GREETINGS FROM OUR PRESIDING ELDER I greet you with Jesus’ joy and hallelujah praise! My heart is filled with thanksgiving and gratitude for what the LORD has enable us to do. He truly empowered us to glorify Him beyond measure. As your Presiding Elder, I can’t express how proud and thankful I am to have the amazing caliber and capacity He has provided in the Capital District. Our GOD has blessed us such that we can truly live beyond all limits and have a peace that surpasses all understanding. He has given us a calm and a confidence to carry on. In spite of this pandemic, it has not daunted, nor dissuaded us from rising to the challenges that COVID-19, the devil and this world have presented. We are called to be the real church. Not defined by an address or limited to the size of a building or a parking lot. We are the universal church and Body of Christ, that has been forged together by the blood of Jesus Christ and sustained through the power of the Holy Spirit. With our GOD all things are possible! We are the Real Church! And as we glorify our GOD beyond all measure, we are they who rise to meet every challenge and trust that the LORD will see us through. Trusting in the LORD with all of our hearts and never leaning upon our own understanding. In all of our ways, we acknowledge Him and know that He will direct our path (Proverb 3:5-6). We work beyond all limits because we have a GOD who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ever ask or think. According to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3.20). It’s that power that enables us to glorify Him beyond all measure! It empowers us to live, work and serve beyond all limits and in spite of any challenge. It’s the anointing of GOD that makes us THE REAL CHURCH – THE BODY OF CHRIST. We thank GOD for Bishop James Levert Davis for inspiring us to be #4REAL and to work the works of Him that sent us while it is day. Also, for Mother Arelis Beevers Davis, our Episcopal Supervisor, who encourages us through her godly and kind spirit to serve the LORD with gladness. This is our first virtual convention and there are so many persons I need to thank for making it all possible. Firstly, our Capital District Church School Superintendent - Sis. Francine Sutton. I thank GOD for her steadfast leadership and willingness to bear the toil and endure the pain of forging and leading a team of hardworking, creative and dedicated people. Rev. Frederica Snead assisted in making sure every T was crossed and I dotted. They led a team of Area and local Church School Superintendents, Youth & Young Adults (YaYAs), teachers and others who worked to the glory of GOD. Also, I want to express my thanks to all of the Pastors and churches for their support and provided videos and content to help bring our virtual convention to life. The LORD sent an amazing team of professional video development & production persons, as well as social media experts. They creatively worked together to bring it all to fruition and produce a presentation that is second to none. Following our Bishop’s lead and striving to reach the amazing standard that was established at the unparalleled series of SED Annual Conferences and the Planning Meeting. Last but not least, let me thank GOD for my Executive Assistant – Rev. Alicia Hudnall, for her steadfast dedication and prayer commitment to support the work of the Capital District.
To GOD be the glory!
Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun, Presiding Elder

GREETINGS FROM OUR DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT Rt. Rev. James Levert Davis Presiding Bishop Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun Presiding Elder Sis. Francine Sutton Capital District Superintendent
Welcome to the First Virtual and Cyber 2020 Capital District Church School Convention! I greet you with the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I am so glad that you have chosen to join us today in this corporate worship experience, albeit remotely, as we continue to adjust our lives and our ministries to this global pandemic that has negatively affected so many in our community. Let me say that, I wish you and your families my personal best for your health and safety on the front line during this health crisis. Despite the extraordinary uncertainty of this time, we know that our God is in control. We want you to rest assured in His arms during this time with us today and enter into this virtual and cyber Church School Convention with a heart dedicated to worship our wonderful Lord and Savior! Our 2020 Church School theme is “Living Beyond All Limits, Keep Calm and Carry On.” Romans 12:2; and Ephesians 3:20 - 21. This year, our forward and creative thinking Presiding Elder Johnny R. Calhoun, wanted our youth and young adults included in the development of the 2020 Convention, and, therefore, the First Youth and Young Adult Roundtable was established. The Roundtable was quite engaged in the