Hi, my name is Jordi Poblet and this is my portfolio

The details are not the details. They make the design. Charles Eames

product designer and industrial engineer Born in Barcelona in 1987, I Graduate in Honors as a product designer and industrial engineer in ELISAVA, Superior School of Design of Barcelona. I believe that a product has to be as functional as aesthetic. I believe that good designs come from fresh and spontaneous ideas. Sometimes, the design process only makes you see that the best option was the first you came up with. I get inspiration from, sea and sealife, quiet music and Scandinavian design. My professional references are Charles and Ray Eames, Ross Lovegrove and Konstantin Grcic.

2009 This project tries to reinterpret how to use a faucet. With the background to prevent stains caused by lime in water, it innovates in the way of using the object. The main action is, changing the position of the handles which are in the lower part. Both pads move simultaneously, allowing use with both hands. The interesting is that, as a result, we have an object that gives a new formal language, that proceeds from a new use.

ohm design Jordi Poblet

2010 The intention is to simplify the shape of a watch. The tense curves, integrate the body and the strap connections. The spaces between the straps and box, are there to lighten the composition. At the same time, the strength, that shows the body, leads to a high quality and durable product. This project was on the final selection of Watchcelona Contest in 2010.

kokoon design Jordi Poblet

2010 Kokoon is a soap for nurseries. The cord that includes de piece, allows to hang it on the faucet to facilitate its use to children, and teachers. The cord becomes part of the soap on the molding process. With a set of colors, smells and touch, the Kokoon soap becomes an object that helps the psychomotor development of the children. The packaging has been designed for 4 units as a way to save material and space, on logistics.

bubble design Carla Cava and Jordi Poblet

2011 The intention is to go one step further of it’s function. With the shape of a “comic bubble”, and the Circuit inside, the drivers and riders on the podium, are “saying” they were condecorated in the “Circuit de Catalunya”. This project was rewarded as the winner of “Dissenya el Trofeu del Circuit de Catalunya” contest, promoted by “Agència Catalana de la Joventud” and “Circuit de Catalunya” in 2011.

2011 In order to encourage a sense of neighborhood, in Barcelona’s Sant Antoni neighborhood, and taking advantage of the redevelopment of one of their icons, the Market of Sant Antoni, a special tile was designed for the occasion. The design of the piece has two references: On the one hand, the central cross is the figure of the market from above. Moreover, the shape is inscribed in one of the octogonal islands from the Cerdà Plan of Barcelona’s Eixample.

2011 This is the redesign of the traditional key, with additive manufacturing, being the unique production process capable to produce these parts. Thanks to the hidden teeth, the system is more secure. The stacking and rotation of the modules is obtained from the addition of two neodymium magnets. All pieces are lighter, due to be hollow inside. The user, modifies and configures their keys, depending on the season. We don’t need to carry those keys we never use, now everything is more neat and tidy.

2008 The chaise longue has always been an indoor-use piece of furniture. This project proposes an outdoor use. That is why the materials chosen for the piece, are perfectly adapted to weather inclemences. The polyethylene, special synthetic fibers and all kinds of treated wood can be used in the manufacturing of the piece.

jack design Carla Cava and Jordi Poblet

2010 The project proposes new ways to share space with lamps. In this case, the lamp can fit almost in everywhere. You can put it on shelves mixed with books, or on a table near to the bed. The structure is a wooden square that hangs on a side the light shield. This combination makes the light bounce in all the structure faces. For it’s simplicity, Jack, gets an unique aesthetic design.

nairobi design Jordi Poblet

2010 The Nairobi Chair, is designed with the purpose to make a chair without any tools on it’s assembly. This asembly is easy and intuitive. The chair is composed of 5 pieces of laminated wood, and is perfectly functional and estable, eventhough no extra material or pieces are needed on the assembly. The small volume that the chair occupies when disassembled, allows to keep it anywhere.

2010 The future of transport is uncertain. It seems electric engines will replace gasoline, in our urban vehicles. This project gives a new possibility for urban motorcycles. This design tries to give a new perception of what an electric motorcycle really is. It incorporates traditional but greener materials, never forgetting new technologies and new tendencies. Do we really need those big plastic parts? Do we really need so much weight? Do we really need the same design for motorcycles?

2009 Jet fans are a type of industrial fans whose function is to push the smoke that builds up inside car parks and garages, to ensure air quality, and in case of fire, evacuate harmful gases. The design of the device tries to make a sculpture honouring the shape of the wind. It comunicates fluidity, while at the same time, is aesthetic. The project transforms a very industrial object, to a more integrated and aesthetic device.

2010 Racing vehicles are probably the most efficiently designed prototypes in the world. The tiniest detail could affect on the behavior out on the track. This project, not only tries to give an efficient aerodynamic behavior of the bike, also, takes values of proportion, rounded shapes, that make the bike more aesthetic. The project won the 1srt prize of the “Design of a fairing for Moto2” contest, promoted by MIR Racing Team.

gaudio&pla design Ferran CĂ ceres, Oscar PĂŠrez and Jordi Poblet

2008 The projects propose a radical new design for this urban furniture piece. It also innovates giving new technical solutions for lighting (LED technology), and the union between units. Introduces the double-color unit, injected all at once with the Inmold Decoration technology (IMD). Both projects were rewarded, one with 2nd prize (Gaudio) and the other one, Special Mention (Pla) in the New semaphore for Barcelona contest, in 2008.

pinseum design Jordi Poblet

2009 This project is interesting in the way that the purpose is to create a corporative image for a special museum. The objects that take part on the musuem are “pins. These singular collection objects are very appreciate by collectors and the owner wanted to show his 10,000 pin collection to the world. The project was more than making a logo. It required the naming, all the corporative image and the design of some souvenirs and the apperture event.

Shoei Lascorz design Jordi Poblet for SalomStudio

2011 This design was specially made for spaniard Kawasaki Superbike rider, Joan Lascorz. The design had to be an adaptation of the 70’s 500cc rider Eddie Lawson’s design. That’s why the three dominant colours are red, blue and white for the background. All the graphic details are made to show velocity and simplicity at the same time. This project was made on collaboration with Isaac Salom from SalomStudio Design.

balandra design Jordi Poblet

2011 This project was made for a young business consultancy agency, that needed all the corporative image, including naming and website. The project gets inspiration on navigation and sailboats, beacause there is no other place where team-work is so necessary. The name is a reference of a little typical sailboat of the Mediterranian Sea, the “balandra, simplyfied with two curves.
