Welcome... Beef is back in business! With an impressive fall calf run and steady sales through this winter it feels like the cow/calf sector will have some profitable times ahead. We have built and bred this set of bulls to compliment this industry and provide value and usefulness to commercial cattlemen in Eastern Canada and abroad. It has been rewarding to follow our genetics and congratulate our customers on the successes they have had with IRCC/Elmlodge bulls. From the Champion titles that bring glory to high selling stockers that pay the bills, our bulls consistently perform. You will note the Simmental bulls will have new indexes attached to their Epds that are simpler numbers to use as a selection tool as the encompass all profitable traits for the categories they represent. The All Purpose Index - API - is a most useful tool that has been developed south of the border to select the bulls that will work across the cowherd to increase profit. I have been an advocate of this simpler EPD and am pleased that are bulls almost all rank in the top 20% of the breed for that index. This, while just a tool, reinforces are belief in balanced breeding and gives us the confidence to promote the added value of our breeding program. The Simmental bulls on offer along with their spanky new indexes will have some DNA profiles done on a few for colour coat and the homo polled trait. There are a couple special baldy bulls on offer, lots of heifer pen friendly prospects and some scale busters as well. New this year are the true F1 Simm/Angus bulls that are popular with commercial cattlemen everywhere. The extra age Simm/Angus is a beast and needs to be seen to be appreciated. The Hereford yearling bulls are highlighted with a breeder type Catapult son that was a National Division winner already. We’ve added a couple heavy breds to the Hereford mix this year as well as a couple junior yearling show prospects that would be suitable for junior shows like Bonanza. Not to be forgotten are the Simmental show heifer prospects that are elite and even come with a splash of chrome. We are fortunate to have Jim and Joe Young as new Limousin consignors with a trio of impressive young bulls and long time sale partner Black River brings another standout black simm bull from their elite program. We strive to breed the best, try to prove it in competition and witness it through customer successes selling calves at auction for top dollar. Our kind of bull here in a moderate, big barrelled, heavy muscled good looking package. We can’t say enough about the good Broker has done for our herd and the Simmental breed. Purebred or commercially I highly recommend infusing his genetic strength into your program. If you’re looking for an elite red baldy bull to turn white cattle golden or make any colour just better, here he is.
Solid red, smooth made, sound structured one here out of a wonderful beef cow and the Agribition winner, Zephyr. He has the shape and lines to create impressive females while his muscular build should help his sons perform and sell well. The whole family fell in love with this one picture day as we watched her glide around the pen. She’s a holes free type female with the added style and look not readily available in Canadian Simmental cattle. Raised by a first calf heifer with solid family history, she has the API index at the top to build from. Study this one from the ground up and appreciate her angles, genuine shape and quality to make her a big league junior or open show project. Katie in particular pegged this one and says she’ll have her ready for the Junior show in London where she’ll be entered.
Late February with a spot and milk mustache to make her unique and attractive. She’s a sister to a past sale topper and favorite, Chiquita who sold to the Davis family. She like Chiquita who was ultra competitive as both a yearling and last year as a two year old, has the extra look, quality and dimension to impress. Udder quality is top drawer here and if she can look like her sister did as a champion pair last year, you will have a donor candidate after her show career.