process and thus, our theme and framework for the activities for the convention were born. The theme’s overall concept centers around traveling, via the John 316 train, to a place called “The Cyber City of God,” a place where you can imagine being in the presence of God. As we travel to the various “Stations” and fellowship with one another along the way, please listen for teachable moments explaining how we can each be in a right relationship with God. We pray that this experience will bless you, restore you and enlighten you. We pray as well, that you will explore your travel kit and spiritually feast on the bounty within. So, get ready! The train is coming! May you enjoy your virtual and cyber Church School Convention as much as we, the entire Capital District Church School Team from your churches in Maryland, Virginia and DC enjoyed preparing for you with the hope that you will leave this experience lifting others through witnessing, serving and sharing! God Bless! Francine Sutton Capital District Superintendent

Theme: We are Living Beyond All Limits, Keep Calm and Carry On Scriptures: Romans 12:2; and Ephesians 3:20-21 Mission: Design a “out of the box” virtual cyber framework structure for the Capital District Virtual and Cyber Convention, that maintains and offers the pillar modules of education and fun. To ensure virtual fellowship with one another through teachings and inspirational messages; as well as fun activities that prayerfully encourage, uplift, and strengthen our relationship with God. Vision: It was the vision of Presiding Elder Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun to create a Youth and Young Adult Roundtable comprised of Youth and Young Adults from the Capital District to be the strategic computer systems designers and social media gurus to design the framework and structure of the New Capital District Annual Church School Convention that will attract a broader participation and viewing audience. Purpose: To present the undergirding structure and framework for a state-of-the-art electrifying 2020 Capital District Virtual and Cyber Convention inclusive of all churches within the Capital District. To design a virtual and cyber convention technological framework that will increase and attract Youth and Young Adult Participation and Attendance Background: The Annual Capital District Church School Convention has been a long-standing recognized staple ministry event that is hosted by the Capital District Presiding Elder. Due to the COVIC-19 pandemic, the Capital District Church School Convention, must be transformed from the traditional college campus setting to a virtual and cyber convention platform designed to offer stimulating program events and activities. Faith based organizations, corporations, businesses, athletic organization, etc. all over the world have conformed to the ideal of virtual and cyber convention productions and; the AME Church organization has followed the trends of offering virtual ministries. The Youth and Young Adult Roundtable was established by the Presiding Elder to solicit creatives ideas and recommendations to design a cyber and virtual framework structure for a virtual convention. Rev. Fredrica Snead, Roundtable Facilitator led a team of the “best and brightest” youth and young adults in the Capital District to brain storm leading edge computer technologies, graphics, social media and virtual platforms to bring to life the Presiding Elder’s vision for the First Capital District Virtual Church School Convention. Program: The Capital District will host the first Virtual Church School Convention. One of the convention highlights will be the Capital District Virtual Train that will stop at each church in the Capital District; and it will make special train stops at various train stations that each have a biblical message based on John 3:16. Presiding Elder Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun is the Head Conductor and you don’t need a ticket to get on board! This train is headed to the Cyber City of God. What is the Cyber City of God? The Cyber City of God was coined by Presiding Elder Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun and birthed at the Capital District First Virtual Church School Convention. The Church School Virtual Convention is a virtual cyber convention that can be viewed from your home computer, mobile phone, and other computer devices! This virtual convention is a phenomenal interactive worship and educational experience that Glorifies God Beyond Measure! As the Capital District Train presses its way to the Cyber City of God, there will be worship and praise, bible trivia, music, preaching, special prayers, vignettes, real-talk, teachings, kid pack games and activities, let’s move activities, and much more! Every Church in the Capital District will be represented. Look for familiar faces, commercials, and inspirations featured along the cyber train journey to the Cyber City of God.

