Preface
The final exam for my English 202 course was to
write an analysis paper about any American literary figure. I always have the same writing icons swirling in my head for tasks like this.
Just as I began leaping into verbal vomit mode I
remembered a name given to me by one of the volunteers at the English Department's Writing Workshop. We were offered extra credit if we took our assignments there to be peer reviewed and edited. I went to collect my paper from the girl at the desk and she made a joke about the professor of the course. She apparently took his class a while back.
During our almost forgettable small talk she
mentioned she was working on a research paper focused on obscure figures in literature. We were interrupted by an incoming student who needed her attention but not before she suggested I look into an unknown (forgotten) Victorian author, Seph Sessions.
…he would publish only 47 works before meeting a
mysterious death in the mid 1800s. Early in the 1800s Sessions name briefly ascended in the ether as rumors swirled that his work held secret clues. "…I am given all measure of assurance by source close to Doctor Sessions that certain pages do infect have the impregnations of his prophetic pen…"
As extravagant as Victorian diction is, they neglected
to ever nail down any details or facts of substance to go on.

It arrived this morning in. The rumbling diesel delivery truck signaled a potential modicum of progress in uncovering Seph Sessions secrets. I've been trading emails with an antique book dealer out of Staten Island. Now after 3 days of inbox checking and $56.23 of my hard earned money I am about to open a package containing three of Session's most infamous works.
