A Big Thank You... We would just love to thank all of the wonderful photographers and wedding suppliers for all of the amazing images that you are about to see.

!

Also a special thanks to the beautiful bridal couples who have allowed us to share their amazing wedding days.

Be true to yourself ! !

Your wedding is one of the biggest events you’ll ever plan! ! The pressure to keep up with family members, friends and the endless supply of stunning images online will test your resolve. My advice is simple, be true to yourself…! Plan your wedding around what makes you as a couple happy, there is no point planning a stunning black tie event if you are more comfortable with no shoes and sand between your toes.! You will have far more fun at your wedding if you are not stressed, I know it sounds simple but trust me you need to stand firm on some of your early planning decisions. ! Everyone will have an opinion and it will be hard.! Take some time as a couple to really think! about what would make you happy.!

So you want to put a ring on it?

Simple Three Step Plan To Get You Married !

Sunshine Coast Wedding Celebrant Kathryn Tilly tells us what needs to do after setting a date to begin the legal process for getting married in Queensland.

!

Step One -

Find an awesomeCelebrant that reflects your own personality and style.

Step Two -

Fill in your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)

!

Generally the NOIM will be signed by both parties being married, and witnessed by the celebrant or an authorised witness. Legally, the NOIM has to be lodged with the wedding celebrant no longer than 18 months and at least one calendar month before the date of the ceremony. (If one party cannot conveniently sign the NOIM, The Marriage Act

does allow for only one party to sign at the appropriate time, provided the other party can sign in the presence of your celebrant before the marriage takes place.)

!

Your Celebrant will require to see your original ID documentation: •

Proof of date and place of Birth: The best evidence of this is your Passport. No Passport? ….Then your celebrant will need to see legal photo ID, plus your official Birth Certificate, or an official extract of an entry in an official register, showing the date and place of birth of each party – if you have neither of these or can’t find them then you will need to apply for your original birth certificate from the BDM in the state you were born.

Proof of identification: A driver’s license, proof of age/photo card or a passport, an Australia citizenship certificate along with another form of photo id.

Proof that you are not already married: If have been married before you will need to provide your celebrant with original evidence of death, nullity or dissolution of your previous marriage.

!

Step Three •

!

Have fun planning the #bestweddingever! You will be required to complete The Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage with your celebrant a little closer to your wedding date.

Let Love Shine Through… !

what’s your lighting style? !

Now that you've got your styling worked out, why not take it to the next level and add some amazing lighting to your reception…. you won’t believe the difference.

Your Wedding Style: Classic

! !

Many classic reception venues are outfitted with gorgeous fixtures, like crystal chandeliers and wall sconces, that add elegant ambience to a space at no extra cost. If you're looking to up the glitz, add silver candelabras to dining tables—they'll give off a soft glow and serve as decoration. Keeping things more modern? Fill glass hurricanes with pillar candles for the same romantic effect. Consider adding a monogram to your dance floor with a gobo, or use a spotlight to show off an ice sculpture or a gorgeous cake. If you're dining and dancing under the stars, fairy lights are pure magic. And don't forget to end the evening on a high note with a classic sparkler send-off, venue permitting.

! Your Wedding Style: Rustic

Saying “I do" in a barn? Start with market lights. These festoon light strands add a bit of whimsy to outdoor spaces. They're larger than fairy lights, so each bulb provides a generous amount of illumination while also creating a charming atmosphere. Line ceremony aisles or outdoor pathways with luminaries—the simple paper bags will make a big statement. If you're going for a more eclectic look, opt for a unique chandelier treatment (think mason jars or Edison bulbs) or mix a few styles of lighting. Make an open space feel more intimate by designating spaces within the venue, like hanging a chandelier over the lounge area or creating a ceremony backdrop with suspended paper star lanterns.

! Your Wedding Style: Romantic

Enhance your picturesque Queenslander home or castle with twinkle lights. These tiny bulbs sparkle! Hang them vertically to create a dramatic look from trees, or drape them from a tent or a canopy for a starry-sky effect. If you're celebrating outdoors, consider suspending lanterns from trees, or use them to light pathways. (Mini lanterns could also make cute place settings.) Chandeliers make any setting feel more intimate, while pink colour-wash lighting will give your whole space a romantic, rose-colored glow. At the end of the evening, ask guests to send wish lanterns into the night sky with a wish for your future.

