for Disease Control and Prevention. The individual who tested positive for coronavirus is isolated and receiving medical care at a local hospital in San Antonio, said Ron Nirenberg, mayor of San Antonio, in a Thursday press conference. The individual was part of a group that was flown to a San Antonio Air Force base on a State Department-chartered flight
from Hubei Province, China on Feb. 7. Of the 91 people on the flight o n l y one showed symptoms, Nirenberg said. The other 90 members in the group are considered "at high risk of having been exposed to this virus," the CDC said. They are subject to a temporary 14-day quarantine on the military base and will be released Feb. 20, said Captain Jennifer McQuiston, the deputy director of the center’s Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology. "On Feb. 7, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services began transporting American citizens evacuated from the Hubei province of China and Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Air Force base was one
of the four designated quarantine sites," Nirenberg said. Americans evacuated from Hubei province arrived at military bases in Texas, Nebraska and California, according to the CDC. The bases include: Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif., Marine Corps Air Atation Miramar in San Diego, and Eppley Airfield in Omaha, Neb. The San Antonio case is the 15th confirmed case of the virus in the United States, according to the CDC. There will likely be more cases in the next few days and weeks, including other people who've recently returned
from Wuhan, China, according to the written release. U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, whose district includes much of Air Force base, said on a Thursday press call that he was happy with the collaboration between federal agencies and local authorities. He stressed that San Antonians who work in medical facilities where the patient is treated are safe, and that those medical professionals are tested as well after interacting with the person with coronavirus. Castro said he, along with other lawmakers, signed a letter in support of reimbursing local government for its work containing coronavirus. Last month, the World Health Organization declared the deadly coronavirus outbreak a global health emergency — the sixth declaration of its kind in the past decade. Worldwide, there have been more than 60,000 confirmed cases of the
pneumonia-like virus. More than 1,300 people have died in China from the virus so far. Samuel Manas contributed to this report. Art and the kid
I know it’s hard to believe, but I too was once a kid. Growing up in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans, I had access to some of the greatest symphonic and jazz known to man. My mother and sister how I envied them. Beautiful penmanship and what fabulous artists they were and are. My mom passed away quite a few years ago, but my little sister, yeah, even though she retired as a high school teacher but what a fantastic artist she is and best of all she was able to combine the music and art of New Orleans and believe me it is glorious and you can see some of her handy work at https://pattymcgehee-jukejointjunkie.blogspot.com/ As for me and art. I tried to draw hot rods and design subdivisions but I’ll never forget how crushed I was when a art teacher I had pleaded with our principal Mr. Russell not to let me take art again next school year. As a kid I even watched John Gnagy to see if I could paint by number, but alas and alac, had no art skills. Later on I found out I was partially color blind between blues and greens. Maybe that is partially what was wrong with me. However on we also found out I had no
hand eye cordination.I still Never the less I still ap preciate the fact that in grade school we went to the New Orleans Philharmonic every six weeks. and I even went on dates to the Delgado Museum of art in City Park. Delgado is now named New Orleans Museum of art and that is a bone of contention for another time and place. No, I never became an accomplished artist like my mother, or my sister, however I did teach my self some graphic design and started my first of two publications in 1995. Our first publication was the Sunny Shopper and our current publication Lone Star Shopper has been going strong since July of 2007. I guess I say all of this to parents who may be reading this. If you have a budding, or even a not so budding artist in your family, encourage him or her to keep trying to become the next Picasso, or Rembrandt. If they show an interest in a musical instrument encourage that. Remember, tomorrow’s artists artists will come from today’s students. Thank you for reading the Lone Star Shopper. We’re out of debt and both of us make good money, plus we each have 20-year level term life insurance policies with coverage equaling 10 times our individual incomes. We also have an emergency fund equal to six months of expenses. I recently received a promotion at work, with a subsequent raise of $10,000. Should I update my life insurance policy to reflect this

After my wife and I split up a couple of years later, we made sure everything was current, cancelled service with that company, and we all went to different providers. A debt collector called me last week saying I owed $4,000 on 19 different devices. When I called our old provider, they said I owed $4,000 on nine devices. I asked for a current, itemized statement of the devices that were still out and the bill. So far, I haven’t heard anything back. What do you think I should do?
