Editor’s Letter “. . . many facets of fashion will create the unlimited power of fashion in the future.” I am writing to you from our new JSong New York City. We moved here after ending 17 years in our showroom at 499 Seventh Avenue. Looking back, many fashion legends graced our Seventh Avenue Showroom including Ruth Finley of Fashion Calendar, Marylou Luther of International Fashion Syndicate and Bill Cunningham of the New York Times. We supported more than 200 craftswomen and embroiderers from our partner factory in China. We enjoyed hundreds of letters from customers including actresses, ambassadors and dedicated fans. We even published some of the letters in our Way Mail column. We also built a strong JSong team that is always enthusiastic and committed

ensure that our customers’ orders were shipped on time. Nothing can stop them from getting the job done – not even locating JSong pieces in the dark. A few minutes ago, Kari Young, our Arts and Crafts Editor, showed me her new idea of wrapping wooden beads with hand woven colored threads. Her many threads reminded me of the many facets of fashion that will create the unlimited power of fashion in the future. With gratitude for all of your support, my team and I will use our experience to grow and contribute in our JSong way to make the world a better place. In the past, we designed our collections in New York City and sold them wholesale in New York City. We didn’t worry about production because the partner factory in China handled that process. Now, the world has changed and the Chinese economic boom has given the factory workers many other choices of employment. Our partner factory has found it hard to maintain staff and so the challenge of JSong production has come to New York. There is a Chinese saying: Every danger conceives a big opportunity. We are now building a sustainable JSong business structure. Our fresh business model will include a storefront for testing ideas and sharing our inspirations with customers. We will design, manufacture and distribute our collection right here in New York City. Our new operation model brings a new visual merchandise talent: Cerome McNaughton, who joined us in December. Of course, there will be more like-minded joyful people coming to JSong in the future. Now, let us welcome you to our exciting fresh JSong world of fashion with our exquisite JSong and . . . Way Spring/Summer 2014 collections. There is a lot more to come in the future. Best wishes for a sustainable prosperous New Year!

The other day when my daughter and I were shopping, a beautiful lace dress in the display window caught my eye. When we went in to check it out, guess what? We found you and Edward hosting a JSong pop-up store. You had moved and we still found you. What a coincidence! Thank you, Way, and keep giving us your timeless fashions and your unique designs. Love, Rode Valme Brooklyn, NY ************************************************************************ Dear Way: Since I discovered your line in Atlanta Apparel Mart 10 years ago, I have upgraded my store. Most of the well-known women in Savannah are aware that I offer some of the best apparel, hats and accessories from head to toe. Even though I carry some more expensive lines, JSong has the most unique fashions and the best quality. Also I can always rely on your good customer service.

The Simple Chic Bungee Braid by Doreen Guarneri

JSong showed their Spring/Summer 2014 collection, a line of easy going styles embellished with lace embroidery, pleats and light linen textures in pretty pastel hues, during New York Fashion Week. Doreen Guarneri, for pure NV BKT, to complement the collection. The bungee braid, which contains an element to represent the pleat, is a side low ponytail that is tousled on the ends. This effortless hairstyle is easy to create. STEP 1: Wave the hair with a wand halfway down the shaft using 2-inch sections. No need for too much curl. Use pure NV BKT Humidity Defense Styling Spray (aerosol) to set the texture as you wand. STEP 2: Brush through, creating a wave pattern. STEP 3: Grab the hair low and slightly to the left back shoulder. Complete a three section braid with one section that is thinner than the other two sections. Braid halfway down. STEP 4: Hold the thinnest section and “bungee push upwards the other two sections, creating a bungee braid. Secure with a hair tie. Leave ends frayed and tossed in appearance by not pulling the hair completely through the tie. STEP 5: Leave two loose pieces around the frame of the face to create softness around the eyes. Groom with a humidity defense spray and pomade. Complete the look with luster by lightly spraying pure NV BKT KerArgan Shine Spray on to hair. Contact info: abenza@americanculturehair.com

Suits your Way

Suits as separates. Pleats show in front. Pleats show in back.

by Rashida Meggett

The suit is a staple of any wardrobe and certainly a quintessential piece in every women’s closet. Investing in a great tailored suit is necessary to all women from Wall Street power moguls to Fashion Avenue fashionistas to Uptown college students. Suits are versatile and can be worn for many occasions. It is important to have a suit that can be worn professionally, in a business casual setting or even as evening wear. A key feature of JSong suits is that most pieces can be worn separately. Adding a seasonal color is an easy way to add a little feminine appeal to your suit. JSong showcases color in the ice blue two piece pleated linen skirt suit. The top of the suit looks handsome whether the pleats are worn in the front or the back. The top can be worn over the skirt to showcase the beautiful crisscross opening line. The top can be belted, or tucked into the skirt to show off the high waisted skirt and a more with a nude or beige pump for the strappy sandal for the evening. To complete a perfect for a day to night look. Add earrings and a statement necklace and you are all set! This next suit is something that our modern day suit lover must have. Because emphasizing your waist

and creating feminine curves is so essential, you must have a suit such as this one with a slightly cropped top the knee. The burnt orange suit is a must for the modern day suit skirt emphasize the waist and create feminine curves. The textured fabric also adds richness to the suit. If the top is untucked, it is the classic two piece suit. If tucked in, it has a one piece mermaid style look. For the fall season, wear it over a turtleneck or paired with long gloves, a hat and booties. For an edgier look, use an animal print shoe, belt or handbag and add a chunky necklace.