! Your Wedding Style: Modern

Add a party vibe to an unfinished modern space (anywhere that has a lot of white) with color-wash lighting. Opt for hues that flatter skin tones, such as pinks and purples, and let them build in intensity over the course of the evening. Sleek, pre-lit tables, which literally glow from within, offer a warm but contemporary feel. Consider adding LED lights to floral arrangements for luminous stems that double as décor and mood lighting. Illuminate venue walls with tiny stars on the ceiling above the dance floor. A moving design or video projection of blooming florals or a bustling cityscape is another cool, techy option.

Make the best use of your wedding entertainer‌

!

Your wedding entertainer whether a DJ or live artist will be with you for about 70% of your wedding and sometime for the entire event and more than likely will be the last memory that you and your guests will have of your wedding day.

!

A good wedding entertainer will be able to read the mood of your guests and play the right song at the right time and at the right volume. They will work with you prior to the wedding day to make sure that all your special songs (entry, first dance, cake cutting ext.) are selected as well. The music you want to be played is as important as what song you don't want played. Try and give them as much information and guidance as possible and use their experience and skill to select the right song at the right time and try to avoid playlists they just don't work and never have and they don't adjust to the changing moods of the night.

!

Allow your guests to make requests to the entertainer or even on the invitation ask them what song would they like to dance to (not what they want to hear) and pass it on to your entertainer.

!

Use the experience, knowledge and skill of your entertainer to enhance your wedding day after all that is what they are there for.

Looking Your Best…

LOVE LESSONS What famous romantic movies can teach us about love, combined with tips I’ve discovered along the way as a wedding photographer.

!

by Lou O’Brien (Images by Lou O’Brien)

“CAN I STAY FOR A WHILE?” “YOU CAN STAY FOREVER.”

!

You are at the beginning of your very own love story, so take your time to enjoy your amazing day. From the fun of getting ready, through to taking a moment to watch your first sunset together before the excitement of your reception, there will be so much you won't want to miss! Planning the day’s events from the sunset time means you’ll have plenty of time to capture all the details, without the rush of causing the light and letting the moment pass you by.

“I’M SCARED OF WALKING OUT OF THIS ROOM AND NEVER FEELING THE REST OF MY WHOLE LIFE THE WAY I FEEL WHEN I’M WITH YOU”

!

Your wedding photos will always bring you back to the way you felt when you said your vows in the joyful atmosphere of your ceremony, to the fragrance of your bouquet and the taste of that scrumptious wedding cake. In the years to come, long after your first dance, the one thing that will always provide you with rich memories are the photos from your special day.

Styling Tip 1 !

Gather, gather, gather has always been my motto. Whether its a compile look or a simple colour you have seen in a magazine, collect any images that excite you.

!

To begin with you may feel that you don't know what you are looking for, but in doing this your own personal style and personalities will shine through and give you some direction. From here you will find it a lot easier to make those all important decisions.

!

In doing this, I would also say, try no to get too overwhelmed with what you think you should have, and what you really want. Remember to stay focused on what is important to the both of you..

!

Noosa Wedding & Event Hire www.eventhirenoosa.com.au

Styling Tip 2 !

Our number one tip for styling a wedding is to pick a style that reflects who you are so your personalities shine through on the day. Take the time to get to know your decorator and have plenty of communication with them so that they can portray exactly what you envision.

! ! !

If your planning a DIY wedding keep it simple yet effective to minimise stress on yourself. It’s your day so make sure you smile.!

!

Pretty Little Lane www.prettylilttlelane.com.au

Styling Tip 3 !

Less is more‌ When planning your styling you need to be careful not to overdo things. You don't want tables that are so cluttered its hard for guests to relax. If you just have a couple of things that co-ordinate you will have a much better finished look. Also remember that not everything has to be matched exactly, different shades of one colour looks lovely - just remember to keep them to the same tones.

“You’ll wear it again, I promise” Helpful hints for choosing your bridesmaid dresses There are a lot of big decisions to make when planning your wedding and choosing your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses can be one of the hardest but most enjoyable experiences. Your bridal party is made up of your nearest and dearest and you want them to feel fabulous during your wedding celebrations. Choosing the right bridesmaid dresses will need to be done once the bridal gown has been selected. The dresses should complement and not overpower the wedding gown and this can be a fine line. By this stage you will have already chosen your main colour theme and style for your wedding. This colour should be incorporated throughout your wedding for a flow on effect; from your stationary, theming, cake and of course the bridesmaid dresses. The colour of the dresses should therefore either be the same colour used throughout the wedding style or one that complements it. An option that’s becoming more popular is varying the dress for each of your gal pals. This can be achieved in one of two ways; with one style of dress for all of the girls but in different colours, or with each girl in their own unique dress in varied shades of the same colour palette. You could then opt to have the same shoes and bouquets for your bridal party to keep some similarity between them. This is a great way of creating a less stressful experience as your bridesmaids will then be able to incorporate their own personal style into their combination that will leave them exuding confidence. A lot of brides still tend to turn to the same style and colour dress for the whole wedding party. This option photographs really well as the groomsmen are all in the same style of suit and each partner then matches up evenly throughout the bridal party. By far, the best tip for choosing your bridesmaid dresses is enjoying the time with your best friends as you shop and check out lots of different options. So get the girls together with a bottle of bubbly, let the good times roll and make sure you can say seriously “You’ll wear it again, I promise”.

