This issue is dedicated to success. “Be free to do whatever you want. Have a fat bank account. Have the prettiest garden full of exotic blooms. Own every original style of JSong. Picture whatever you want! I won’t judge you.” We heard Managing Director Edward Kwang as he conducted his survey on the definition of success and his words made us smile. The survey revealed many different and dynamic visions of success. Among those interviewed were the Mayor of Savannah, Georgia, Edna Jackson; super yoga teacher, Rina Jakubowicz; and fashion editor/ educator, Ionia Dunn Lee Cisse. They shared with JSong their visions of success and how they actually achieved their success. A warm welcome to our JSong and . . . Way Fall 2015! These collections feature many individual stories from traditional strong suits and lacy dresses to pretty artisanal jackets, wonder jumpsuits and transformational butterfly pants. The popular wonder jumpsuit is also a dress. Another JSong surprise for Fall 2015: updated shirt dresses and wrap skirts. The new trend of Dress for Success is to dress for you . . . “be free to do whatever you like”. Define your own unique beauty instead of dressing solely to impress others. The definition of success at JSong is simple. We bring joy to everything we do so that we can inspire happiness in our clients, customers and friends. That joy allows us to create designs of beauty and quality to help elevate spirits and transform lives. Cheers!

Expert’s Way Specially designed jumpsuit takes care of personal business
Clotheslines By Marylou Luther
Dear Marylou: I find it hard to understand why so many designers are offering jumpsuits. And I’ve yet to see one with a drop seat. So how does one go to the bathroom without undressing? – A.C., Cleveland Dear A.C: Buy the jumpsuit illustrated here. It’s the only one I’ve seen that’s toilet trained. This truly transformational design is by one of fashion’s true originators, Way Zen of JSong. Here’s how it works. Because of the loose-cut bottom of the jumpsuit, it can be worn many ways, including as a dress. For the dress look, you put your feet in one leg, and the other leg flows like a scarf. Or you can tie the flowing leg at the side to add a 3-D dimension. Or you can wrap it around your body. All looks are illustrated here. As Way Zen points out, “Going to the bathroom is not a problem because of the wide leg opening. Priced at $199, the jumpsuit is made of cotton gauze and available in beige/cocoa or black/white. For store information, visit the website at jsongway.com or email jsongjsi@aol. com. Dear Marylou: I’ve gained about 20 pounds in the last few months, and none of my evening dresses fit. (I’m OK with daytime clothes, thanks to tunics, pants with drawstring or elasticized waistbands, shifts and trapeze dresses). I was thinking of buying a caftan but am not sure if such a style is in fashion now. Is it? – E.D.D., Newark, New Jersey Dear E.D.D.: Caftans, abayas, djellabas and galabeyas are all part of spring fashion’s loosen-up attitude. They’re also part of the revitalization of ethnic designs, especially the hippie clothes of the late 1960s and ’70s. And they’re the perfect solution for your weight gain. Dear Marylou: Please explain why so many designers are using zippers as ornamental decorations. I was thinking of cutting some up and applying them as graphic motifs on my old black sheath dress. What do you think? –R.M., Kansas City, Missouri Dear R.M.: I love you idea. The zipper as decoration was first proposed by Paris designer Elsa Schiaparelli in the 1930s. In recent years, dresses have been closed in back with exposed zippers (thanks Alber Elbaz of Lanvin for that one). But back in the day (1890), the zipper was invented by Whitcomb Judson as a replacement for shoe buttons and shoelaces, and it was called the slide fastener. The name zipper resulted from the Zipper brand that specialized in slide fasteners/zippers for galoshes. And the name stuck (though the zippers didn’t). I believe the application of zippers as fashion décor is all part of the current wave of designer-created embellishment. Dear Marylou: My dry cleaner told me he cannot remove the soil marks caused by my floor-length evening skirt’s sweep-ups. Would it look strange if I put a band of brown taffeta on the hem of my peach taffeta skirt? – N.B., Denver Dear N.B.: Go ahead. But if you’d like to avoid another irreparable soiling, how about banding your skirt in vinyl/plastic/ Perspex? Easiest of all would be to cut off the dirt marks and wear your skirt as is with unfinished hem. This form of fashion deconstruction is very much a part of today’s unfinishing touches. Have a fashion question? Send it to: Clotheslines, Fashion Department, The Plain Dealer, 1990 W. Second St., Suite 200, Cleveland, OH 44113. After four years as Mayor, she still wants to accomplish more and is seeking re-election. During a second term, her goal will be to create more jobs and reduce poverty. “It is not about Edna Jackson. Rina Jakubowicz knows! Rina is founder of Rina Yoga, author