints, human relationships are simplified. Lastly, respect for others, for oneself and the environment, is a key value of naturism and this is something we love! So, can naturism be considered a philosophy? Yes, when you know that it is often combined with a healthy diet, physical activity, a certain ecological awareness, empathy and unfailing conviviality. It’s both an ethic and a way of life!
• NATU’ SPIRIT •
naturist undress code
In a naturist centre, we live nude! In a naturist centre, total nudity is of course encouraged everywhere. It is even essential at the beach, the pool or balneotherapy areas. After all, we are here to enjoy our nudity, right? However, wearing clothes is possible, and sometimes required, depending on the activities and establishments: if I’m cold, if I want to play sports, if I go to a lively party, I can/have to cover myself. For medical reasons, I can also get dressed. Teenagers who have become bashful also have the option of wearing a sarong or towel outside 21
the bathing area. In fact, each centre has its own practices, so don’t hesitate to ask the teams when you arrive. In short: live nude as much as possible!
For your well-being, but also because respecting the nudity of others is to practise it yourself.

Wellness break Take care of yourself
Thalassotherapy at Euronat Sea water and marine products give me new life as my immune system is boosted and marine trace elements energise and relax me. At Euronat, hydromassage baths with essential oils, seaweed wraps and marine mud allow me to relax and re-mineralise. At Euronat, I happily discover different types of body massages: chi neï tsang, “harmony” massages (created specially for Euronat), shiatsu, deep tissue massages, lymphatic drainage and hanakasumi. I am offered innovative treatments in the beauty space.
Professionalism and a warm welcome come together for my well-being! My treatments are personalised and adapted to my wants and needs. New this year: phytotherapy consultations, aromatherapy and cleanses and detoxes, as well as aqua aerobics and aqua tai chi. 22
• NATU’ ZEN •
Escape in the Arna Basins Around 5,000m2 of idyllic nature is hidden away at the Arna Basins. It is a magnificent complex that includes a spa with a sauna, Turkish bath , outdoor jacuzzis, a garden with a 200m2 ornamental lake designed for relaxation, a solarium and break room, and 4 cabins dedicated to beauty treatments, massages and balneotherapy. I follow the winding paths through native plants and dune grass and I discover the facilities that blend perfectly into their environment. There are water lilies, carps and dragonflies in the ornamental lake. Lulled by bird song, soothed by the lush vegetation and the peace of the place, I let myself go... In 2020: qi gong classes, yoga indoors or in the forest, sophrology and meditation classes.
Well-being made-to-measure at Bélézy Here, it’s all about well-being and relaxation. The balneotherapy centre even creates a programme of care specifically adapted to my profile: fitness spa, bubbles and massages, steam room and shower, they take care of me! This is an opportunity to meet Jacques, osteopath, acupuncturist and trained in manual therapy, as well as Christine, in charge of hydrotherapy care and the teams of masseuses. I know that I will leave regenerated, owing to their care and the treatments for pain (backache, sleep problems, etc.). Chinese medicine, Bach flower remedies and fasciatherapy also have their place here. Lastly, in the summer, a beautician offers me facials, waxing, makeup and manicures for a very beautiful holiday! In 2020: there will be yoga, vinyasa yoga and acroyoga classes during the summer months and tai chi in June and September. 23
• NATU’ ZEN •
Relaxation and discovery at La Sablière Within the Domaine de la Sablière, I can enjoy the sauna every day from 10 am to 8 pm - it’s included in the price of my holiday! In the high season, La Sablière organises free introductions to massage and yoga. This is the perfect opportunity to learn new forms of relaxation! Lastly, in July-August, I never miss the mud bath organised once a week, for a moment of original and convivial well-being.
A luxury spa at Sérignan Plage Nature Fantastic, the Sérignan Plage Nature spa spreads out over 2,800 m² under the open sky Open every morning, it is 100% naturist and reserved for those aged over 16 years old. Here, the hydromassage baths relax my neck, my back, my legs and my feet. Bubble baths are a divine caress for my body. In the 25-meter musical pool, I swim the laps, lulled by the music, even under water. Immersed in the 40-meter massage path, I alternate walking against the current on a bed of pebbles (guaranteed arch massage), lateral hydromassage to firm thighs and a zero-gravity corridor to relieve my legs. Celine’s massages (Ayurvedic, Thai and Shiatsu) are conducted with 100% natural quality products.

The benefits of thalassotherapy at Riva Bella Here, I discover the keys to physical and mental well-being. Authenticity, sea and scrublands are the meaning and essence of care. Renowned since antiquity, the sea is rich
in negative ions, trace elements and zooplankton. Riva Bella has set up unique treatments based on natural ingredients from the Corsican scrublands, highperformance and sensory treatments, under the care and know-how of experienced professionals. Everything has been designed for my pleasure: seawater treatment at 32° C, oriental steam bath, scrubs, marine hydrotherapy, watermass drainage or slimming, respiratory care, beauty treatments, massages of the world, etc. Fatigue and worries, everything disappears, giving way to a bewitching well-being.

