We wanted to honor the Class of 2020 in this edition, in the interest of bandwidth — and your eyesight — we broke the profiles up for the smartphone articles. These profiles are for those students whose last names begin with S through Z:
Luke Sanderford

School: Western Carolina University
Luke, your determination and perseverance are awe-inspiring. Even a global pandemic could not keep you from finishing engineering school strong! Be proud of what you have accomplished. You have much to offer the world. We love you and are so proud of you! — Mom and Dad
Madeleine Selah
Hometown: Clayton
School: Clayton High School
Maddy was a four-year member of Clayton High School’s marching band as part of the color guard and a member of the winter guard program. She will attend JCC and N.C. State to pursue a degree in psychology and counseling. We are so very proud of her hard work and can’t wait to watch where this life takes her. Scott Sellers
Hometown: Kenly
School: North Johnston High School
Scott played soccer for four years. He was all-conference, all region and allcounty this year. Scott also played tennis all four years, although this year was cut short. He is also an FFA officer and a member of National Honor Society. — Shannon Sellers
Anna Smith
Hometown: Four Oaks
School: South Johnston High School
At SJHS, Anna participated on the swim and cheer teams, was a member of HOSA and served as a Trojan Ambassador her senior year. She was honored to receive the first-runner up and talent awards during the 2018 Miss South Johnston Pageant. Anna is a member of Four Oaks UMC, where she is active in her youth group, organizes food for BackPack Buddies’ monthly distribution, teaches Sunday school and serves on the Safe Sanctuary Committee. She will attend JCC in the fall to earn an associate’s degree in cosmetology. — Susan Smith
Adam Souter
Hometown: Clayton
School: Clayton High School
Adam has been active in the Horne United Methodist youth group, a member of the two-time state championship tennis team and will graduate summa cum laude. Adam is looking forward to attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall. — Stephanie Souter
Amanda Spears
Hometown: Benson
School: South Johnston High School
Amanda has earned two Presidential Service Awards and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award. She was also a junior marshal, National Honor Society member, Hispanic Honor Society member and a Trojan Ambassador. In addition, she earned an Academic All- Conference award and a varsity letter for soccer. Her extracurricular clubs and activities also include: vice president of Save A Life Club, FCCLA, dance classes at Alicia’s School of Performing Arts, Benson Baptist Church Children and Youth Council student representative, Benson Baptist Church usher and member of Benson Baptist Church Youth Group. — Sandra Spears
Gabrielle Sweeney

School: Corinth Holders
Gabby is very sad to be missing out on some of the best moments a senior experiences. However, she still has amazing memories of four great years where she was a member of the step team, FFA and HOSA. She played tennis, maintained honor roll each year, competitively danced for 10 years and has made some lasting friendships and relationships with teachers to cherish. Caleb Turner

School: Cleveland High School
Caleb is an outstanding student who expects to graduate summa cum laude. A talented musician, he played in the percussion section of band since his freshman year, including concert band, marching band and winter percussion. He was selected for All-County and All-District band multiple times. He’s also an Eagle Scout and a member of the National Honor Society. Caleb plans to attend UNC Chapel Hill, majoring in business with a concentration in finance and investments. — Cindy Turner
Chandler Stephenson

School: South Johnston High School
Chandler is a 2020 graduate of South Johnston and a member of the Trojans’ soccer team.
Kelli Thomas
Hometown: Garner
School: Cleveland High School
Kelli is very friendly and inclusive. She always has a heart for the troubled or in need. Kelli played four years on the very successful Cleveland High volleyball team. She received four years of academic all-conference and athletic all-conference honorable mention her senior season. In addition to her high school team, she also played for Triangle Volleyball Club. After high school graduation, she plans to attend Wake Technical Community College and pursue a business degree. — Deanna Thomas
Katy Tutor

School: West Johnston High School
Katy is an honors student who is a member of National Honor Society (current vice president), HOSA, FCA, Do Something Club and the women’s tennis team. Special thanks to Colleen Bonner, Elizabeth Gurkin, Kathy Feola, April Stephenson, Yvette Davis and Anissa Holmes who have made such an impact on Katy’s life. Katy has been accepted to UNC Wilmington and plans to pursue a degree in nursing with hopes to one day work in a NICU or pediactrics department. — Jessica Tutor

I am attending JCC in the fall and majoring in accounting and finance. I would like to thank my dad and stepmom for being there for me and for always encouraging me to stay focused to reach my goals.

Madison was born into riding horses, competing and winning several competitions carrying on her grandfather’s passion. She grew up around her grandparents’ farm and developed a huge love for animals, so it is no surprise she wants a career in marine biology. The sky is the limit, Madison. Kyndal is a 2020 graduate of South Johnston High School. She will be attending the University of Mount Olive where she will major in biology and play softball. At South Johnston, Kyndal is a scholar athlete who has been a four-year starter on varsity. Kyndal was honored by Maxpreps, and was awarded a scholarship to play softball at Mount Olive. Once a Trojan, always a Trojan.

Christian played football all four years at Cleveland High School. He plans to attend Johnston Community College for criminal justice to be a crime scene investigator. Kaitlyn Zhoroff

School: Corinth Holders High School
Kaitlyn is a senior at Corinth Holders High School and will be graduating cum laude. She will be attending Meredith College and will study pre-law. She then plans to attend law school to practice family law. Kaitlyn received the Meredith College Academic Merit Scholarship, was the President of Circle of Friends, was a member of the National Honor Society, participated in community theater, volunteered at Special Olympics and played varsity tennis.
Ruthie Zieverink

School: Princeton High School
Ruthie is the chaplain of her senior class. She participates in yearbook, safe teen driving and Beta Club. She is a member of the soccer, cross country, winter and spring track teams. Ruthie is also a student leader for her church youth group. She will attend UNC to study business next year. — Amy Zieverink
