Pretty much everything about 2020 so far has, for lack of a better word, ‘sucked’ - That is except for the cow business and the agricultural industry. Not only have we seen a great demand for our products, we’ve also seen a new found appreciation for the work we do to feed the people of this country. Cattle markets for cull cows and bulls have soared while the feeder calves are chasing the record prices of 2014/2015. It’s a good time for agriculture and a great time to be in Simmentals. At IRCC we’ve not waivered from our goal as a purebred seedstock producer to breed for ‘Quality’ first and foremost. That never ending quest fuels the passion that gives us purpose everyday to grind through adversities like this pandemic or like the relentless hot, dry stretch of summer that we thought would never end. Unlike many, whose lives were put on hold, we were the lucky ones. We still had chores to do and dreams to dream. The extra family members around and extra time spent in the barn has helped make the sale heifer calves friendlier than usual this year so they’ll be ready for the ring as soon as the ring is ready for them. The calendar year babies available on October 4 are flat out lethal and are as deep and banner thirsty as any we’ve ever offered. We can’t thank the buyers, bidders, consignors and crew enough for the support we had last year as Quality Control III shattered records all day long, making it one of the most exciting and strongest sales of any breed anywhere. For that we are very grateful as it allows us to continue to do what we love to do. You can bet we’ve kept the bar set high again this year, as with the help of some of the Simmental breed’s most progressive breeders as consignors, we’ve put together another elite offering that might be a notch more consistent than last year. Hopefully, your schedule has more flexibility to allow you to be with us for the fun and fellowship October 4, and while we will follow recommended health protocol as best we can, we also realize under the circumstances some people may prefer private viewings of the sale cattle which we can happily and readily accommodate. We are excited to have the Bohrson team here sale day so feel free to contact them, our consignors or any of us here at IRCC to assist with your plans to participate in Quality Control IV.

The Quality Control Sale has elevated into one of the most elite purebred Simmental Sales in North America and this years edition is stacked from end to end. This is an event that you need to plan on attending as the cattle are the kind that can propel the most progressive of programs forward. Structural soundness, production value and overall cattle that will enhance your bottom line are found in this offering and can be invested in with confidence. Billy & Juanita Elmhirst are some of the most highly respected stockman in the industry and they’re passion to breed the most elite Simmental genetics has certainly been noticed through the show ring and most importantly, this sale, as cattle have sold continent wide. You are only as good as the people you surround yourself with and the IRCC crew has selected the very best programs to join the Quality Control Sale to ensure the very best is on offer. There are lots of good sales throughout the country but to find a sale to source new cattle from that carry exciting genetics and from integrity driven breeders, you can’t beat the Quality Control line-up. If you are in the market for the good looking kind that simply produce and carry the value of shear production that the Simmental breed excels on, plan to be with us on Sunday, October 4. We have been through this offering and definitely impressed overall with this awesome offering and encourage you to join us. If you can’t attend, feel free to give the IRCC crew, consignors or any of the sales staff a call to represent your needs in a professional manner. See you in Indian River for one of the exciting sale events, that are hosted every October, as it is the place to find QUALITY! Best regards, Scott

Reason #1 is that she never has a bad day, always looks sharp and attractive plus has that blaze (Katie). Reason #2 is she is a pet, loves attention and treats (Keira). Reason #3 is that he loves her dam because they won their share last year, as his last 4H project (Owen). Reason #4 picture pen friendly. Stop! Pop! Boom! (Juanita). And lastly reason #5, kinda same as 3. Dang I love Fox Trot (me). BALLERINA - GRANDAM OF LOT 1 AND 3

DAM OF LOT 1 AND 3

Trust me, I did a little happy dance when I found this one in the calving pen this spring. You can imagine after calving out the Lot 1 Fox Trot cow earlier in the year I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her 2020 sibling and when this one landed there was no doubt we had ourselves something extra special. And then as usual when we fall in love with one, the great debate about selling her begins and since her 2 year old sister was deemed a keeper; Hula Dancer was the heifer we felt had the quality and star power to follow the likes of Bombshell, Darlin, Cherry Bomb and Fantasia to be the lead female in Quality Control. We’ve not manufactured one with as much sheer power and dimension as this one. Along with that monster belly, this bald faced show stopper still remains lean necked and extended while keeping her balance in check. The productive ability and udder quality of this cow family is front and center in these first few exciting lots and Hula Dancer’s potential for glory in the showring and profit in the pasture is off the charts. We had better keep the right to one flush on this heifer in the future, because this kind don’t come along very often. Will be entered in Fall Finale.