Eco-friendly initiatives are becoming more frequent in our campsite villages and any action that protects the environment is encouraged. Alongside the younger generations, you too can join the defence against climate change.
The Green Key accreditation, proof of our commitment Thanks to their commitment to protecting nature, Arna, Bélézy, La Sablière and Riva Bella have obtained the “Green Key” accreditation. It is an international accreditation for sustainable tourism and a token of quality that recognises: - the policy implemented in holiday villages: general environmental management, employee training, social responsibilities etc. - the environmental awareness mission in which our teams are invested: informing clients, arranging outdoor activities, encouraging eco-friendly actions etc. - careful water management (resources and sanitation, tap capacity, watering etc.), waste management (reduction and sorting) and saving energy (resource management, lighting, heating etc.), - purchasing eco-friendly food products, cleaning products and furniture. All of these steps help us to respect nature and provide you with an indoor and outdoor environment that complies with our values.
The Qualité Tourisme™ label for providing a high-quality welcome and services This has been awarded to Euronat, Arna, La Sablière, Bélézy and Riva Bella, thanks to their work and investment. In return, these establishment have made 5 major commitments to Camping Qualité (quality label for campsites in France).
• A warm welcome
Hospitality, availability, thoughtfulness and effectiveness make up the base of a high-quality welcome service, and give every holidaymaker the guarantee of a peaceful and pleasant trip. 29
• Value and respect for the environment
The environment that our sites are found in was there long before we were. We are grateful for the richness and beauty that nature has to offer and we strive to find the most appropriate solutions for blending our facilities into the existing environment in the best ways possible. Camping Qualité is concerned with how we lay out our facilities and save energy, as well as what we are doing to combat the increasing threats to nature.
• Sparkling clean
What is the driving force behind naturism? Respect. Respecting our clients also means looking after our properties and infrastructures, and ensuring that our sanitary facilities are clean and in working order.
• Correct and precise information
A Qualité Tourisme™ certified campsite must always be honest and provide all of the correct information about its establishment such as: precise descriptions of its equipment, the seasons and opening hours, the services and the activities. Prices must be clearly expressed and strictly applied.
• Clean and private locations
A private location is synonymous with peace. It has to be arranged tastefully and with an eye for good décor to ensure that the site provides clients with a pleasant stay whilst also succeeding in blending into the surrounding environment.

Naturism and eco-tourism
Shop locally to keep your purchases eco-friendly Just because you’re on holiday, doesn’t mean you have to forget about sustainable development ;-)
Our naturism is about living in harmony with, and respecting, the environment. All of our camping villages are expanding, so we have to take environmentally conscious steps to ensure that the infrastructures blend into, and protect, the existing environment.
Arnoutchot This haven of peace has been Green Key accredited since 1998. The establishment has put in place energy saving systems (motion detectors in some of the lights etc.) and water saving systems. You will also find an educational garden for agroecology and permaculture, as well as a compost zone. Trees are replanted on the site every year. Several initiatives are being put in place such as: processing waste water through an evapotranspiration system, birdhouses for tits and bats, electric micro-cars etc.
DOMAINE DE Bélézy Bélézy has been Green Key accredited since 1998 and has its own educational farm. Adults and children can take part in cooking workshops using the vegetable garden and informative workshops about the farm animals. A sensory tour is also available. Compost, water saving devices and cleaning products that bare the eco-label etc. - Bélézy is abiding by its Green Key commitments! You can rent electric bikes on site and explore Bélézy’s surrounding areas in an “eco-friendly” way.
Le Sérignan Plage Nature Le Sérignan Plage Nature has taken many different steps such as: planting over 1,000 different types of plants each year, using recycled waste water for irrigation, saving on drinking water and sampling by drilling into a natural underground aquifer. They use energy saving lighting, electric cars and recycle waste. To encourage plants to pollinate naturally, they have introduced beehives across the campsite, and to naturally fight against mosquitoes they are: protecting swallow nests, installing nesting boxes for bats and devices in hotspots that trap mosquitoes by mimicking human breathing patterns. Finally, they are protecting plant biodiversity by putting up wooden fences
on the dune in order to protect rare species from being trampled on and direct any traffic.
Domaine de la Sablière Domaine de la Sablière has been Green Key accredited since 1999, and is situated right in the middle of an oak tree forest (a protected classified Natura 2000 site) boarded by a river. Therefore, it is only natural that this establishment has made a commitment to the environment by introducing more eco-friendly initiatives such as: Botanical walks, plant and wild life discoveries, culinary workshops using local and seasonal products, an aromatic plant garden, composting, solar beacons on pathways, water flow restrictors on taps, recycling zones and organic products at the mini-market etc.
RIVA BELLA Dip your feet in the water at this holiday village that has been certified Camping Qualité™ since 2007 and Green Key accredited since 2015. It has also been a member of the ecotourism association in west Corsica since 2019. A number of steps to help the environment have already been put in place: recycling, compost bins, solar panels on 70% of lodgings, geothermal energy, LED lighting, new eco-designed bungalows etc. Llamas and donkeys are used as “natural lawnmowers”, the Terenzana salt pond is equipped with a ventilated Aquasystem that improves its oxygenation and preserves the plant and wild life, and watering the plantations is limited thanks to mulching and drip irrigation. In 2017, Riva Bella introduced LM Innovation technology, which provides structured water with health benefits.

