Heifer Lottery 2015

Welcome

Elmlodge Polled Herefords

There’s a brand new attitude in the cow business these days and it’s about time. The markets continue to soar, the margins are bigger, the risks are few and the rewards of raising beef can be celebrated daily. We invite you to Indian River in September to be part of the most exciting purebred cattle weekend in Ontario. The cattle consigned to Source for Success XIV are the herd building, profit making, banner chasing kind. The heifer calves on offer are wicked and from the top of crop. Collectively the consignors to this sale are a competitive lot and the calves from Source for Success often end up in the winners circle later in the fall. At the recent MOE show, sale prospects ran 1 through 5 in a very large, tough class. The bred females all carry value added services, mostly AI, so the hard work has been done for you. The bull calves on offer are elite, with great dams and are positioned to accelerate a breeding program. Plan to be with us to capitalize on the glorious genetic opportunities available and enjoy some Hereford hospitality in beautiful central Ontario. If we can assist you in any way to make your participation in Source for Success XIV easier, feel free to contact us. On Line Viewing & Bidding Available We invite those of you who are unable to attend to be part of the auction. We would never want to give someone an excuse not to attend this event. but if the situation arises, we have you covered. With the help of LiveAuctions.tv, we are now able to give you a live connection to the auction. Real time bidding will be available via internet for this sale. Checkmate ties together the economically important traits of calving ease, muscle, soundness, body mass, great EPD’s and dimension with the bonuses of pigment, freckles, short markings, look and a kitten like disposition. Genetically the maternal strength available here through the close up dams in this pedigree is potent. This is the bull destined to shape the future at Elm-Lodge and the Hereford breed, so make your next move a winning one with Checkmate.

Consider this your opportunity to be at the forefront with the most current Hereford genetics. Now consider that this heifer was raised by a 10 year old cow, and is a twin. She and her sister are matched pound for pound, but this beauty won her place in the sale based on cosmetics alone. Huge performance, deep bodied and soft made. EPDs BW 2.6 WW 54 YW 92 MM 24.3 TM 51 American bred, Canadian born, she’s got “the numbers” and “the look”. We just love this Trust calf. Her mother is a hard working female with an extremely well balanced udder and her dad needs no introduction. She’s smooth, stout and has numbers that are hard to beat. She has been shown this year and is consistantly a favourite in and out of the ring. Entered in the ECOHZ and Royal futurity shows.

Bar-H Rita has given us a set of solid females who’s udder quality, depth of body, dark pigment and mothering instincts are consistant. We have no doubts that this heifer will carry on those natural traits. Count on this female as a herd builder. She is broke, quiet and ready to go.
