■讀一讀。 Welcome to the party! A party is an occasion where people get together for fun. At a party, people talk, enjoy food and make new friends. A birthday party is thrown to celebrate someone’s birthday. Besides gifts, the birthday person may be surprised when they come to the party because it was not expected. That is why it is called a surprise party. A holiday party is to celebrate holidays like Christmas, Halloween or New Year. People usually prepare traditional food for the party. A housewarming party is given by someone who has just moved into a new house. Friends and family are invited to the new house to make it feel warm. To enjoy more fun of being together with friends, people may get dressed in eye-catching clothes and wear a cool mask or strange hat. It is what happens at a costume party.