EURONAT Euronat has been taking environmentally friendly steps for a number of years now. The first measures put in place were: water management, waste recycling, the use of electric cars and energy saving public lighting. The cleaning products used within the thalassotherapy spa are all natural and white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda based. The plastic films used in seaweed wraps have been replaced by plant-based wrapping film. The natural environment is our main source. A long-term protection programme that uses ancestral methods has been put in place. Stakes have been put up to control the maritime pine at the foot of the dunes and endemic plant life, such as European marram grass, has been reintroduced. Finally, thanks to its high environmental quality, 15 years ago Euronat was chosen as a breeding location by a queen bee breeder. Every year 7 to 8,000 queens and 24,000 queen cells are bred, which helps to save the bees and maintain the work of bee keepers in many regions and distant countries.

Everyone can treat themselves and have a good time in our restaurant. We serve healthy, home-cooked food, prepared with fresh and seasonal products. We prepare organic and vegan meals everyday. Fancy visiting the region? Jean-Yves and Jean-Baptiste Laborde will welcome you into their family-run farm in the heart of Chalosse. In Maylis they have pledged to farm organically and use agro-ecological practices. Therefore, they produce peasant seeds of maize, sunflower and ancient wheat, sunflower and rapeseed oil and farm Landes Label Rouge certified ducks (a label for products of a superior quality). You can visit the crops and barnyard on site. It will also be the perfect opportunity to try some delicious farm products: foie gras, duck breast, rilletes, duck axoa etc.
Domaine de Bélézy
This is undeniably the region of the truffle - black truffles in winter, white in summer. Alongside La Truffe à Toto (a truffle farmer), we have organised “truffle hunting” excursions, followed by cooking workshops, with a chef from our restaurant, so that you can discover this local treasure. (From May to the end of August). Under the tree planes of Bélézy, on Sundays in summer, these truffles and their by-products, such as olive oil and pâtés, are sold at our small truffle market. And since we live in the “fruit and veg basket of France”, there are specialities to try each month: from April there are strawberries from Carpentras and asparagus, followed by apricots, cherries from Venasque, melons from Cavaillon and peaches etc. 2 times a month under the tree planes, during our Mont Ventoux wine tasting sessions, we showcase winegrowers from the local vicinity (max. radius 8 km). It’s not far so there’s no need to drive afterwards, so you can enjoy the wine in complete safety!

Sérignan Plage Nature Domaine de la Sablière Our holiday village has 2 restaurants, which allows us to serve vegetarian, vegan, organic and gluten-free products every day. Local food networks are preferred. The best dish at Sérignan? The vegetarian burger with grilled vegetables and aubergine dip! We also invite you to visit Domaine Pradines le Bas, a local producer of olive oil and its by-products. For example, the Margaux cuvée, whose fruity base comes from the yields and aromas that it brings together, is the best around – it goes with everything, which is why it has managed to charm all of the culinary arts!
One of the emblems of La Sablière? Gaby’s jams, of course! A little bit of sugar, a touch of honey, some savoirfaire and there you have it! Orange, plum, peach and nectarine flavoured delicacies, or even a blend of banana and chocolate. Yum! Discover them all on site when you stop for a tasty treat.

VALUES
that bring people together In the France 4 Naturisme centres, a healthy form of family-oriented naturism is practised. As an actor in this harmony, I also advocate absolute respect. Respect for others: courtesy, discretion and tolerance are my fellow travellers. Except in special circumstances, I practise total nudity. For the serenity of all, I avoid noisy activities, I reduce the speed of my car and I take care of equipment and infrastructure. On each of its sites, France 4 Naturisme scrupulously ensures my safety. Self-respect: a naturist holiday allows me to reconnect with my body, to release it, to accept it and to love it. To help me, France 4 Naturisme offers me many healthy and creative activities, to become one with nature. Yoga, relaxation or hiking, for example, can bring me well-being and peace. I am myself, totally serene. Respect for the environment: here, naturism lives in harmony with a preserved nature. Every eco-citizen gesture (giving priority to cycling and walking, for example) is encouraged and there are many ecofriendly approaches. Sustainable development and tourism are also at the heart of our concerns. With over 30 years of experience and a forerunner in its sector, France 4 Naturisme is a signatory of the Quality Tourism commitment.
