Hungarian Scouting today Our Scouting Our symbols The unique symbol of Hungarian scouting is the internationally used fleur-de-lis, decorated with the Hungarian royal crown. Above the right pocket of the uniform, there is a triangular badge containing the Hungarian coat of arms, borne by two angels. Interestingly, this jamboree badge became the official national badge. The white stag is a popular, unofficial symbol of Hungarian scouting.

Members There are approximately 9 000 scouts in Hungary, with additional active troops beyond the country’s borders. The movement is co-educated, with roughly the same number of boys and girls. Our scouts have religious affiliations, most being Catholic, with a smaller proportion of Protestants.

Age Groups Scouting in Hungary starts at the age of 6. The scouts belong to age groups that are marked by the different colors of their neckerchiefs: Cubscouts: 6-11 years (different colored neckerchiefs in each troop) Scouts: 12-18 years, green Rover: 19- ~26 years, grey Adult: above 26 years, brown

Activities

In addition to participating in weekly patrol meetings, numerous other programs await Sebesültszáll ító cserkés our scouts. Each troop holds a 10-day summer camp which is always held in natural surroundings under nomad conditions. Nature programs are very important to Hungarian scouts, so there are frequent walking tours and backpacking. Special branches of scouting provide opportunities to develop experience and knowledge in aquatic sports, cave exploration or folklore. We also contribute to our communities through voluntary activities.
