King and Queen of the Forums Election Ends In Two way Tie! PRAYER REQUESTS By Jubilee Chiu

This Year’s vote for King and Queen of the forums ended with a cliffhanger. Therese

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:1618 (NLT)

Kornelson Won Queen of the forums with 8 votes, beating out competitor Genevieve

For Comfort and Peace: - Michaela Froese: pray for her grandpa who went through open-heart th surgery on May 24 . Doctors are thinking he's not going to make it. He is so incredibly weak and sick - can't even hardly speak, even though he's coherent, that's how much pain he is in. - Nicco Pucci: Pray for his family (immediate and extended) to have God's peace, and be able to stop grieving and becoming bitter towards God because of their beloved Uncle's sudden death. For Health & Recovery: - Matthew Van Urk's friend: cut through one of his tendons while working on art project. - Jennifer Cook's friend: ripped tendons apart in his foot while playing baseball. Also, pray that everyone st bussing for late nighter on May 31 will stay safe. - Melody Brocke's mother's friend: horse has foundered; may have to be put down. - Isaiah Freidooni: family members are all sick. Pray for family's speedy recovery, and for Isaiah to stay healthy. For Spiritual Battles: - Lisa Ellis: pray for a young person that has gotten into some very dark "spiritual" things and also been very deceptive about it. What is needed is God's grace in that person's life. Please keep praying for salvation for that person, for deliverance, and that this person will find no rest until he or she is in Jesus' arms. Pray for them to find the peace that ONLY comes from true repentance. It is extremely serious and needs as much prayer as possible. Please keep these requests in your prayers!

COOL FACTS OF THE WEEK to feed that craving for weirdness

They're just there, giving you the illusion of power.” “The plastic ends on shoelaces are called 'aglets'.” “That sudden blast of air you feel when walking into a store is to prevent insects from flying in.” “In the course of an average lifetime you will, while sleeping, eat 70 assorted insects and 10 spiders.” “Starfish aren't fish. Neither are jellyfish.” “Whenever you're waiting for your YouTube video to buffer, you can play a game of 'Snake' by hitting the up or down arrow key.”

Also by Jubilee Chiu On the HCS Learning Commons Ning, there's been some discussion recently on whether we're paying enough attention to the lyrics and meaning of the songs we listen to. Some argue that most of us are under-thinking it, and not paying enough attention to the catchy songs we sing along to. Others argue that we're over-thinking it and making song lyrics sound more disturbing than it was originally intended to be. If you really think about it, “you are what you listen to” is quite an unsettling quote. What you listen to is what your mind meditates on. God wants us to meditate on his words day and night (Joshua 1:8), not lyrics of the Hot 100 Billboard songs. When was the last time you really listened to the lyrics of your favorite songs? Is that what you really want to be constantly feeding your brain with? People should really give the music they listen to a little more thought. We do, however, have to be cautious not to over-think it and try to shove our opinions down other people's throats. “I want to encourage you to think about what you are putting into your brain. Whether it be daily, weekly or monthly that you listen to their music, or any secular music, it's important to know that what you do put in to your head will affect you, your thoughts and your actions. It's imperative that you make decisions to how much you are going to put into your life.” - Kristina Fedorov When we don't pay attention to the lyrics of the songs we listen to, we end up singing along to inappropriate things without even realizing it. What's worse is, after hearing swear words and inappropriate content so often in popular songs, it's no longer a big deal to us, and we don't care anymore. Satan uses this as an advantage against us because we take music so lightly. So many young children are desensitized nowadays, it's simply appalling. In conclusion, I want to say, please please PLEASE pay more attention to what you listen to. It's not “just a song”, it's what your mind meditates on. Choose your music wisely.

“Every time you feel embarrassed, the inside of your stomach turns red.” “Apples are more efficient at waking you up in the morning than coffee.” “Bananas are acid based and can burn those with sensitive skin.” “Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.” “The cigarette lighter was invented before the match.” “A duck's quack doesn't echo anywhere, and no one knows why.” “It is impossible to rub your stomach in a counter-clockwise motion while patting your head at the same time.” “You just tried doing that last fact because you're just that gullible >:3.”
