It’s always tropical at SunCity in Halifax 1569 Dresden Row, Upper Level // Downtown Halifax // 902.423.2222 Halifax’s Alessandra Pagnottella and her family have been in the tanning industry since the early 90’s, but it wasn’t until 2013 that they acquired Nova Scotia’s largest tanning salon: Sun City Tanning Studio located in the core of downtown Halifax.

How many beds does Sun City have? We have 10 beds: 3 standup and 7 laydown. We also have a VersaSpa which is our automated sunless system. We’re adding two more beds within the next couple months!

As we’re affiliated with the hair salon, we also carry hair products: MoroccanOil, Aveda, Matrix, Redken and more.

Which types of beds does Sun City have? We have 20 minute laydown beds, 12 minute laydown beds and 10 minute stand-up beds. They all provide the same levels of UV exposure, just in a shorter or longer timeframe. We offer an automated sunless system as well, the VersaSpa.

What is unique about Sun City? Sun City is the largest tanning salon in Nova Scotia – we are located in the heart of the city, in a very private, relaxing and welcoming environment. We offer tanning beds, sunless service and teeth whitening, with the best prices and best selection of beds and lotions. We pride ourselves on cleanliness and sanitization, and our staff are fully trained in every aspect of the salon.

fun horoscopes

Dan "Mr. April" Hendricken Q&A with

Horoscopes ARIES When it comes to money and resources, your judgment is bad today. You fight your corner, but is it wise? Children and loved ones get radical.

PISCES There may be a moody atmosphere and you pick up suppressed emotional signals from people who probably don’t approve of something but won’t say so.

AQUARIUS Partners and people generally are in a rush today, and the atmosphere is a little uptight. Nobody wants to listen to anyone else’s opinions or advice.

CAPRICORN A friend or a child may not be on their best behavior, and that can be irritating. The way things are going at the moment, you don’t have much control of things.

SAGITTARIUS People might puff and complain, but you are quite satisfied with the changes now taking place. A sense of liberation means that you are free to be creative and experiment.

SCORPIO The moon in your sign makes you feel strongly about things, and perhaps you feel something is unfair. You can’t deal with it, but a partner may be able to.

LIBRA This is a time when sharing and intimacy are very much on your mind. Today someone seems selfish and unreasonable. Perhaps you need to show who has the strongest cards.

Comedian

Ian Black

VIRGO Pandora’s box is open, and all sorts of things are jumping out. You are willing to take risks, whilst other people are more circumspect, thought they may maintain a stubborn silence.

LEO Matters get a bit tied up because of heavyhanded leadership. You are ready to take radical steps to develop your future horizons. Don’t expect everyone to be supportive.

TAURUS A partner is extraordinarily stubborn today, perhaps because feelings get the better of him or her. On the sidelines someone with extreme beliefs makes a move.

TOP10

bartender of the month

THINGS TO BRING DOWN SOUTH!

3. Beach towel: Yes, the resort will have white bath towels you could probably use as a beach towel, but they are small and not really meant for the beach! Pick up a bright and colourful beach towel to distinguish your place on the beach or by the pool. 2. Sun glasses/hat: Your face, head and chest are usually the first things to burn so during those peak hours or when you’ve had too much sun make sure to cover up with a big hat, or even a ball cap! This will help prevent your scalp from burning and causing dry flakes! You’ll also want to keep your eyes safe from the sun… just be careful not to get a sunglass tan!

1. Travel mug: Unless you want to carry around those puny cups of mix drinks with ice that melts faster than butter on a pan, I suggest you bring a travel mug to keep your drinks cool and icy! Plus, they hold more! SCHAUS

Birthdays this month

JENNER

7. Mini but mighty set of speakers: These days, you can get great quality compact speakers for roughly $20! Pick up a pair of these and bring them down south with you. They are great for pumping you up when

4.Bathing suits... and lots of them: You will literally be living in your bathing suit for the next week, so make sure to pack one for every day or every second day. Think of your bathing suit like underwear or boxers… you wouldn’t re-wear those everyday would you?

MIKE

8. A carry on: : no suit case required! This year, avoid the extra fees for luggage and the possibility of a lost suitcase and just pack a carry on.

5. Beach/Tote bag: Once you leave your room in the morning, chances are you won’t be back until dinner! It’s time to relax on the beach, go for a swim, have a few drinks or whatever else! Don’t make the mistake of having to go back and forth to your room because you forgot something, just pack a light beach bag in your carry on and fill that sucker every time you go to beach! Bring water, a book, sunscreen, your iPod, camera, notebook... whatever!

KRISTIN

9. Sunscreen, aloe vera and lotion: Avoid burning to a crisp then dealing with dry, peeling skin all week! Load on the sunscreen in the morning and as much as you feel necessary (trust me, you will still tan! You’ll just avoid a nasty burn). Then each evening, cover your skin or any red areas with aloe vera. Finally, lather up with lotion to keep your skin soft and moisturized.

6. Cash: Unless you are planning on buying drinks on the plane, you really only need cash when on an allinclusive resort for tipping, buying local souvenirs or snacks at the on-site shop.

KELSEY

10. An iPod with the PERFECT playlist: A week of non-stop partying is fun, but you will still want your downtime lying on the beach, soaking up the sun and recovering from the previous night’s disco bar. Bring an iPod and headphones with you to the beach when you want to relax for an hour and fill it with the best beachy songs such as If You Like Pina Coladas, Drink in My Hand, Don’t Worry Be Happy and more!

getting ready for a night out and are even great to bring to the beach with you!

JUSTIN

Exams are coming to an end, and whether it’s your last or first year of university, the end of April is the most popular time students go down south for an all-inclusive vacation! Apart from the essentials (passport, photo ID, deodorant, tooth brush, medication etc.) here are my top 10 things to bring with you on your next all inclusive vacation!