Eloping Dos & Don’ts Is the idea of a big bridal bash just not your thing? Or perhaps you and your fiancé are just the super spontaneous type, so why not make your next beach vacation your nuptials as well? If you're thinking of eloping but have questions on the mind, we're here to help. We have come up with some important elopement dos and don'ts for getting hitched on the sly.

!

Do: Prepare Yourself for Family and Close Friends' Reactions The most difficult part of eloping is the fear that your friends and family will be disappointed they were not a part of your big day. "I recommend discussing the idea of eloping with your parents before you elope to minimise hurt feelings and surprises after the fact. You can involve your closest friends and family after the fact by sharing photos with them first, you could even host a post marriage party.

!

Remember, shocking your closest friends and family with a shout out on social media is a huge no-no: Make sure to tell them in person and if anyone feels hurt or left out, a handwritten note can go a long way.

!

Don't: Forget to Take Care of All the Legal Details Thinking of eloping to the Sunshine Coast? Many of the local companies offering elopement package can help with the legals. Just make sure you leave enough time. Even though its an elopement you still need to make sure you check off everything on the legal to-do list. You will still need an officiant and two witnesses to be legally married in Australia.

!

Do: Hire a Local Planner, Photographer, and Videographer Just because you’re planning an intimate wedding (with just the two of you) it doesn't mean you're completely on your own. While many elopements, by nature, tend to be last minute decisions, I highly advise couples not just to wing it. Hiring a local wedding planner can take a lot of stress off the couple and assist with arranging quality wedding suppliers. Plus a planner can suggest really special or under-the-radar places that you might not already know. Check that your elopement package includes a quality photographer and or videographer. Remember your families are going to want to see as much as possible from your wedding day.

!

Don't: Be Afraid to Ask what’s included in your package Make sure you are happy with all the details and what is included. Many wedding planners are flexible with packages and can add in extra items or change out things that you are not fussed on.

!

Do: Send a Marriage Announcement One of the most important things after your elopement, is letting everyone know. You may have the photographer on the day take a cute picture holding a sign saying “We Did It” or have the videographer record a short video message to all your loved ones. If you don't family and friends are left wondering what happened to your engagement or if they're getting a save-the-date soon. A marriage announcement lets people know that you've already gotten hitched and it's the perfect opportunity to showcase some of those gorgeous intimate photos you captured on your special day.

Reception Tips -

! !

When selecting your reception venue follow the simple tips below to help you through this big part of your wedding day. 1. Be flexible The hottest venues can be booked 18-24 months in advance so be prepared to be flexible when it comes to picking a date and a day. If you are set on a particular venue and you won't wait a year or two then think about the possibility of a Sunday or mid week wedding reception. 2. Look for special oers Saturday is always going to be the most popular and expensive day. Often venues oer specials in winter months and during the week. You can save money if you are planning a mid week wedding. 3. Ask the right questions Find out exactly which function room will be yours for the reception, are you able to use features of the venue such as gardens or pools as the backdrop to your photos. Are there any other weddings or events taking place at the same time as your wedding, if so will there be any chance of a crossing of brides or guests ending up at the wrong wedding. Does the venue have a wet weather plan in place. 4. Creature comforts Guest transport should be a consideration if your ceremony is not in close proximity to the reception. Unless everyone is driving be sure transport and easy parking is available. You may have to look at hiring a bus.

!

!

