Sunday Travelling east we make a stop for lunch in Peterborough, then to our hotel in Old Hunstanton for our 4-night stay. Monday Today we commence with a visit to Norfolk Lavender. Founded in 1932, Norfolk Lavender is England’s premier lavender farm, renowned worldwide and has nearly 100 acres of lavender under cultivation. Set in beautiful tranquil gardens a visit to Norfolk Lavender is a must for all visitors to the West Coast of Norfolk. From here we continue to Royal Sandringham – Set in 24-hectares of stunning gardens and woodland, the Sandringham Estate is the much-l0ved country retreat of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our entrance includes the house, with a multi-media tour, the magnificent gardens and transport museum. Tuesday In the morning we visit the charming seaside resort of Wells-nextthe-Sea one of the loveliest towns on the North Norfolk Coast, with a rich fishing history. From here we continue to Walsingham. One of the most extraordinary villages in the British Isles, Walsingham is steeped in history with its collection of rare half-timbered medieval buildings and considered a holy pilgrimage place for more than 1,000 years. |In the afternoon we return to Hunstanton for free time. Wednesday This morning our destination is Felbrigg Hall (NT) one of the most elegant country houses in East Anglia. Truly a hidden gem, the Hall is a place of surprises and delights, a mixture of opulence and homeliness where each room has something to feed the imagination. Outside, the decorative and productive walled garden is a gardener’s delight, providing fruit and vegetables for the restaurant, flowers for the hall and inspiration. Thursday Homeward Bound.

Sunday We head to the market town of Melton Mowbray, home of the famous pork pie. Here, take time to wander around the town centre and maybe pop into “Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe” to watch a pie making demonstration and sample some of the goods. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants for lunch before continuing to our hotel for our 4-night stay. Monday We drive to the historic City of Lincoln with its magnificent Cathedral, and next to it the Norman Castle. First, we meet our guide for a familiarisation tour of the city on the coach, and later in the day we enjoy a guided tour of the Cathedral. The old town is a labyrinth of little alleyways and interesting shops to explore - there are plenty of tea rooms to keep you going. Tuesday This morning we call at the beautiful town of Stamford, packed full of art and craft shops, in time for lunch, and afterwards you have chance to discover the town. This afternoon we visit Burghley House, a 13,000-acre working Lincolnshire estate on the outskirts of Stamford. Built between 1555 and 1587 the awesome house is a Tudor House with 18 state rooms, beautiful gardens, orangery restaurant, shop and café. Wednesday Our day begins with a drive to Spalding. Here we visit Springfields Garden Centre with time to explore and time for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue to Belton House (NT), near Grantham. The perfect English country house, set in its own deer park, Belton was built in the 17th century and offers delightful gardens, orangery and lakeside walk. The house featured in BBC’s TV adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, starring Colin Firth. Thursday Departing our hotel after breakfast we commence our journey homeward, returning during the early afternoon.

Stay at the home of the Dambusters - the Petwood Hotel. Set in the charming village of Woodhall Spa in the heart of Lincolnshire, the hotel features original oak panelling, a beautifully carved oak staircase, 30 acres of stunning grounds including gardens designed by the eminent landscape architect Harold Peto which, following their restoration, are now Grade II listed, but it is as the Officers’ Mess of the legendary RAF 617 ‘Dambusters’ Squadron in WWII, that the Petwood is best known and the Squadron Bar is steeped in history and hosts a range of memorabilia and tributes. Sunday En-route to our hotel we visit the National Civil War Centre in Newark – the only museum in the UK dedicated to telling the complete story of the 17th century British Civil Wars – explore fabulous galleries that take you on a journey through this amazing period of our history. From here we continue to our hotel for our 4-night stay. Monday We visit the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, where you can view the exhibitions and enjoy a guided tour of the hangar where these historic aeroplanes are meticulously maintained. Next, we visit the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, where you can experience the atmosphere of a bomber airfield, complete with its own Lancaster bomber ‘Just Jane’. (Taxi Runs are not included). Tuesday Enjoy an excursion to the heart of the dramatic fenland to a gem of a market town, Boston, which is immersed in history and dominated by its 14th century St Botolph’s Church whose high tower is locally known as ‘The Stump’. Continue to Spalding, famous as the centre of the UK flower industry, with its elegant Georgian terraces and tree-lined river walks and visit the Springfield’s Outlet Shopping Centre and award-winning Festival Gardens. Wednesday Our ‘Aviation Heritage’ theme continues today with a visit to the Bomber Command Centre – a world class facility that serves as a point of recognition and remembrance for Bomber Command. In the afternoon we head to the historic city of Lincoln, whose cathedral towers majestically overlook the city and its many other historic attractions including a Norman castle and charming medieval and Georgian houses. Thursday Travelling outward via Whitchurch we visit Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, a former government-owned, vast and complex underground bunker that remained secret for over 50 years. We explore the site that has been rebuilt to how it was during the cold war. Later we visit the market town of Nantwich, before arriving at our hotel for our 3-night stay. Friday After breakfast relax before our late morning departure for the superb Arley Hall & Gardens. This beautiful Victorian country home is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has some of the finest gardens in the country. We have included entrance to the Hall with a tour and plenty of time to explore the extensive gardens. Arley was recently used in the hugely popular BBC show Peaky Blinders as the country home of the Shelby family. Saturday A memorable day out today as we head to Chester. We will be joined by our tour guide for a guided coach tour of the city including the 1000 year old cathedral, Roman Amphitheatre, the 700 year old Rows galleries shopping street, the River Dee and the most complete city walls in Britain. Plenty of free time after to enjoy this fantastic destination. Sunday Departing after breakfast we travel via Congleton over the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands to the delightful town of Buxton. Free time to explore the stunning Pavillion Gardens, or browse the traditional high street shops, before continuing home via Bakewell, home to the delicious Bakewell Tart!

