A New Canarsie Lane Miles Forminard, Russell Harman, Joshua Tarn
Our project proposes to renegotiate the use of sites along Canarsie Lane to re-create a publicly accessible pedestrian space. In an effort to unearth circulatory routes of the past, our project seeks to connect the residential and commercial areas across Utica Avenue by means of linking open spaces.

Too much cars, you can t get no parking in the street. As I was saying I m going down to Church A ve, and I have to leave my car at the supermarket and tell the manager I m going down by Church. ut there s no parking so have to leave the car in the parking lot over there... - Dana Anglen, a resident for over 20 years, on Utica Avenue
Department o Health Data Road Conditions
It seems like a lot of people that I ve spoken to about this neighborhood usually say that it s far from a lot of things within walking distance cafes, bars, whatnot. The bus is really reliable, the B , but getting across to Bed- tuy is not super easy - Marico, a transplant to the area on the the neighborhood day-to-day life
Department o Health Data Diseases
There s a park right over there. It s de nitely heavily populated though . - Marico, a new transplant, to the area on green spaces

Concluding Statement and Goals
The New Canarsie Lane proposes to re-establish the presence and importance of the pedestrian in East Flatbush. By developing under-utilized open spaces across Canarsie Lane, a path that cuts through the urban grid, we intend to improve neighborhood health and quality of life by providing access to infrastructures that cultivate environmental resilience and comfort. We hope to extend this scheme across a wider network, aiming to link spaces throughout East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and New York City as a whole.
