Music is the Light: Jane and the Robot Etching (Intaglio), aquaint, a la poupee Fall 2008 This print spurred a series of illustrations surround a story that I developed about a little girl who moves across the United States and starts school with a new group of peers that do not accept her. She spends the school year feeling rejected and finds a robot to befriend in the forest by her house that hides a deserted, dilapidated city. The story is about her finding ways to accept who she is and show confidence in her own abilities. By doing this, she gains respect and friends among her peers.

Jane and the Robot: Plug-In Digital Media (Photoshop) Fall 2010 Music is a big part of this series, as it helps Jane cope with the big issues in her life, and it is the mechanism that wakes the Robot up from his slumber. In this illustration, Jane is plugging her MP3 player into the robot’s ear panel in an attempt to turn him on.

Villain Concept Sketches and Character Design: Stitches Pencil, Prismacolor Markers, Prismacolor pencils, Rapidograph pen and ink Spring 2009 Cartooning class had us develop a superhero of villain from our own person. We were assigned to kill ourselves in some spectacular way, resurrect ourselves as a hero or villain, and then engage in combat with another classmate’s hero or villain respectively. The portrait to the left is the trading card image we created for our classmates. Julie was ripped apart by a cult, stitched back together, and resurrected by hatred as the villain, Stitches. She then set out to kill all those that hurt her and she does not care if innocent people get hurt in the process.

Transvestite Man vs Deathspawn the Necroghoul Adobe Illustrator Fall 2007 Computer Graphics class required us to create a hero or villain and then pit them in a life or death battle against a classmates character for an illustration. Thus, Transvestite Man was born and he really likes to push buttons that might or might not destroy the world.

Political Cartoon Adobe Illustrator Spring 2009 This political cartoon was created after Obama was elected into office. For class I was part of the independent party and making commentary on how the government was trying to control businesses. This cartoon was published in several local papers, including the Edmond Sun and Kingfisher Times.

Marker Studies Prismacolor Markers Spring 2009 In my Illustration classes we print of images and bring them to class for marker studies, similar to digital speedpaintings, to improve how we use color and how fast and efficiently we work. Here are a few superior examples of my studies. All characters copyright reserved respectively. Spiderman took 45 minutes, the rest were 5-10 minutes each.

Concept Sketches: Mythology Pencil / Digital Colorizing Spring 2010 These sketches were created for a Relief Printmaking class. Composition and lighting were highly developed in the sketch designs. I had to think about what would be carved out in the wood and what would be inked up to create the final images, and I found the initial drawings to be much more illustrative with beautiful lines.
