Vintage Weddings Gain Popularity, Trend Evolves Clever Vintage Clothing sees a surge in vintage-styled weddings with new methods of incorporation. LOS ANGELES — May 22, 2011 — This 2011 wedding season brings even more clients to Clever Vintage’s downtown Los Angeles showroom than last year giving the vintage concept an even larger surge in popularity. Meanwhile, the trend of vintage style weddings has evolved with garments reflecting personal symbolism and the theme extending beyond the attire. “This year’s wedding season has been very exciting, because the movement of having a vintage-inspired marriage ceremony has not only grown but also evolved into something even more sentimental,” said Dave C. Temple, Owner of Clever Vintage Clothing. According to Temple, last year’s 'vintage weddings' he styled were almost exclusively inspired by a fashion trend and the inclusion of vintage garments was mostly indiscriminate. In contrast, Clever Vintage Clothing’s clients in 2011 have taken a distinctively different approach. Couples this year often come with a desire to include vintage elements that reflect specific individual sentiment. For example, one bride came to Temple with only a newspaper article describing her grandmother’s wedding dress from the 1940s; all photographs of it and the dress itself had been destroyed in a fire. He was able to source a dress that was a perfect fit! Temple has seen clients executing the vintage style to a larger extent this year as well. A recent client carried an art deco theme from the clothing to even the location by having her wedding take place on a cruise ship. This type of thorough implementation of vintage happens more commonly in 2011 than ever before. "A huge impact can be made by extending the theme from the clothing to the décor and setting, and doing so usually results in tremendous cost savings for the couple," Temple pointed out.
