Welcome to Connected on Purpose 2018! Thank you for joining us in our first young adult conference! We hope the activities of today leave you refreshed and energized. Our goal is that you learn the importance of being connected to fellow Christians and discover some practical ways to connect to others in a Christ-centered way. The schedule today begins and ends with a whole-group session in which Pastor Dave Marriott will challenge us from the Word of God. Throughout the day, you will have opportunities to participate in three small-group sessions, a Q&A time, and a few fun games. Be sure to take advantage of the snacks and coffee available in the main foyer during breaks, and check out the digital book table to peruse physical copies of our book recommendations. Please make use of the resources throughout this booklet to strengthen your connections, and don’t hesitate to reach out to a staff member here at Calvary Baptist Church with questions! KEYNOTE SPEAKER DAVE MARRIOTT | LAKEWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH Dave and his wife, Emiley, together with a small group of believers, established Lakewood in the fall of 2009. The Marriotts reside in the town of Ottawa with Ellery, their daughter, along with their Labrador retrievers.

The CBC Connect Group is a place for young adults, ages 18 to 35, to connect and open up to each other about our real, everyday struggles. It’s also a place to discuss what is going on in our lives, pray with each other, and share truth. Weekly and monthly events occur to facilitate these connections. Since being part of the Connect Group, I have seen lives changed by truth-speaking relationships. I have learned the importance of running to Christ first and ministering out of an overflow of what God is doing. After taking a job in a city where I knew no one, Calvary’s Young Adult Group was God truly showing He always has a plan for us. It was so comforting to come to an event and instantly feel welcomed and invited to be part of something good. Being in your mid-20s to mid-30s is an odd time in life, and it is so great to be surrounded by people in similar life situations who are trying whole-heartedly to follow God and what He has planned for their lives.
