Fresh Felix an effort to reach out to kids and teach them the importance of healthy eating. Yes, food is that stuff we put in our mouths, chew up, and swallow so we're not hungry anymore. That is the ultimate goal of eating. But Fresh Felix aims to show kids that solving hunger isn't thing food does. Food provides us with nutrients, and vitamins that we need to feel good. That's what Fresh Felix aims for- to show kids the alternative to fast food; Good food! And hopefully be able to instill healthier eating habits into their lives.
Fresh Felix has created lesson plans and distributes them to school for teachers to use during their lesson plans. The assignments are fun and engaging for the students. They assignments are easy, sometimes assigning simple homework for them to do, as going home and make lunch with mom.

Biggie Burgers: It’s career day at Brussels Elementary, Felix and Marty decide that they want to learn the ins and outs of their favorite restaurant Biggies. The manager Carl shows them the not so wonderful world of processed meats and produce that aren’t fresh, and FRENCH FRIES DROPPED IN GREASE! Marty and Felix learn that it’s best to buy fresh and to have fried/fatty foods in moderation. No matter how much they love it. Tips for Eating Healthy When Eating Out: -As a beverage choice, ask for water or order fat-free or low-fat milk, unsweetened tea, or other drinks without added sugars. -Ask for whole-wheat bread for sandwiches. -In a restaurant, start your meal with a salad packed with veggies, to help control hunger and feel satisfied sooner. -Ask for salad dressing to be served on the side. Then use only as much as you want. -Choose main dishes that include vegetables, such as stir fries, kebobs, or pasta with a tomato sauce. -Order steamed, grilled, or broiled dishes instead of those that are fried or sautéed. -Choose a small" or "medium" portion. This includes main dishes, side dishes, and beverages

Activity of The Week: The children will have the chance to make homemade peanut butter to have with Fresh celery, and raisins/PBJ for snack. Result: - Students should differentiate foods that are good/bad for them -Understand why fast food isn’t always the best choice -Students gain satisfaction Recipe of The Week: Homemade Peanut Butter Prep time: about 10 minutes Ingredients: 1
1½ c. unsalted roasted peanuts

1 tbsp. peanut oil
Utensils: 1
food processor (you'll need help from your adult assistant)

Directions: For smooth peanut butter:
1.
Mix the peanuts with the peanut oil, and pour the mixture into the food processor.
2.
Process the mixture until it's very smooth.
3.
Store your smooth peanut butter in a sealed container in the fridge. It will be good for 2 weeks.
For chunky peanut butter: 1.
Take about Ÿ cup out of your 1½ cups of peanuts and set them aside.
2.
Mix the rest of the peanuts with the oil, and pour the mixture into the food processor.
3.
Process the mixture until it's very smooth, then stir in the peanuts that you had set aside.
4.
Process a few seconds more to create the chunks in your chunky peanut butter.
5.
Store your chunky peanut butter in a sealed container in the fridge. It will be good for 2 weeks.

Spinach Pie: Marty and Felix spend the day playing copy cat. Everything is smooth sailing until Felix tries to coerce Marty into admitting that he loves spinach. Marty hates spinach, but he’s never tried spinach before! Felix and Raz come up with a plan to get him to try it. Spinach Pie! Questions to ask the class: - Have you liked a food that you didn’t think you would? - Why do you think Marty didn’t like spinach even though he never had it?
Activity of The Week: The children will have the opportunity to try one of 3 different foods 1) Spinach Pie 2) Confetti Quinoa 3) Hummus and Pita Bread . Result: - Students gain satisfaction in trying a new food -Kids learn not to judge food from appearance -Students gain satisfaction Recipe of The Week: Prep Time: 20 minutes What you need: 1
1½ cups low-sodium vegetable stock or water

1 cup quinoa, thoroughly rinsed and drained

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup frozen chopped, mixed vegetables such as peas, carrots, green beans, corn
Equipment and supplies: 1
Medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid

What to do: 1.
Add vegetable stock or water to medium saucepan.
2.
With an adult's help, bring stock or water to a boil over medium-high heat.
3.
Stir in quinoa, salt, and pepper.
4.
Switch heat to low and cover pot with lid.
5.
Cook until liquid is evaporated and quinoa is tender, about 15 minutes.
6.
Remove lid and stir in veggies with a fork.
7.
Place lid back on quinoa so that the heat from the quinoa cooks the vegetables.
8.
Serve immediately or place into an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Fresh Felix Marketing Tactics Timeline: Jan.-May Marty’s Field After school field day
Select schools will have a special after school field day. Felix mascot will be in attendance with customizing games that help promote healthy food decisions and an active lifestyle. The kids will all go home with Fresh Felix tangible goods including stickers, bracelets, and special codes that unlock more fresh Felix content.
Parent’s goodies include parody happy meal boxes. And burger king crowns that showcase the unhealthy ingredients within these iconic meals. These will be used to put fast food in perspective for parents. These meal boxes also included a lump of a fat which is the equivalent to what children would consume from eating the meal.
Fresh Felix sponsored Mommy and I cooking challenge: Children pair up with their mothers and come up with healthy alternative meals to fast food options. Send in picture and mini story to the Fresh Felix website Winners will win a special prize and child with be featured in a fresh Felix comic and a variety of other prices varying on which place one comes in. Fresh Felix at the Park installations
These installations are removable and will be placed within park districts. These installations will have activities aligned with them and allows children to be physically active and have a nonclassroom or home related personal experience with felix and his friends. This also gives opportunity to reach children beyond the ones who are in the selected classrooms. These will be available for the entire duration of the campaign and also information that allows and encourage the children to visit felix on his website.
Fresh Felix Garden, April 22, 2014: On have fresh Felix sponsored grow and prosper community garden launch in food desert areas in select cities. The characters will be in attendance to interact, mentor, and teach the children how to the garden and its benefits.
Mangi Veggie, Fresh Felix App The app will developed and marketed towards parents with iOS operating software. In the style of cooking mama, and Toka monsters, allows the students to make healthy food choices for Felix and his Taste Buddies, cultivate and tend to their own garden, as well as fun recipes to do at home with parents!
