Beautiful Hair

Pure NV BKT sponsored Hair and Artistic Director Doreen Guarnari created the stunning hairstyles for the JSong and ... Way Spring 2013 Runway Show.

1. Choose which side the bangs look best on and clip hair aside.

2. Take a triangle on the top of the crown to create the back bump and back comb to create height.

Spray with ure NV BKT Humidity Shield Hairspray Non-Aerosol for hold. Soften the back comb with a flat grooming brush, twist and push into place.

Use a tail comb to lift and balance the back bump.

Secure the back bump with bobby pins.

3. Take the front sides, back comb if necessary, and comb the sides up. Take one side and drape over the middle section first and twist into form. Pull up the other side and repeat process. Pin into place.

4. Gather the remainder of the hair and put into a ponytail with a hair band. From underneath, use a small section of hair to wrap around the hair band to cover it.

5. Back comb and fan out the bottom of the ponytail to create a textured effect. Spray to hold.

6. Comb out and pull bangs down across the forehead. Drape and tuck ends of bangs behind ear. Pin if necessary. Spray hair with Pure NV BKT Spray Shine to finish.

Every year friends come together to sit down as family for the JSong Way Earth Friend Party. They take the time out of their busy lives to sit down and enjoy one another’s company. This is a night to relax, make new friends and to be reacquainted with familiar faces.

For the past 3 years, JSong invited their close friends over to their showroom so that everyone can enjoy a homemade organic vegetarian meal and spend quality time together. New friendships are made over sharing inspiring stories on how they spread serenity and happiness into the world.

At 6:00pm on November 29th, JSong opened their doors to guests as they were invited to take their picture and to write down inspiring words on what they wish for in the world. Shortly after dinner was served and guests went around introducing themselves. Business cards were exchanged, new friendships were made with plans to carry on the relationships even after the night ended. To conclude the night, the gathering enjoyed an opera performance by one of the guests with everyone singing the chorus.Together all attendees shared hopes of a better future while they took part in an evening filled with peace and joy. The JSong Way Earth Friend Party has become a tradition for many and an event that is highly anticipated every year, as it has become a night where everyone gathers together to enjoy the beauty in the earth and in each other.

Dear Marylou: I always thought embroidery meant needlework, sewn with yarn or thread. Today, I see all sorts of things called embroidery. Please explain.__G.C., Iron Mountain, MI. Dear G.C.: In today’s fashion world, embroidery means almost anything ornamental worked on fabric, as in sequins, crystals, studs, dimensional yarns, etc., etc., etc.

The newest, most modern take on embroidery comes from JSong’s gifted designer, Way Zen. Applying technology to fashion, Zen went to a QR Code generating website to achieve the barcode-like embroideries illustrated here. (QR Code is an abbreviation of Quick Response Code, a trademark for a type of matrix barcode—or two-dimensional code—first designed for the automotive industry.)

While printed QR Codes have appeared on T-shirts, the JSong versions are, to my knowledge, the first to be embroidered.

Technically, any hyperlink can become QR Code. With the modern technology that’s built in with Smartphones, any hyperlink can be scanned and the website will pop up immediately.

So if a girl goes into a bar wearing her QR-Coded cotton top, illustrated here, can guys scan the QR code on her clothes or bag to find out who she is—her name, address? According to Zen, this all depends on what the girl would like to disclose about herself in her website or on Facebook. Whatever is there will be disclosed.

Dear Marylou: You wrote recently about the importance of “big hair”. Are so-called baby bangs that are cut short and severely straight across the forehead a la Rooney MNara in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” still in fashion?__D.T. T., Newark, NJ. Dear D.T.T.: To get an expert’s view on the big bang theory, I took your question to W magazine’s legendary beauty director, Jane Larkworthy, who says, “Even though a few designers showed fake baby bangs for spring, I feel that ship has sailed. Everyone I know who got bangs (Natalie Morales excepted) is now growing theirs out.”

Dear Marylou: Are tight, show-every-curve-and-corpuscle clothes still in?__M.N., Baltimore, MD. Dear M.N.: In many quarters the squeeze is still squeezing. But I believe the newest direction for spring comes from a newly relaxed silhouette. Ease is replacing squeeze. This looked especially appealing on Marc Jacobs’ spring runway, where bold stripes skimmed the body in what you might call the new geometry.

Dear Marylou: What is the hottest look in fur?__P.A., Birmingham, MI. Dear P.A.: Paris designer Riccardo Tisci’s laser-cut mink for Givenchy was the talk of the Paris haute couture shows. Said mink was cut in Moorish patterns, overlaid with tulle and then embroidered with red heart crystals, some shielded in red leather. This look may not make the trend charts, as it is truly a work of art, but it may inspire others.
