3 Major Emphasis Projects
4 keep kids warm blanket drive
For the second year in a row, nine year old Emma Burkhart is working with the local businesses to keep kids warm through the winter months. Emma says she came up with the "Keep Kids Warm Blanket Drive" after she received two of the same blanket last year. She set to work on collecting blankets, asking for donations. This year she has collected 270 blankets so far. The goal is 350 blankets. All of the donations will go to the children of Families Feeding Families, Adopt-a-Block Program, & Student Assistance Program. Blankets will be collected up until December 15th. The bell ringing season starts each November and runs through Christmas Eve, when the red buckets are packed up until next year. Volunteers are the difference between an empty bucket and one that raises about $30 per hour ‒ enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries, or shelter an individual for a night
