ABOARD the IRRAWADDY EXPLORER

Come you back to Mandalay, Where the old Flotilla lay; Can’t you ‘ear their paddles chunkin’ from Rangoon to Mandalay, On the road to Mandalay, Where the flyin’-fishes play, An’ the dawn comes up like thunder outer China ‘crost the Bay! ~ Rudyard Kipling

Dear Haimark Affinity Traveler, Join us on this fascinating eleven-night journey along the “Road to Mandalay,” Myanmar’s Irrawaddy River, lined with golden pagodas, emerald rice fields, and welcoming villages where life continues much as it has for centuries, through the rise and fall of one empire after another. Modern Myanmar was once British Colonial Burma, but before that she was an ancient, spiritual land, full of what Kipling so musically described as “the sunshine an’ the palm-trees an’ the tinkly templebells.” From magical Mandalay to Yangon (formerly Rangoon), you’ll see it all on this unique trip, stopping to explore one of the largest and most unforgettable archeological sites in the world, Bagan, home to a vast array of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins dating back to the 11th century. As is only right in a country renowned for its gracious hospitality, we’ll travel in luxurious comfort and style, enjoying first-class, all- suite accommodations on board the luxurious Irrawaddy Explorer, with the freshest of meals for your dining pleasure. With one night at the Mandalay Hill Resort & Spa in Mandalay at the start of your trip, nine nights cruising the Irrawaddy to Yangon and ending at the lavish Sule Shangri-La Hotel in Yangon for two nights. For those looking to extend their adventure, there is a three-night Inle Lake Optional Post-Program Extension featuring the iconic Inle Lake, the second largest lake in Myanmar, surrounded by mountains and populated by stilted villages, floating gardens, traditional fishing boats, and a variety of endemic species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. Participants will share this air-inclusive tour with friends and participants from cosponsoring associations. Space is limited to just 56 guests so please contact Haimark Affinity Travel at 800-798-4223 or info@haimarktravel.com today to secure your place on this exciting tour to Myanmar!

Each country has its own unique challenges, and organizations are chosen based on their mission, work, and visible success. Where possible, every effort is made for guests to visit our partners, further increasing awareness of the organizations and the needs they address. During your cruise with Haimark, our staff will inform you of our active Haimark Cares initiative(s) in that area, and whether or not visitors are allowed.
