Women’s and Men’s Tennis Coaching Staff
Shaun Wiseman Head Coach Shaun Wiseman begins his seventh season as Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach. Wiseman, a native of Rogers, Ark., was promoted to the Assistant Athletic Director position in 2014. Wiseman has proven to be among the top young tennis coaches in the region. Wiseman has brought both programs to new heights since his arrival, quickly establishing a strong athletic and academic tradition at Ozarks as he continues to emphasize the development of a well-rounded student-athlete. In just six seasons, Wiseman has built a men’s program that received its first-ever regional ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and a women’s program that won its most matches in nearly a decade. In 2014, the men’s program made history as it qualified for the playoffs, a first for the program. The team advanced all the way to the semi-finals of the post-season tournament before suffering a loss. Doubles partners Todd Turner and Bishop Bass received the program’s first-ever doubles regional ranking from the ITA. And for the second straight season, the team received a regional ranking from the ITA. Turner also won national honors as he was named to the prestigious Academic All-American Team. The 2013 year marked a record-breaking season for the men’s program as it posted a program-best 12-4 record. Turner earned Capital One Academic All-District honors and was named the American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for tennis. In 2013, the women’s team had the most wins in a decade and five players earned All-Conference honors. Wiseman’s success extends beyond the court. Both programs have earned the ITA Team Academic Award multiple seasons. During his tenure, he has had a combined 45 players earn American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team status. He has coached the conference Freshman of the Year, the conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete, five Academic All-District performers and 21 ITA ScholarAthletes. Additionally, 30 of his players have earned All-Conference recognition. Prior to Ozarks, Wiseman was the assistant women’s coach at NCAA Division II Arkansas Tech University from 2005-2007 where he helped with all aspects of the Golden Suns Tennis program. Wiseman has also helped with the development of the junior tennis program in the River Valley community. He serves as the athletic department’s compliance officer. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal
2
music. He earned his master’s degree from ATU in college student personnel and is currently pursuing his PhD in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University. He and his wife Tadera are the parents of one son.
Michael Skimbo Assistant Coach Michael Skimbo enters his first season as the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Coach after starring for the men’s program from 2010-2014. Skimbo, a native of Claremore, Okla., will work with all aspects of both programs, providing support to Head Coach Shaun Wiseman. Skimbo was named to the All-Conference Second Team in 2014 after posting an impressive 10-2 record at singles, including a 9-1 mark in conference play. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference at No. 3 doubles as a sophomore. He finished his career with the second-most singles wins (30) in program history. In doubles, he posted 29 wins, third-most in program history. He achieved membership on the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team three times and received ASC Player of the Week during his collegiate career. Prior to Ozarks, Skimbo was among the top high school tennis players in the Tulsa, Okla., region. He also competed in baseball and basketball at Claremore High School (Okla.). Skimbo is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree in management/administration.

Women’s Tennis 2015 Outlook
Veteran Players Lead Women’s Tennis Team After suffering a tough season a year ago, Shaun Wiseman’s women’s tennis program has the makings of a playoff contender thanks to a strong nucleus returning for the 2015 spring season. Wiseman believes his team will have a shot at qualifying for the playoffs with a couple of key victories. In all, the Lady Eagles return six lettermen from a squad that finished 2-12 overall and 2-7 in the American Southwest Conference last season. Things could have been different in 2014 if multiple 5-4 losses went Ozarks’ way. “We put up a fight last season, but we came up on the short end a lot,” said Wiseman. “History will not regard us as the most talented team that has played here, but they are hard-working and have a positive attitude. They do have a good shot at making the playoffs. They just need to take care of business. We have to be willing to do whatever it takes to win.” Mollie Grace Wilkinson Veterans Megan Wallace, Mollie Grace Wilkinson, Elly Eibes and LeAnan White will provide valuable experience for the Lady Eagles. Freshman Katelynn Woodard is a player that has raw talent, according to Wiseman. Wallace was All-Conference last season after posting a 7-4 singles mark. “We have a couple of girls that could play No. 1 singles,” he said. “We may change who plays No. 1 at different times of the season. Megan is excellent on the singles court.” Wiseman feels his team is primed for a better season with its strong work ethic.