Friday We travel via the British Ironwork Centre and Sculpture Park at Oswestry – a familyowned company, long dedicated to, and passionate about the preservation and creation of quality metal work, in all its forms. We then continue to our hotel for our 3 -night stay. Saturday We make the short journey to Ellesmere Port and the National Waterways Museum. Tea/Coffee and biscuits are served upon our arrival followed by a guided tour of the museum. We then enjoy a 30-minute cruise on the Shropshire Union Canal. Later we continue to Port Sunlight for a guided tour. Port Sunlight is a unique and beautiful 19th century garden village created solely for the Sunlight Soap factory workers. Step inside Port Sunlight Museum and meet the village’s creator, ‘Soap King’ William Hesketh Lever and discover his vision for the village and its residents. Sunday Today we visit historic Chester where we include a tranquil 30-minute cruise along the River Dee with commentary outlining all the interesting facts about Chester’s rich history. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this wonderful walled city. Monday We travel to Anderton for a cruise including the famous boat lift, built in 1875 to provide a 50ft vertical link between the River Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal. We return home during the afternoon.

Monday We drive north stopping en-route at Salford Quays, Greater Manchester’s unique waterfront destination. Home to the Imperial War Museum North and The Lowry amongst others the Quays offers a fantastic choice of things to do and see before we continue to our hotel for our 4-night stay. Tuesday Enjoy a jaunt up the coast to Lancashire’s entertainment capital, Blackpool. It is a real contrast to the calmness of our resort, with awardwinning attractions and the world-famous Blackpool Tower and Ballroom. This evening enjoy a Guided Illuminations drive taking you through the 6 miles of dazzling “artificial sunlight” as over a million lamps, lasers and light bulbs create this electric extravaganza. If you think you’ve seen them before, don’t believe it – each year brings fantastic new features! Wednesday A day at leisure to experience the wide-open sandy beaches of St Annes with its traditional pier, beach huts, mini links golf or the pretty green and historic windmill on Lytham Green offering views across to Southport and even North Wales on a clear, sunny day. Making a welcome return in 2022 we are delighted to be able to feature a tour to the glorious Gibbon Bridge Hotel – Ideally located for exploring the highlights of Lancashire and uncovering its wonderful local heritage. Privately owned, this 30 bedroomed 4-star country hotel is in the heart of the Ribble Valley, nestling in 23 acres of beautiful gardens surrounded by the Forest of Bowland – an area of rugged, unspoilt countryside in rural Lancashire.

Monday Travelling north we visit Samlesbury Hall, a fabulous half-timbered black and white medieval house built in 1325. A guided tour takes us around and brings its history to life. From here it’s a short drive to our hotel located in the Lancashire Fells for our 4-night stay. Tuesday The interior décor and flower arrangements at the Gibbon Bridge are always a major talking point and today, after breakfast, we have a talk and flower arranging demonstration. After included morning coffee we then meet the Head Gardener for a tour of the hotel’s magnificent gardens. Following an included light lunch, we enjoy an afternoon visit to Browsholme Hall, the ancestral home of the Parkers, Bowbearers of the Forest of Bowland since Tudor times. Enjoy the Hall’s magnificent architecture, fabulous interiors and antique furnishings – the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Forest of Bowland and a real hidden gem. Wednesday Today we visit Morecambe followed by an afternoon tour of Leighton Hall to gain a fascinating insight in to the story of the famous Lancashire furniture making dynasty; the Gillow family. Wander through the spectacular grounds and witness breathtaking displays from trained birds of prey. (Refreshments included). Thursday Visit Bashall Barns – an extensively stocked farm shop where you can buy fresh local produce in a fantastic rural location. Next, we continue to Clitheroe Castle Museum, which stands high on Castle Hill and has dominated Clitheroe’s skyline for over 800 years. It tells the story of Clitheroe and its surrounding area: the formation of the land 350 million years ago; the people who have lived in the area – their work, their homes; and legends and folklore. Friday Our homeward journey includes a visit to the fashionable seaside resort of Southport, before returning home during the evening.
