about us
Founded in 1984, the Australian Girls Choir is known as the country’s leading performing arts organisation for girls, and today has over 3500 young choristers in training across five states of Australia.
Girls have fun and make new friends as they learn singing, dancing and performing in our dynamic weekly classes. They are encouraged to extend themselves musically and let their personalities shine in all performances. Any girl aged 5 and above can join us – the simple truth is that all girls can learn to sing and our classes cater for varying abilities and confidence levels. Parents value the ‘hidden’ elements of the curriculum including enhanced confidence and self esteem, development of presentation and public speaking skills and learning from positive role models. Let us inspire her to see the world as her stage!
start by singing
where will she begin? | what might she become? She will start by singing, dancing, playing and making friends in weekly classes, then like so many girls before her she might end up performing at high profile events in Australia and around the world.
There are six training levels of the choir and we adopt a vertical learning approach to education which means that there is a mixed age group at every level. Our curriculum includes singing, dance, drama, movement, music literacy, advanced part singing, presentation and performance skills. Our approach to training girls of all ages includes making extra opportunities available to those who excel. Outstanding Potential Awards are presented to a select number of choristers each year, and our AGC concerts feature soloists and small groups who rehearse their special speaking and singing parts in the Stellata class. Girls in the Prelude and Concert levels may be selected for a position in the specialist group Canto which rehearses for one hour each week in addition to regular classes.

dazzle audiences
performance groups Camerata and Performing Choir Girls who successfully complete at least one year of training in the Concert Level are eligible to audition for Camerata and the Performing Choir.
Our senior girls, aged between 12 and 18 years, are accomplished young performers. They dazzles audiences at Australia’s most prestigious events, on television and in recording sessions, and all around the world on national and international tours. Many of them started their journey with the choir aged between five and eight. The balance of experiences in the classroom and performance greatly enhances choristers’ self esteem, sense of achievement and pride; as well as having a positive influence on their psychological, physical and emotional health. Senior girls have the opportunity to take on roles of responsibility which allow them to gain confidence, poise and develop leadership skills. A feeling of belonging to a dynamic group of people with shared interests and goals often results in life long friendships. Values learnt from positive and responsible role models such as commitment, perseverance, and self discipline are of long lasting benefit.

our community Girls from Oz g-oz is our philanthropic arm which provides high quality performing arts activities for children who might otherwise be unable to access these sorts of opportunities due to economic, geographic or residential limitations. Currently members of g-oz are working with indigenous girls from the East Kimberley region in WA in an effort to help build their confidence and self esteem and provide them with connections that will enable them to travel and explore life outside of Halls Creek. www.girlsfromoz.org.au
National Breast Cancer Foundation The AGC is proud to be Youth Ambassadors for the NBCF, with our choristers using their voices to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for breast cancer. Each year our girls perform in over ten events for the NBCF and we are excited to have commissioned an anthem, The Day Will Come, for our charity partner. A highlight of our relationship is our participation in the Mother’s Day Classic walk, which this year saw over 600 of our choristers and families dress in pink and take part in this wonderful fundraising event!
Qantas We have been delighted to represent the Spirit of Australia in the hugely successful ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ advertising campaigns for Qantas since 1998. Over the years, thousands of our girls have been involved in the filming of these spectacular commercials, and in live performances and tours for Qantas all around the world.
Alumni Many alumni continue to have an association with the AGC and we are proud to employ more than ninety ex-choristers nationally as Managers, Supervisors, Tutors and Administrative Assistants. Benefits for family members of alumni who join AGC may apply. Please contact us for more information.