Capital District Virtual Church School Cyber-Convention
Stations to The Cyber-City of GOD This year’s Church School Convention will focus upon understanding salvation. We want all of our youth & young adults to realize what is necessary to be in the presence of GOD and in a right relationship with Him. We will be using John 3:16 as the primary scripture. To illustrate the various points to be made, we will use the illustration of a train going to the City of GOD. Eight stations will represent the various concepts that will be taught and conveyed. Our aim is to creatively portray the principles outlined in John 3:16. Click for Lesson by Rev. Joseph Deck John 3:16, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. And whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” STATION ONE: Love Station: “For GOD so loved the world” • God loves us in spite of what we’ve done, mistakes we’ve made or hurt we have caused. His love covers our sin. STATION TWO: Calvary’s Court: That He gave His only begotten Son • Jesus paid for our sins on Calvary’s cross and thru it, made a way for us to GOD STATION THREE: Believe Boulevard: That whosoever believeth on Him • We are saved by grace thru faith…. Our salvation requires that we believe in the death & resurrection Jesus Christ’. Without faith it is impossible to please GOD STATION FOUR: Perish Port - Shall not perish • The wages of sin is death. The fear of GOD is the beginning, Everyone that says LORD, LORD shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven STATION FIVE: Forever Freeway - But have everlasting life • A place has been prepared for us and we have a home eternal in the heavens STATION SIX: C&C City - Confession & Cleansing (I John 1:9) • If we confess our sins He is faith and just to forgive our sin and cleanse us for all unrighteousness STATION SEVEN: None But The Righteous (Matthew 5:8/Hebrews 12:14) • Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see GOD. He divided the sheep from the goats STATION EIGHT: Cyber City of GOD (Last Stop)- (Luke 17:21/Ephesians 3:20/Revelations 21:2) • The place where GOD lives & reigns

LESSON RESOURCE – THE CYBER CITY OF GOD Click for Lesson on The Cyber City of God But [a]seek first [b]His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be [c]added to you. (Matt. 6:33) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Tim 2:15) Some may be wondering, what is the Cyber City of God (CCOG) and where is it? Let start by saying, the Cyber City of God in no way replaces or supersedes the Kingdom of God as established in Matthew 6:10 as we pray in the Lord’s Prayer “…Your Kingdom Come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” For many of the Church School Superintendents, Church School Teachers and Church School Workers, for as long as we can remember, Church School has been taught on Sundays before or between the worship service(s) within the “walls of the church”. Each Sunday the teachers prepared the in-class lessons, discussion points, and arts and crafts for the Church School Classes. Then the world was introduced to the medical concept COVIC-19. COVIC-19 spread of virus, immediately transitioned the churches to a quarantine status which immediately required virtual and cyber services and ministries. Thus, le ts define the Cyber City of God as “any virtual place where two or three are gathered in God’s name who know God is in the mist.” This definition aligns with a familiar scripture, Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”.
WHERE ARE WE TODAY? WHAT IS THE CYBER CITY OF GOD? Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matt: 28:19) As of March 2020, most AMEC Church Schools have transitioned from teaching Church School classes in the traditional “in class” forum to the “virtual” Zoom Meeting Classroom. Some churches have embraced this new concept while others are still adapting to a new way of teaching outside the classroom. The Great Commission commands us to go out and teach all nations the Word of God. Through virtual and cyber technologies, we have opportunities to reach the masses to teach all nations about the Word of God and to make new Disciples. The internet is a free information highway to obtain information, create innovative and interactive lessons, and to supplement the published literature. However, be cautions because just as Apostle Paul and other Prophets warned us against false teaching, it still exists today. (Dear friends, do not
12
believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1) False teachings are even more prevalent today to deceive and to distract the Believers from receiving the Promises of God. Therefore, as teachers of the Gospel, we must “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15) For as James informs us that teachers will be held to higher standards as well as strict judgement. (Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. James 3:1) In this virtual and cyber space Church Schools are having virtual lessons and discussions that are able to “Glorify God Beyond Measure”. The AME Church School is reaching beyond the church walls to teach all nations and to make disciples. Digital lessons, videos, graphics, breakout rooms, bible games, virtual discussions all can be used for spiritual formation for Believers in Christ and to make new Disciples. The Capital District has forward thinking Presiding Elder Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun who has encouraged the Capital District Church Schools to embrace the 21st technologies to create and develop the first Capital District Church School Convention online. Our beloved Presiding Elder coined the concept “Cyber City of God” to expand our pedagogic methodologies to raise the bar of excellence in teaching and serving in our church schools. As previously mentioned, some of our church schools may still be struggling to get on board with virtual teaching ministry, but as a collaborative team, we are reaching back as a virtual team of Superintendents to teach and train each other. It is evident that the Capital District has done quite well in making the transition into the virtual and cyber teaching ministry. Thus, we have the “Cyber City of God” to use as a spiritual technological vehicle to continue to teach Church School even during COVIC19 quarantine and beyond. Go forth and teach God’s Word!