Megan Wallace “The team’s attitude has been great,” he said. “They want to work hard on the court and in the classroom. They are a close group and I really enjoy coaching them.” Wiseman has stressed the importance of his girls playing their best when it matters the most, specifically in conference matches. “We have to play our best when it matters most,” he said. “There will be a couple of matches that ultimately determine if we qualify for the playoffs. They are preparing mentally and physically for those matches.” This season the ASC is split into an East and West Division, with the top three teams qualifying for the playoffs. Ozarks, Texas-Tyler, Louisiana College, LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist comprise the East Division. The Lady Eagles open the season February 14 against Hendrix College and John Brown University in Conway.

Men’s Tennis 2015 Outlook
Championship Caliber Men’s Tennis Team Opens 2015 Season With High Expectations
Corey Dillard and Greg Knaggs are ranked fourth and sixth in career singles wins at Ozarks. Sophomore Trevor Scott is back to play No. 5 singles, while freshman Spencer Turner is slated to play No. 6 singles. “Greg has a big serve and a big forehand,” said Wiseman. “He has won several matches in his career. We expect him to have a little better season than he had last year. He lost some close matches. Mentally, he has reached where his body says he should be playing. Corey is a scrappy player who wins tough matches and doesn’t lose to opponents he should beat. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, and that has been his secret to success. Spencer is a very talented athlete. Tennis comes easy to him. Spencer will need to mature quickly since he will have some very important matches fall on his shoulders. Trevor is a complete tennis player. He thinks out there. He is a great addition to our lineup and may be what puts us over the top.” Returning players Alix Tiegs, a junior, and Dillon Murray, a sophomore, will have important roles, too. Jacob Organ will contribute as a freshman, according to Wiseman. “I feel comfortable putting any of those guys in,” said Wiseman. “Alix and Dillon are there when we need them. Jacob is a talented doubles player and will play No. 3 doubles with Greg. He plays beyond his years on the court. He has terrific hands.” Wiseman credits his senior class for creating a winning culture within the program. “These seniors have created a culture of winning,” he said. “They expect to win. Losing is not part of their mentality. They are leaving us in a great position. We can now draw from the winning culture in the future. We want the future players in the program to reach and attain this level. In addition, these seniors fit the NCAA Division III model with their strong academic and athletic accomplishments. They will go on and do great things in life far beyond collegiate tennis.” This season, the ASC is split into an East and West Division, with the top three teams qualifying for the playoffs. Ozarks, Texas-Tyler, Louisiana College, LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist comprise the East Division. Ozarks finished 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the ASC last season. The Eagles will also travel to the West coast to face a number of strong NCAA III programs. Wiseman believes this will bolster his strength of schedule and provide a greater chance to earn an at-large bid to the national tournament.
The men’s tennis team is preparing for its most anticipated season in program history as the Eagles have all the makings of a championship team. The Eagles have built a tradition-rich program in just a few short years under head coach Shaun Wiseman, posting three straight double-digit win seasons. Ozarks advanced to the semi-finals of the ASC Tournament in 2014. For its accomplishments, Ozarks was voted to finish No. 2 among East Division teams in the American Southwest Conference preseason poll. Even without the lofty preseason ranking, momentum and anticipation has been building for the 2015 spring season. Six seniors, four of which have had All-Conference careers, help form what is the most talented team in program history. Fueling the expectations is the fact that the Eagles qualified for the playoffs last season and were ranked as high as No.15 in the ITA regional poll. Wiseman realizes his team has a lot of work to do, but he also understands his team is in position to fulfill those expectations. “The guys are ready for the expectations,” said Wiseman. “This is a veteran group and they know how to handle it. They feel they belong. We feel like we’ve earned where we are supposed to be. The seniors understand this is their final chapter. None of them are content with being the second best team in the division. They want to go to the national tournament. They want to experience that before they finish their collegiate careers. They realize there is a lot to do between now and then, and they go about their daily regiment with that in mind.” The Eagles boast Todd Turner and Bishop Bass at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. The duo also forms the winningest doubles combination in program history, totaling a combined 75 wins. “Todd is one of the most naturally gifted tennis players in this area,” said Wiseman. “He needs to stay healthy. I think he will have a terrific senior year. Bishop has probably turned into the second best doubles player in the conference. He is very well respected. He is the type of player capable of beating anyone on any given day. He plays with a fierce intensity.” The talent doesn’t end there though as seniors Men’s Program Highlights 2 ITA Regional Team Rankings | 27 All-Conference Performers | 12 ITA Scholar-Athletes | 3 ITA Team Academic Awards