5. Lounge around Take into consideration your older guests who will need to sit most of the event. If you are having a cocktail reception have a few chairs and tables for people to sit at and rest drinks on. A guest lounge is a popular feature at weddings, they can be an oasis for guests who want a break from the dance floor. 6. Consider the kids If small children are invited, make sure the venue has highchairs and serve kids meals - a few entertaining toys or a drawing desk would be much appreciated by all mums. Find more on including children at weddings. 7. In-house wedding coordinator If your chosen venue has an experienced in-house wedding coordinator, great! Use them and work with them to plan your wedding - they will have experience and knowledge of how the venue functions best. Make sure they share the same vision as you do for your wedding day. If not you may need to hire an onsite wedding planner for your own piece of mind. 8. Get it in writing When you have chosen your venue, make sure you get confirmation of everything in writing. Read the fine print before signing off on anything and don't be shy to discuss any changes or additions to the confirmation/ booking form that you may wish to make. 9. Cinderella's wedding day pumpkinitis To avoid having overtime and loadings added to your bill at the end of the night, be sure that you stick to the schedule and depart before the clock strikes the hour.

Al! & Dustin A love story that was carved into everyone’s hearts

Our Story…Our story began 10 years ago when I became a bartender at The Exchange

Hotel in Brisbane where Dustin was a manager. We became fast friends but only realised our deeper feelings on a holiday to Thailand with mutual friends. The rest, they say, is history and 7 years later it was the obvious place for Dustin to ask me spend the rest of my life with him and become his wife. After kayaking out to a remote and private beach in Krabi, while I was busy photographing the gorgeous serenity and beauty of the island, Dustin pulled out a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. Getting married in Noosa was a no brainer for us. Noosa holds a very special place in our hearts, being where Dustin first told me he loved me, having carved it into the ‘LOVE TREE’ in the national park. Of course, being in Noosa, I couldn’t look past a beach wedding and Hidden Grove was perfect. Jess and the team at First Class Functions were absolutely amazing in making the area look spectacular and captured the relaxed and simple vibe we were looking for. The beauty of Noosa speaks for itself and Jess showcased this to perfection. Hannah Louise Beauty took care of the makeup of my bridal party and made us look beautiful from the start of the day until I was playing with sparklers at the end of the night! I adored my dress from Made With Love and I truly felt like a princess as I walked down the Aisle to (I’m gonna Be) 500 Miles by Sleeping at Last with my dad. I couldn’t help but shed many tears as I walked towards Dustin standing under the beautiful arbour in front of our nearest and dearest. The Riverdeck Restaurant was the perfect venue for us to celebrate our special day. The rustic details and quirkiness of the restaurant suited our style of laid back, rustic charm and Jess and her team decorated it exquisitely with driftwood, chandeliers, draping and mason jars, surrounded with the bright coloured flowers that ran throughout my theme. The bouquets that First Class Functions did were also just amazing beyond words. They were everything I hoped for and more and really were the most beautiful bunch of flowers I had ever seen, I wish they could have lasted forever. Our wedding cake matched our theme perfectly and was designed and made by my darling mum, including our personalised wooden cake topper. We danced and partied the night away to live music from Golden Child Entertainment, with our first dance a special tribute to Dustin’s favourite movie, Moulin Rouge – Your Song by Ewan MacGregor. After a relaxing recovery weekend in Noosa we honeymooned in Mexico, Cuba and Las Vegas. I wish I could do our whole experience a million times over, and I wouldn’t change a thing. All of our suppliers and those that made the day such a success were second to none and I can’t thank them all enough for their hard work making our day one I will never forget.

10 Things to Put on Your Honeymoon Packing List

!

Your packing list will be determined, to a great extent, by where you're going to honeymoon!

!

If you're headed off on a ski adventure in the Alps, half of your luggage will be ski gear. A bride packing for a honeymoon at a tropical resort might not need as much luggage as she thinks because of all those itty bitty bikinis and sundresses don't take up nearly as much room.

!

In addition to the basics, you should also include the following items on your honeymoon packing list:

!

! 1. A special outfit to wear to dinner the first night. ! 2. Special lingerie to surprise your new spouse with the first night. !

3. Perfume and bath gel that you wore for your wedding — special scents help establish really wonderful memories.

!

4. A music playlist of your favourite tunes as a couple, all set to go on your phone or iPod, and a little speaker you can plug into it and take with you to the beach or wherever.

!

5. Small collapsible cooler for keeping a few bottles cold (water, beer, champagne, for example) in your room or when you go adventuring if your accommodations don't provide something for you to use.

!

6. Something to read - for both of you. If you know what your fiancé's favourite magazines are or notice a new book out by his favourite author, pick up something to entertain him as well.

!

7. Birth control. If you're going someplace remote, there may not be a chemist handy. (Ever wonder how so many people accidentally start a family on their honeymoon?)

!

8. A special outfit to wear the last night of your honeymoon — you're going to take a million pictures.

! 9. Surprise lingerie for the last night that makes it as special as your first night. ! !

Happy Honeymoon !