IS SALVATION STILL AVAILABLE IN THE CYBER CITY OF GOD? If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) There is salvation in the Cyber City of God! For the Word of God never changes; yesterday, today, and forever. As teachers of the Gospel, we must teach and offer salvation inside and outside the church walls. We must be willing to teach in foreign lands and unfamiliar neighborhoods to reach the masses and let them know that our Savior Jesus the Christ was crucified and died on the cross so that everyone may have the rights of salvation and eternal life. Because of Christ’s resurrection, we are made alive in Christ who now lives within us. (Colossians 3:1-17) Therefore, in order for you to have salvation and everlasting life, we must take off the old self and put on the new self. We must rid ourselves of the bad habits by daily renewing our mind by reading, studying, and obedience to God’s Word. (Romans 12:2) As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among
13
you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (v. 15-17)
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THE CYBER CITY OF GOD? The fusion of innovative technologies and Church Schools Lessons creates endless possibilities to teach God’s Word in a virtual meeting space. People who were not able to travel to Church School at the Church Building can now join the virtual Church School classroom from anywhere in the world by just clicking a link to join the virtual classroom. Teaching in cyber and virtual forums is the new norm in pedagogical teaching that expands well beyond the church walls. As Superintendents, Teachers, and Workers in the Church School, we can reach masses that have never been reached before through the Cyber City of God, so that we may offer salvation and each be saved through Jesus Christ! We magnify the Power of God because He can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ask or think. (Eph. 3:20-21). The concept of “Cyber City of God” does not end with the Capital District First Virtual Church School Convention. The Capital District Council has already established a forum to discuss implementing the concept and sharing innovative ideas to incorporate in our weekly Church School lessons. As other hear and see the fruition of the Cyber City of God, my prayer is that they will catch the Spirit and Power that enables teachers and bible scholars to witness the power to God and make disciples in unfamiliar neighborhoods who seek to become Believers and establish a relationship with God. Come and be a part of the Cyber City of God and “Glorify God Beyond Measure”!
CONCLUDING AND THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTIONS FOR THE TEACHERS OF GOD’S WORD 1. How do I envision the Cyber City of God as a Church School Superintendent, Teacher, Worker? 2. What innovative concepts, technical tools, social media, computer technologies, graphic arts, videos, etc. can I pull from the virtual and cyber environments to supplement lessons in the Cyber City of God? 3. What some ways that I can incorporate the Cyber City of God concept into the Local Church School weekly lessons. 4. How can I teach salvation in the Cyber City of God? 5. What precautions can be taken to ensure that hearsay and false teaching in the virtual and cyber environments do not filter into our weekly church school lessons. 6. We must be careful as teachers not to confuse the concept of the Cyber City of God with the Kingdom of God.

THANK YOU IT HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY! On behalf of our Presiding Elder, Rev. Johnny R. Calhoun, and the First Lady of the Capital District, Rev. Patricia Calhoun, we want to thank each and everyone of you for setting time aside to worship with us today. We pray that all the words that the Holy Spirit has spoken to us through His servants will bring us to both, the will of God and let us be fruitful in all our endeavors. It is our sincere hope that you have experienced, if not precisely, a revelation today, at least some awakening, some nudging in the direction of what is needed to be in a right relationship with God and have chosen to follow Him to see “what the end might be.” We are thankful to ALL who went the extra mile for your contribution to make this convention a success, including, Pastors and clergy, Capital District Executive Assistant, Church School Executive Board/Council, Area Superintendents, Church School Superintendents, Church School Teachers, The 2020 Youth and Young People Roundtable participants, The Steering Committee and the laity participation from all of the AME Churches in the Capital District. Your dedication has been a blessing to us all. This year, due to COVID-19, many of you were asked to participate more directly in the process of preparing a virtual Church School Convention — something we had never experienced. But with God on your side and with a spirit of fortitude, you “Kept Calm and Carried On.” We can truly say that this service was a connectional collaboration by all of the forty churches within the Capital District, thus, allowing an opportunity for a closer fellowship one with another. God always has a way of turning things around for our good. A special thanks to Pastor Etoria Goggins, and Pastor Mark Whitlock, who offered their fantastic Media/Production Team, (Rev.