of Choose Peace, cover girl for Yoga Journal, and featured teacher on Gaiam TV’s My Yoga Online. Way Magazine Editor, Designer Way Zen, asked Rina to reveal some of the secrets of her success. WZ: Expanding your U.S. training classes to other countries such as Mexico takes lots of energy. Do you have any free time for yourself? RJ: I love my work - it is enjoyment for me; but I take little moments to sit outside and observe. It puts things into perspective – reminds me of what’s really important. WZ: How did you choose yoga? RJ: Yoga chose me; I didn’t choose yoga. When I learned the philosophical principles, I knew this was the truth. Since it helped me so much, I wanted to help others who sought truth. WZ: Can you describe your yoga style? RJ: My style is much like me: passionate, simple, profound and truthful. The physical style I teach is Vinyasa but my main focus is on the philosophy and lifestyle – all with a fun-loving twist. WZ: What is the role of a yoga teacher in the community? RJ: A yoga teacher should lead by example. As teachers, we give our students tools and steps to achieve a better more enriching life. But the students have to do the work themselves. Teachers provide the positive and encouraging space for questioning, discovering and studying individually and together.
How to Become a Star Yoga Teacher Without Really Trying
Rina in JSong jumpsuit photo by Stanislav Zayets
WZ: Your book title, Choose Peace, is every one’s wish. However, it is difficult to maintain peace throughout our everyday lives. For example, someone jumps the line in front of you or a baby cries in the middle of the night, how can you remain peaceful? RJ: Remember: you can only control yourself. What pulls us out of peace is an unfulfilled desire or unrealistic expectation usually based on an incorrect assessment. Here is a good example: a weekend course in Kripalu Center in Massachusetts was canceled due to low registration. I could have been disappointed, but I didn’t let my emotions or expectations get in the way. Perhaps this was not the time or the way that I was supposed to serve. So I let go of the potential disappointment and stayed peaceful. Fifteen minutes later, I received another email stating that my weekend course was not canceled and that the CEO of Kripalu wanted to discuss future possibilities. How quickly things can shift! If we choose to ride the roller coaster of external stimuli then we will suffer; but if we just watch it rise and fall we can remain more balanced and more peaceful. WZ: Please explain the concept of Satsang, which you mentioned in your book. RJ: Satsang means community. In order to evolve and grow spiritually, we need a community of people who are also seeking something higher in order to hold ourselves accountable and feel the power of positive support. Unfortunately, we know what it’s like to have negative support; so it takes a strong force of positivity to help make that shift. WZ: What makes you most happy? RJ: Seeing someone ready to stand on their own two feet because they feel inspired and empowered. WZ: What is your vision of Rina Yoga? RJ: My vision is for people to come into their own truth by helping them do it on their own through empowerment, inspiration, knowledge and love.

STYLE FYI
Never underestimate the advantages of dressing well by Rashida Megget
How you present yourself must be extremely effective because it never goes unnoticed. Image has a major impact at every level so it is imperative to showcase your own personal style along with what is trending in our oh so fashionable world. The JSong Collection offers separates that make dressing for success both chic and effortless. In this contemporary look, we compiled some of the key trends from the AW 15 season. These forest green cropped flares are all the rage this season. They are longer than a culotte and shorter than your standard trouser. This fresh new cut is one of Fall’s latest daring trends. When paired with the staple white shirt layered with a delicate lace knit, the silhouette spells elegance and class.
The final Victorian inspired Mod look showcases major elements popular this fall season. The lace shift dress is belted for a more modern fell. When layered over the lace blouse and topped with this intricately, tailored tapestry coat, it is everything but basic. The sleek lines and simple silhouettes are sure to make any woman feel courageous. The JSong Collection showcases timeless yet trendy styles and silhouettes for every woman. The various designs in the collection are great for layering and creating looks that feel powerful, sleek and, of course, fashionable. As shown in these photos, dressing well should emanate elegance, confidence and courage - the elements that are crucial when striving for success!
In this next eclectic look, we layered this wool blazer over a Bohemian-inspired flared jumpsuit. Here we incorporate clashing prints and fabrics. The Bohemian inspired printed flared jumpsuit and the tailored wool blazer! This ensemble exudes style and confidence.