Marquee Weddings… Planning is everything ! Marquees provide one of the only true blank canvas settings at a wedding. They combine elegance with the flexibility to hold your wedding in the location of your choosing and when planned properly can be truly stunning. Here are a few tips to get you started with your marquee planning.

! Choose a reputable marquee supplier!

Marquees can be tough nuts to crack and selecting a well-established company with plenty of experience is a must. Many brides also engage a wedding planner to make sure every detail is taken care of. They can manage the planning in its entirety, including internal styling, seating, flooring and lighting.

! Choose the right location

Double check your short list of marquee venues will actually allow wedding and event marquees on their site and if they do whether or not they have a nominated supplier. Make sure the location is easy to access and has plenty of nearby parking. Get a full list of the venues “Rules”.

! Think photographs

Try and take into consideration the backdrop as well as the marquee at the space you’re considering. Which month are you getting married, how will the season affect the look and feel of your wedding?

! Power, power, power!

Do your research with the power needed to run your wedding. Will you need a generator onsite? There would be nothing worse then creating the perfect day and then having it fall to pieces at the last minute due to poor planning. Check with the venue as to how much power they have but generally you will need a generator.

! Checking the small print

Check you are comfortable with the cancellation policy and payment terms for your venue, including deposit required and final payment date. Locations will vary and should you change your mind halfway through planning you’ll want to ensure you don’t loose out!

! Eat, Drink & Be Merry

Make sure you have a great caterer, hosting your wedding in a field will have its challenge’s but your caterer will need to have plenty of experience to handle any situation that comes up.

MODERN & MOBILE CATERING Home & Away Catering provides mobile catering services to a venue of your choice without catering facilities, be it a marquee wedding on a property, function hall or private house. We offer complete wedding catering packages to suit all budgets.

Wedding Cake Inspiration I hope you're not too peckish while reading this because we want you to take a look at some of the most popular wedding cake trends. Here are some fresh and fabulous new ideas to inspire your perfect wedding cake. Check out our Pinterest board for more cake inspiration.

Dirty Iced Cakes! Dirty-iced (also known as crumb coating or half dressed cakes) are definitely the new naked cake which was so trendy the past few years. A dirty iced cake is essentially a thin layer of icing that traps in all the cake crumbs before frosting. A dirty iced cake is left bare with no frosting on top but simply decorated with some florals or a cake topper.

! Marble Wedding Cakes! Marble is a hot wedding trend right now and even wedding cakes are getting the marble treatment. This achingly chic wedding cake trend consists of marbleising white fondant with icing colour or blending together white fondant with another subtle shade of fondant for a subtle but chic finish.

Sprinkle Cakes! Sprinkles, hundreds and thousands, cake confetti - whether it's sprinkled on top or covered all over, this wedding cake trend is all about bringing a little bit of fun to the dessert table!

Single Layer!

Single layer cakes are perfect for couples who don't want the traditional 3 tier cake but still want something to cut as newlyweds. The single layer cake is also a fantastic budget friendly option but remember, if you want a cake your 150 guests can try this is not the cake for you!

Booking with plenty of time…

!

When planning a wedding, one aspect that tends to get overlooked is transportation. Couples spend so much time focusing on booking a venue, hiring a caterer, and outfitting the wedding party that they often leave the wedding transportation arrangements until the last minute.

!

As anyone who has ever planned a wedding can tell you, it’s the last minute decisions that really bring on the stress. But with a little forethought, and some careful planning, arranging transportation for your wedding day can be easy.

!

Book Your Car Service Early Once you have a date, and a venue, chosen for you wedding it’s time to start thinking about your transportation needs. It is important to book your car service early, particularly if your wedding date falls around a major holiday or during school formal season. Wedding transport companies can experience high demands at certain times of the year, and you want to be certain that you have secured your car service well in advance of the wedding day.

!

Leaving it to the last minute may mean that you have fewer choices in transport services, or that there are no cars to be had on your big day.

!

Providing A Detailed Itinerary Now that you have booked your transport service, you will need to supply them with a detailed itinerary for your wedding day. Consider all of the wedding day activities, and factor them in to your transportation schedule.

!

These should include pick-up and drop-off times for all of the members of the wedding party, scheduled stops for hair and make-up, and stops for any planned or impromptu wedding portraits. Be sure to leave a bit of wiggle room in the day’s itinerary to compensate for traffic or last minute interruptions.

!

It is also important to provide a primary phone contact, either the maid of honour, best man, or wedding planner, who can handle any last minute issues or to deal with any unexpected delays.
