CHANGE A LIFE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON Imagine, for a moment, a young child who is deathly afraid of being in her own home. Little Leilana was this child. At only five, she arrived at our emergency shelter with her mother, wearing nothing but an adult extra-large t-shirt. Her mother had suffered constant physical abuse for years and Leilana had lived her entire life in fear, never having had the chance to be a carefree child. When she first arrived at the shelter, she hid behind her mother’s legs and was too frightened to speak. However, within days, her transition was remarkable. Leilana and her mom finally had a safe and secure place to live. Leilana referred to their room as her “home,” where
she built forts, laughed and played like a carefree child would. Leilana’s personality blossomed and with the sense of security the shelter offered, she learned to trust others. Because of donors like you, Leilana was shown what a real childhood should be like and finally had an opportunity to flourish and thrive. Your donation can help save lives by giving children like Leilana the safety, shelter and support they desperately need. Your gift of $100 ensures that no child will endure the trauma that Leilana did. Together, we can work toward assuring every child experiences a happy and carefree childhood. A child’s future is in your hands.