Welcome to ‘World War’ 4 or 5, I’ve lost track. There is only 1 family member that thinks this one needs to be in the sale and that’s only because that same person checked the account balance. Just study that picture and imagine how lightly that show halter chain would dangle, while this heifer naturally and effortlessly cocks off for the judges. They just don’t make ‘em like this everyday, with the angles and slopes to float around the ring comfortably, especially in a Simm. Just ideal in her condition right now, she projects all sorts of natural shape and body, while her structure seems bullet proof. Her dam is a never miss cow and has sent past sale favorites to little Miss Kinsley at Dunraven in Quebec and to the Dennis family to accompany their new pup last year. We think this is the real deal and will have her entered in the Fall Finale as well.

Sometimes I guess you just get lucky and whoever ends up with this exquisite little lady will be as well. Structure trumps everything at IRCC because experience has taught us that problem free cows with longevity pay the bills. Plus structure means balance, structure means ‘Look’, structure means soundness and all of those things combine to make show heifers that are a whole lotta fun to hang on to. Harmony is as sweet natured as any in the barn and oozes class and quality. The Debutante female has carved a legacy early in life as a dominant show female. She was Reserve Overall Female at the NY State Fair at 5 months old, Youth Forum Supreme Champion, KILE Junior Show Grand Champion in Harrisburg, Supreme Champion at Peterborough and Beachburg, a class winner at the US Junior National in Louisville and at the Sweepstakes, Reserve Female at the 2019 National Classic and made the prestigious ‘Top 5’ in the Royal Supreme last fall. Even more impressive than those accolades are the 3 absolutely massive stud bulls she has raised. As a 2 year old, her bull calf, Full Force, weighed over 1400 lbs at 10 months and last year she produced the $22000 feature service sire, King George. Not a whole lot of guess work left here in the exclusive genetic opportunity to get in on the ground floor of the foundation donor female in the sprouting IRCC Angus program. The Fantasia female has been dominant in the ring. Royal Jr Calf Champion, Beef Expo Reserve Supreme, Youth Forum Reserve Supreme, Barrie Fair Supreme, Royal Jr Champion, Top 5 Royal Supreme and to top it all off, she was Supreme Champion in the 375 head National Junior Heifer Show. And just wait till you see what she gave us in her first attempt at motherhood, her heifer calf is truly special. As much bragging on the female as you’ve read thus far, pales in comparison to the accomplishments of the sire of the embryos. South Point owned the ring on both sides of the border last year and access to his semen is limited. Phenomenal opportunity here to go for greatness with these genetic opportunities. 24 A - Guarantee 6 viable embryos, no cap, purchaser covers all flush expenses. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good! We were flattered when the Bohrson and Green Valley crews purchased a flush on Delicious. This heifer is the result of a grade 3 from that flush. That is where the luck ends, the rest is by plan. I would imagine this is exactly what they had in mind when they picked this mating. Wide based, big ribbed, flawless in motion, and still very elegant in her design. Females like 2H are exactly the reason her donor dam is so prevalent in our herd.

She is royally bred from the Champion Male and Champion Female at the 2017 Canadian Western Agribition. BGS/BM Captain Scream and CMS Soda Pop 425B were the talk of this Simmental barn that year, and the mating of these 2 Champions together was destined for success. PM Soda Pop 918G did not disappoint, she’s the total package. Extra powerful, high capacity and structurally sound, this heifer is everything we’re trying to accomplish in the Simmental breed. When deciding on what bull to mate her with, we looked at other successful matings to the Soda Pop females and it became a no brainer to use the breeding legend SpringCreek Liner 56U. This genetic combination was a home run for Windy Hill Livestock in their 2019 Bull and Female sale, where the 56U x Soda Pop females averaged $20,250 with the high seller WHL Cream Soda 1833 going to KT Ranches for $34,250. Other notable Soda Pop females to sell in the past few years have been, SVS Soda Pop 788E ($76,000) and Black Gold Ms. Soda Pop 90G ($55,000). Here is a really nice smooth made female. She is a Dallas daughter and his 2yr old daughters we have are exceptional with tons of milk flow, beautiful udders and are raising our heaviest calves in the 2 year old group. Her dam is a beautiful black cow that has a great heifer at side again, allowing us to part with this really good female AI bred to R-Plus Swayze April 16 and exposed to Kids Gambler 3G from April 25 to July 25.
